Just as above.

Who here has swapped out their clutch fan for a set of electric fans?

Does it run cooler/hotter?

What type/brand electric fans are you using?

Any problems from switching over to electrics?

I am considering swapping over to electrics due to the fact that my clutch fan has 4 big cracks in it and I have a set of electric fans looking for a home.

Only one Q owner that I know of: Sijoko.

Although, you'll be disappointed, as nothing really pulls more air than the stock clutch fan.

Better to just replace it, it's cheap.

Guess its time to call Infiniti then.

Oh well, guess I'll just post the fans up in the classified section then.

Just out of curiosity, what is the maximum cubic feet per minute that the stock clutch fan can flow? (I searched, but didn't come across anything in regards to the HG50.)

just out of curiousity....have you taken off your OEM cracked fan yet? I did when a screwed up tech told me my fan clutch was bad and repalced it. My fan is just like all the other original fans....cracked, but when I took it off I inspected it (redneck methods) and even with the crack it seems as if the plasitic is there to stay and will not suddenly bust apart. The plastic while cracked badly was not loose and seemed to be stead fast in its place not wanting to go anywhere soon so I never replaced my fan yet. I have not heard of any fan breaking apart yet on NICO so my guess is that the fan blade while cracked is still good to go for many more abusive miles.

Yeah. I did the timing guide update about a month ago and pulled it then.

Quite a few large cracks but didn't seem to budge, even with a coupple of light wacks with a plastic mallet.

Re-installed it when I finished the timing upgrade and it ran fine.No unusual noise or pitch.

Considering the number of individual bolts that hold the fan to the fan clutch, it should work fine with the cracks.I just don't want to be the first member to have a fan crumble at 70mph.

I was thinking of slapping a set of twin electrics in place of the clutch fan, (2 fans, jic one fails), plus I could set both of them up to run full time.

Unless someone knows what kind of CFM the clutch fan produces, I'm probably going to end up taking wes & hitman's advice and just get a new fan from Infiniti.

(Not today though, today is rewire coilpacks day )

I have a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic 15" fan (pulls lower amps and flows more air than anythnig else on the market), thermostatically controlled...

Bought it for my S13 and then didn't use it, probably fit real nice on a Q... Complete, new, missing one relay.

Will sell for 1/2 price +shipping....

Before I jump in and volunteer to be a guinea pig I need a really important question answered.

What is the maximum CFM the stock clutch fan can flow?

I'm looking for the answer, when I find out I'll post it.(Unless one of the Gurus beat me to it)

Well, I did some digging, but haven't came across the stock fans cfm.

So, I'm still teedering on swapping to electrics.(Would make it soooo much easier when belt changing time comes)

Want to chime in here Sijoko?

I'm curious as to how well your setup runs with an electric.(ie., any problems, runs a little warm,etc,...etc,....)

If you could somehow get a good shroud setup, Im positive the electrics will pull more.
