I was wondering if anyone happened to change their stock in dash stereo unit. And if they did what install kit did you happen to use/ where did you get it ? Would the Nissan Maxima's 2000+ install kit work for the infiniti i30's as well?

Thanks Guys,

Pacific Accessory ( http://www.pac-audio.com ) sells an adapter which will let you put in a new headunit while keeping the factory Bose system (if that is what you have). ROEM-NIS2 is what you would need. Others make similar products (like Rockford Fosgate), but I don't know what their part numbers are....

Here's a direct link for info: http://www.pac-audio.com/oem1k...+kits

Hey, I was wondering if they just sell the outside frame/housing kit because i plan on taking out all my BOSE factory speakers and putting in new ones.

The factory plastic mounting position should work just fine. On the 5th gen I worked on and my 5.5-gen I used the factory mounting plates and simply cut the back out for magnet space. If you need more room for the front of the speaker to move, you can make your own adapters out of wood.

The faceplates can be picked up via numerous locations. The aftermarket ones don't fit very well, unfortunately. If you are looking to use a single-din HU, the best "kit" to order would be from a Nissan with a non-Bose setup. For double-din config, the Nissan factory trim for a vechicle with Navi would work. These do cost a bit more than the aftermarket trim kits, but the make up for in in fitment.

I would believe the Maxi and I30 kits would be the same, but an I35 owner I know mentioned the I35 trim kit was somewhat wider than the Maxi kit. Since they are the same vehicle, I find that to be hard to believe....

You can also use a Amp. Intergration Harness. Model: Metra 70-7551 (for 95 and up) or, Metra 70-1764 (1987-94). The harness requires a head unit with front and rear pre-amps. (or you can use a single with RCA spliters, but it will not have a front or rear bias). The harness sends the signal to the bose amp(s), So you won't have to do a whole re-wire if you don't want to. This is the cheaper way to do it if you dont want to buy the more expensive adapter, but can take a little more work than putting in the PAC adapter (better than a rewire though). A good place to find them is on Ebay autos around $20 to $30 w/o shipping.

you could also probably pick up the walmart $6.95 harness adapter and just wire RCA's to em, cheaper than $20... sup alex

as long as you get a headunit with 3 pre-amp outs if using the Metra adapter or a spliter on a 2 pre-amp out. and if using the Pac adatper all you would need is a headunit with 1 pre-amp. just make sure you have the pre-amp on the HU set to sub out if using a sub. and rear on the rear pre-amp.

I had the same problem with my bose system. Im going to replace my head unit soon, (come on income tax .... ) In the mean time i got frustrated and looked up some more info. I found somewhere on this forum that you can get the BOSE CD player to work fine if you just reset it by Disconnecting it or disconnecting the battery. I was gonna do that but after letting my CD player sit Idle for about a week, (radio works fine by the way) all of a sudden it works now, I don't know why this happend but it did. So in the mean time, while you wait for you new HU you can try that.

Hey, I'm new to the site(kinda stumbled on it) but is it easy to remove the covering on the OEM radio/cd player? I found a CD player that I want to buy but I'm not sure how easy it will be to install. And too, if this whole disconnect thing works, I'd like to try that. Let me know.

Thanks!!!!

This link will take you to a bunch of How-to articles for the I35. See the one about removing the head unit. I followed it and was able to remove mine fairly easy, just be careful removing the air vents. Also, my car didn't have a screw in the astray which the manual says it does...

Anyone know where i can find a wiring shematic for the stock bose Hu? Im going to put an aftermarket one in but would like to find which wires are for which channel on the amp so i can remove the amp and loop the wires so that i dont have to do a total wire re-run.

when i changed out my oem head unit a few months ago . i found a wiring kit, dash kit ( i30/maxima, nissan .ect), after market pre amp( that connected in between the new unit for cars with the bose audio system )and the wiring kit all at walmart. i think total i was out about 50 bucks but that beats replacing all the speakers as suggested at one of the car audio store.

The maxi metra kit works in an I30. I dont kno about I35s tho it would make sense if they fit but you never know.
