**** NOOB QUESTION ALERT ****Is an SAFCII and a wideband an alternative to a tuned ECU like enthalpy? I was planning on getting an enthalpy, but because I plan on many stages it will get very expensive very quickly.

I have 460cc injectores. Try low at -40 accross the board and high turn to -27 across the board, but don't get into boost. If it smells like your running rich just turn it down some more. I have to run -50 at idle and then it goes up from there , but my hi throttle starts at -10 and goes all the way to +50

Tx-Sx-FS - FOR SURE let me know about that fmic kit, take pic's of the install, pic's of any prob's, how you solved them and so on. It's a great deal on that kit and I may be interested in it myself. Just want to know about it all first. Hopefully other people will be posting up there settings and system so everyone will have lots of information to assist in there own set up. |
Just wanted to say you have a BEAUTIFUL car dude. That blue is amazing. And I hate blue cars honestly, but yours is just, wow. crazy.
In response to the AFC settings, I need to play with mine a bit more, its really fun to see the drastic changes in power you make with the AFC, + or - of course. I got mine from idling like turds (black smoke everywhere) to idling like a top. My dec air settings never seemed to affect idle at all. My MAF output voltage is the main one I needed to use. I'm at 1 in 1 out with a N60 maxima MAF. I'm running a very similar setup
XO2 Manifold T25 370cc N60 MAF 3 inch downpipe 3 inch test pipe Apexi N1 dual exhaust Apexi BOV FMIC SAFC 2 Manual boost controller My car kept popping couplers at 10psi so I bought T bolt clamps and they're hopefully on their way. Once I get those installed I can fine tune the boost controller(getting boost creep a lot) as well as the SAFC settings. Modified by RPS1392 at 3:21 PM 5/25/2006

why is your timing retarted? A birth defect? Sorry I just woke up. How much boost are you running? Not too sure you need to adjust timing unless u are running a bunch of boost. your right on safc hotwire 2in 2out for stock maf. also 4 cyl with arrow from bottom left pointing to top right! Just put all your high maps at 0% and your low at -23%. that should keep ya very rich and safe! Dont boost too much till ya get a wideband or a dyno tune!

I run 2 in 5 out for the MAF setting, but I have an s13. But basically for the MAF setting you can just play with it until your idle smooths out.

I know this is REALLY old, but in this situation, your MAF wire had to be wired backwards.

Thanks everyone and lets keep this alive.

So yes, i have searched but am not seeing what im looking for. Any help is greatly appreciated guys, i know there are plenty of Gurus in these forums and are very kind to us n00bs who are only trying to learn...thanks in advanced! My Set Up: KA24DE-T T25 3inch DP/no exhaust yet FMIC SR intake/Stock S13 MAF 370cc SR injectors SAFC2 AEM Wideband(getting bung welded today for better results) 1st Gen/EVO BOV w/ recirculation Tube(rigged, not working well) -I have shortly tuned with a wideband but we had the sensor rigged in the back of the downpipe, i am now going to get a bung welded onto my downpipe for correct results. -I am also looking to replace the stock SR intake b/c it's that rubber **** and it's hard to clamp hose clamps on rubber, so im going to pick up an alluminum one. Questions: 1. On the SAFC2, where it says(under the THR settiings i believe): Neo1: 800rpm Neo2: 1000rpm...etc. How can i adjust these, it only lets me highlight them and not change them in anyway? 2. When Monitoring AFL, what exactly does it stand for and mean;Airflow? Is there any "norm" at idle that it should be? 3. Dec. Air, does it only account your settings if you're running open BOV(Un-recirculated) b/c it doesn't seem to be helping my hold idle when clutched in or in neutral. I am forced to heel toe until slowly 0% throttle then i can let off the gas, and even then the idle is at 450rpm..then only once i completely stop will the rpm rise back to 750ish... 4. For my MAF "IN" and "OUT" should it be 1 and 1, or 5 and 5? 5. Also, I'm not sure under which settings it's under but where it asks you: Low THR xx% and HI THR xxx%, for mine i have it at Low 10% HIgh 50%, should this be at anything else, also does this mean that for the settings i have changed for my low THR they only apply when i am in between 10%-49% throttle and the same applies for the high throttle? 6. Air bung on the valve cover, is it necessary to have a hose going from this to the intake right before the Filter? I have one of those small filters on it and plugged the spot on the intake since it's after the MAF...? I think that's all i can think of for now, again guys, any help is greatly appreciated; just trying to learn from people in the know. Thanks. -Chris

| Quote, originally posted by side waz » | | **** May Be Worthy Of Being STICKY'd **** Hey everyone whats up. Well as I saw another thread asking for SAFC help (as did I) and I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread where it would be WAY easier to search out answers, see people's systems and settings. These units can be complicated at first and even appear a little ominous to the first timer so this should help. So for those who are already using either the SAFC (LCD screen with button's) or the SAFC II (LCD screen with knob) post up your COMPLETE settings including, Throttle Point, NE Points, High/Low Throttle and Fuel % Correction for each NE Point. Also include what turbo system your running like kind of turbo, injector's, ect, ect. Don't forget to mention if you've tunned on the dyno, via a Wideband or not at all. True no two cars will be running the exact same settings despite maybe having the same turbo system but at least it will give new people something to research on and use to just drive there cars and get to the dyno or tune with a wideband. Anyway here's my SAFC settings (have NOT hit the dyno as yet) NE Points: 1000rpm, 2500rpm, 3000rpm, 3500rpm, 4000rpm, 4500rpm, 5000rpm and 6000rpm Throttle Point: Lo - 10% / High - 43% Low Throttle Fuel Correction: -25% across ALL NE Points High Throttle Fuel Correction: 1000rpm -17%, 2500rpm -17%, 3000 -16%, 3500rpm -15%, 4000rpm -15%, 4500rpm -15%, 5000rpm -15% and 6000rpm -15% My turbo system is, SSAutochrome Manifold, SR T25 Turbo, SR Turbo Extension, Megan Racing 3" Downpipe, SR 370cc Injector's, Megan Racing Fuel Pressure Regulator, 300zx Fuel Filter, SR SMIC, Walboro Fuel Pump, GReddy Type S BOV (atmospheric) and the SAFC (buttons) So that's me how about you??? Also PLEASE feel free to ask any questions, post any comments or concerns as this will probabley go a long to helping out a lot of people. Take care guys. Don't bump old posts for a question that has been answered many times. Also, if you need to, make a new thread. The reason I say this is because many of thses guys aren't active on Nico anymore. WD
