It is funny what kind of things you will do when you are bored. No school for the summer.

anyways, check out the pictures. I will do the write up later.

got the idea from this guy, and improved upon it a bit.http://240sx.cubicdesign.com/article1.php

It is partially painted, I completed one bar yesterday and painted it, but rear one didn't get paint. I just wanted to get it on and test it.

and the pics. click on the right pics to see the next one:

I even got the movies, but don't know where to host them. Anyone want to help?

Sweet. I've got to try that.

I've alwasy wanted to make a sort of pointless "mockumentary" that is just me any my commentary in a car...I don't know how to explain it. I started on it once, with a friend being the camera mount, in my ford (this mount you made won't work on fords--damn fixed headrests) but it didn't work.

I also see some wierd stuff while driving to work that I always wish I'd caught on video. I could have some fun with this...

How big are the videos? I can probably help with the hosting.

videos are very shaky, first try. And the camera is probably 10 years old. (dad's)

ummm...56MegaByte and 14MB. 56MB one is a bit longer through curves near my house.

send 'em to me at [email protected] and I'll get them hosted first thing when I get home this morning.

As for the shakiness--I was going to dampen it by using a slightly different mounting system, but still mounting to the headrest shafts. Instead of making a clamp setup, simply drill a hole in the bar. Drill it slightly larger than the headrest shafts--to the point where it slides freely but does not rattle. The take the headrests off, slide a spring on each one, slide the bar on, and slide another spring on each one. Then just slide the headrest back down until it's just barely beginning to compress the springs. Or you could take advantage of the cushiness of the seat and simply drill several extra pieces and stack them so it all fit's firmly between seat and headrest

I can't really think of a way to dampen axial rotation that won't nullify the vertical dampening, though.

Crappy illustration:

Hey, that whole idea and execution of the idea is great. Its almost like the cop cams in cop cars.

Good stuff!
