well, today i've started my project..

at first i've discconected the oem wiring harness from the engine, and opened the timing cover to see that it is set, and removed the oil pan in order to replace it with the 25 one..

the 25 oil pan is not a direct fit as i thought...the buffle plate is to narrow for the oil pickup to get into right in place, so i did (my mechanic did) a little fab work and opened it a bit...

then, after it was in, we've noticed that the pickup flunge is avoiding the oilpan to get in place...

so, once again, a little fab work...

tommorow, we'll install the transmission on the motor, and get it in the car (i hope we will not encounter any more problems...)

apperantly it has a tomei timing belt on it, i've took some pics but it didn't save it

here - some pics...

and here is my friend humping my RB

Right on.

I made my oil pan fit without modifying the edge of the pan. Just beat on it with a hammer for a bit and then cut the baffle plate.

Make sure you hot tank that pan before you put it on. I'm sure you know that.

Its a R32 Rb26 i assume do you know if it a older 32 or a newer one cause while you have the oil pan off you might want to change the oil pump collar and oil pump it self.

i don't know if it's the earlier or later model engine...i don't want to remove the timing belt, i will get a new belt, tensioners, and oil pump and then i'll check it...

I found out today that my speed sensor is broken, i need to get a new one, should the SR/KA sensor fit?

the motor was supposed to go in today, but i was hold on becase of this little (big) piggy, my mechanic had no time (a friend with that gt needed something urgent for tommorow's firs israeli car show )

anyway...

more pics

btw - NAMELESS, forgive me for my ignorance, but what have you ment by "to hot tank it" ?

thanks...Tom

we'll, i've put the motor in the day before yesterday...

everything is ok, only one thing, for some reason the wire for the number 1 coil heated up, and i think it burnt the coil, i hope that the module is still ok...i will rewire the haltech tommorow just to make sure...

i'll use one of the SR coils if the module is still ok..

and there you gopics!!!

So that's what the $600 mount kit looks like? I bet there is it cost $50 to copy that.

Hot tanking is putting the block, head, etc. in a tank of hot solvents. It's what the machine shop does before they re-work heads and what most rebuilt parts go through before being returned to service. It removes most of the deposits from the steel, making it nice and shiny again. That way your shiny brand-new water pump doesn't look so silly being bolted on to a cruddy blackened engine.

You could clean it yourself using pipe brushes and cleaners, but hot tanking is more efficient and thorough.

Nameless, where are you....

The mount kit also has the transmission mount. Plus, those mounts have underside support that you can't see in the pic. But yes, monopoly does seem to have advantages, doesn't it?

i rather pay that 600$ and get something that will surely work..

more developments -

i've wired it all up, accidently cunfused between 2 wires, and burned a coil..

and now i get no spark - also i do get gnd pulses from the igniter module (except for the terminal of cyl1 which i've burned too )i can't find the problem, i've tried different coils, and nada, no spark..

the haltech is reading the cas, i don't know what it is, i've sent an e-mail to haltech...we'll see what they have to say, i will also try to put a golf VR6 coil, only till i'll sort this problem out...

wulfgang, thanks for clearing that up

i'll post my progress when i'll have any

hehe.. forgot to come back.

yea.. if you're grinding on that oil pan, you don't want the shavings to remain in the crevices of the pan only to come out in the oil later on. Hot tanking will remove all the crap so it doesn't contaminate the oil and get into the bearing journals causing wear and damage.

If you didn't clean it out after you worked on it.. take it back off and do it. Any machine shop should have a solvent hot tank. The particular tank I used was at BMW of Seattle where my buddy works.

ofcourse we've cleaned it...we used some washing fluid, it came out new...

my only concern now is that ignition module, i'm thinking about that hks twin power (thanks to gawdzilla ), i just don't know if it plugs into the oem coils, anybody knows anything about that system?

i'll try tommorow to start the car with that golf vr6 coilpack, just to hear it starting (i just can't wait...)after i'll start it, i'll build that downpipe, and then send it to the paint shop and install the body kit, and repaint the car...

and then, finally i'll be able to drive it
