Talked to Brian (KA-t Moderator) this morning... As most of you know, he's active duty Air Force, and has been sent to the SE US to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He's currently near Jackson, Mississippi...

They were doing a lot of rooftop recoveries with helos early on, which has tapered off - now they're going in, house by house, where the floodwaters have not yet receded, punching a hole in rooftops and looking for survivors, and in most cases, recovering the dead.

Brian says "don't believe most of what you see on the news", and says they're doing a lot of good for some really good people whose lives were destroyed by the storm, and that they're grateful overall.

He doesn't have much Internet of cell phone access, but sends his best and says to tell you guys that whatever "problems" life throws your way on a daily basis, they're NOTHING compared to what the people in the Gulf Coast have experienced.

Please keep Brian (and his wife Kate, who's serving active duty in Tucson, AZ) in your thoughts and prayers, that he'll get to come home safe soon.

Good for him. Glade to see more are helping. Hopfully they won't try to rebuild the city in the same area.

Tell WD not to worry: we're not all gullible enough to take the news for face value.

It's always good to hear from those who are actually seeing things and find that there is indeed good being done.

Godspeed to both of them. That is one helluva mess down there. One of my best friends is there with the Indiana Guard. And he is right about those pesky personal "problems"...

Thanks for the update Greg. Tell Bri I'm thinking of him and praying for him and thanks for what he's doing there. I may get sent too but I don't know yet. I'm on the Red Cross Emergency Response List. I'll let you guys know if I do.

he knows he's the ****in' man right?

I wish I was helping clean the mess up right now.

I'd seriously quit my job and go down there....hell, I've had *some* medical training...

Good man! Glad to see he's out there helping... the gulf coast will never be the same, less so because of Katrina than because he's down there!

Just got back last night. The last two weeks of my life have been absolutely life changing. There is no way to express in words what happened to these people.

I'm glad my job in the Military allows me to make a difference here at home rather then just deploying oversea's for whatever war we're in at the time.

I'll have a better writeup with alot of pictures for you guys real soon.

Thanks for the kind words.

Brian
