Hi,

I have a 2003 Maxima with 37000 miles. Engine repair lite cameon and I read the codes with my code reader. P0430 came out."Catalyst efficiency below threshold bank (2)". Any one know whatthis means? I don't want to spend $270 to buy the service manual.I think this indicates a bad catalytic converter. How could this be witha less than 3 year old car with low miles?I would appreciate any [email protected]

Nissan is having a run of bad cats on alot of newer model cars lately. I think the max is up there on the list too. You should still be covered under warranty on this take it in and have them fix it. You may have a bad airflow meter too causeing it to run slightly lean which can over heat the cat and cuase it to have a shortened life span. Have them do an alpha check to make sure it is running ok.
