Chapter 1:Where is the instructions?

I did receive the ASE664 in NEW condition I have all the Stickers and inserts that come with it and a single sheet of instructions in JP.

I don't think it could contain all this things features.

So far, I can get the Auto-Hight Speed control to work.

On the 1st try I set it for 60It worked wonderful the car never handled so tight I set it for 60 KPH oops so it lowered the Q45a @ like 43MPH ...LOL

Still it was crazy what a 1.5 inch drop can do @ highway speeds.

The steering was self-correcting\centering she would PULL herself back to a stright line. My aligment was OK but this was amazing it had never done this beforeIt felt even better than before.

I'm in search of a proper instructions sheet.

Any help wil be accepted!

SO far I'm in LOVE.

I can't figure out why Infiniti didn't make the Active Q45 Auto Speed\Height adjustable form the factory.

It does improve the cars handling and the MPG at highway speeds.

I still can't figure how to get it to go to LOW LOW mode though!

I would Like to thank MiniMan for the controller and RedmanFX for the Active CPU (My old one is toast and the ASE664 would have sat on the shelf if not for RedmanFX)

This is in NO WAY the write up

I first need some play time or an instructions sheet to figure out the other system functions.

This thing has so many modes I will learn them all in time.

Yo Red!!!

This would not be possible if not for you!

I will get you back REAL SOON.

The Q45a forced me to doing most of the 120,000 service this last week.

She got:New Belts, Battery, OEM alternator, OEM water pump, OEM Fuel pump,New Active CPU(from YOU), Active System Flush, and lots of bits and pieces here and there.

All I need now is a set of Motor and Transmission Mounts, Oil Pan Drop, Transmission Pan Drop, Under Plenum Kit and a Suspension Bushings Kit. and most of the 120,000 maintaince is done... Should be good for another 11 years.

Hey GreenI've recharged my Accum's with 1000 psi so my "A" is active again and rides pretty smooth. However, the controller has gone dead. I've checked the 2 fuses in the computer harness and they are OK. Do you have any clues what I might have stuffed up. Before I did the recharge the controller was working fine i.e. I could push buttons and the car would respond but as the accum's were shot the Q was carrying on like a yo-yo, up ....down ... while sitting at the lights. Now, the controller unit does not even light up and the Q is sitting pretty high. It doesn't even raise or lower when I start up and switch off. Anyway, if you do get your hands on a set of instructions for your controller I'd be thankful if you could forward me a copy.Aussie

G'Day GreenHow about an update on your new controller. I'm still having grief with mine. The model I have is

....Rspec......SGC....GRAPHICALSP.

I have posted it in a previous thread with pictures and I think it was Red that said it was an old model. You might remember I also posted pics of the wireing harness in the boot for you. However, if possible I would like to get hold of a wireing diagram and instructions. I looked up that link you posted and all I could find was advertising blurb. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Anyhow lets know how yours is performing.Aussie

Sorry for the delay...

According to the information I've found your controller is very much like mine.

The main difference is yours has bar indicators and mind reads in Alpha Numeric\digits.

I have read that your controller MUST be Left alone for the 1st 10mins while it talks the the active system and figures out its limits.

On the other hand there are DIP Switches on mine to tell it what thecar is.

Does yours have dip switches (on the back)?

If it was my Q...

Run the car for 5 mins...Stop the car...wait 3 mins!!! (I was told to wait 3 mins by a NICO expert) Disconnect the battery's Neg terminal...Then unplug the wirharness at the active computer in the trunk on the right.Reconnect the OEM\Stock harness to the OEM\Stock computer leaving out the Pass-through active controller harness.

I would leave it unplugged from the main harness for and hour or so and go for a drive...

Then stop the car and wait 3 mins... Disconnect the battery's Neg terminal....Reconnect the Pass-through active controller harness at the active computer and un-clip the smaller harness's in back of the active controller (under the dash)....Connect the battery... Start the car(Active controller STILL detached under the dash)

If there is no ACTSUS light on the dash board turn off the car wait 3 mins...Remove the battery cable once more...Connect the harness clips...Connect the battery cable...Check the wire harness fuses...Start the car and DON'T Touch the controller for 10 mins....Then try it...

This is an overblown system reset...Some of it came from your own AUSSIE Toyota Soarer sites...Some came from the JP Datasystems websites.I have a weak JP translator so I through common sense in there as well...

Let me know the results please...

Hey Green, Great to hear from you! Thanks very much for the info, its been extremly helpful.Done every thing you said.............I think....The Active is working fantastic when I disconnect the controller, but... when I reconnect the controller harness all the warning lights on the dash light up and the CPU (Unit Left side trunk) makes sounds like a U/S fuel pump and gets pretty warm . I've removed the "Pass-through active controller harness" again and reconnected the stock harness and all the dash warning lights are off. However, now the fuel pump has got the "I need replacing" buzz. Seems to me EVERY time I try to repair one thing on the Q something else stuffs up ... when the F**ck (please excuse) does it stop. I'll go through all the steps again tomorrow. For now I'v removed the controller harness and disconnected the Neg terminal on the Batt.

Rides perfect without the controller......do you think maybe if I offered to pay Texasoil the nett profit he would make out of doing a regharge, he might tell me what pressure he pumps into the accums?Aussie

But really you have a 1989 Nissan Q45a I think... or did they have the "a" in 89?

I thought I read they added it in 91 in the states...

Thats a 16 year old car.

You will need to kick all the Gremlins out of your Q45.

I've got mine trapped in the wiper fluid container...He just drank the last of it. He chewed on the leather seats for a few years and loved to chew on the cars rubber like the boots and bushings.

He ran from my Active Suspension CPU to the Alternator to my Water Pump then to my Fuel Pump must have got caught in the cooling fan (its a little cracked) my washer fluid is empty now and I anm not going to open it and let him out till I'm near a BMW or M Benz...Once they get mature like this...

They like to move to newer German cars.

The pumps are designed to wear out. Nissans have always had electric issues. (every car in my sig)nothing major like the FORD PINTO (blew up if you had the left turn signal on and got rearended) but enough to piss off most people how can't work on there own cars or can't afford to get it fixed right the first time.

I worked on Jet Air Craft in the US Air Force and have always fixed things. So working on a car like the Q45a is not that hard to understand.

Some people with a Base or "t" Q45 don't quit get how the Active Q45 differs from the rest ...there has got to be at least 200 feet of piping and hoses just for the active system. and there not much room there to begin with... So where do they cram it???

ANYWHERE THEY CAN!!!

Which is in the way of everything else...

I think I've heard many people say its one of the most complicated cars on the road.

But take heart you have an Active Q45 WITH REAR A\C in 19 F**king 89...

none of us here have that ...

("I told you Japan keeps all the good s*!t for itselfs.")

The moral of the story is all those parts are made to wareout...Pumps Bushings ..so on..

So many other people logged in to my post saying there alternator's and Pumps were going out at the same time most were even the same year... Is this bad?...

No!!

I think it says alot for the Quality & Consistency of the Infiniti line of products .

Mine could have gone another 20,000 on the Fuel pump...But if it fails it CAN take out the FPCU (Fuel Computer) so I'm not taking risking it.

Fix EVERY thing you can afford to in order of importance Ask these guys here there great at keeping these things on the road. Even if they give you a hard time while doing it.

I gotta go to sleep or I'll never shut up...

G'Day GreenThanks for the encouragement. You are so right when you say the Q is COMPLICATED, but I prefer to call it uniquely sophificated and (at this particular point in time) challangeing. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that this car was produced in 19 ***king 89 !!! Most of you guys were still in dipers. Anyway Green I'm pretty pissed off with the Q at the moment and think I should take a break from it for a couple of days as the electrical problems have really got me ......got me.....aghhh. Well I've had 3 diffrent Auto elect. tech's spend a total of almost 40 hours trying to sort out...1. dead short in tail lights2. no dash lights3. windows don't work4. seats don't work from consol5. Airbag warning light on6. A/C controller will not illuminate permenently (lights up for 5 sec now & then)7. Radio will not workHopefully, I will be able to find a solution to all these problems and post the results.

Thanks again for your positive words of encouragement. Sometimes thats all a bloke needs to keep goin'.AussieP.S. Tell Texasoil when I sort out the correct Pressure for those bloody accum's, I'm not tellin' nobody

*Note this should now be moved to IMO!

You almost have it my friend.

You should post a post for each of these events in IMO (Infiniti Online Mechanic). The people that provide REAL help are there and some won' even answer questions of this type in other forum (other than IMO).

Asking a trade secret and asking for help with RESTORING A 1989 Active Q45 ("With REAR A\C" ) is another story.Texasoil shouldn't have to give up his Kung-Fu. He has been doing this recharge for years. If you ever emailed this guy his answers are great and dead on.

One big issue is these guys post great write ups and no one can find them.also you get tired of hearing the same questions week after week when theres a search button.

Most of the people that say "Do a search" have done a 30 post long thread on the subject.

That car shows where Infiniti was at in 1982 (it took 7 years from board to showroom) Caddy and Dodge have caught up to our Gen 1 Q45's.(Caddy is NOW TIGHT from 1997 on) and Dodge ...LOL... until the new 300M came out they were throw-a-way cars.

We will help you restore that thing to OEM or better .

So buck up Mate!

AND POST

AND CHECK BACK MORE OFTEN.

Buy a PDA phone that has a real HTML (normal webpage) browser. So you can be hooked into NICO (The Matrix) 24-7.I will start a new thread about the controller I have learned much...I think...

We need to get your Q back to normal.

Then we can compair the computers.

Don't let parts shipping scare. You can get GREAT deals for our sponsers and members.

We are like the Native Americans when it comes it to a Q45 (Hide and all leaving no parts to waste) we will slice her up and share her parts so others can go on.

No Comment onaccumulators.

Thorough 'post mortem' inspection of a noisy,120K miles fuel pump revealed : No measurable wear anywhere; very small amount of corrosion (rust?) on tips of rotating 'roller holder' in the pump showed evidence of slight rub on pump race--which would explain the noise- and higher current draw eventually. Posilhe doff same and smooth noise free operation resumed. Life expectancy based on above examination >250K miles

You know I looked at your pictures, and I guess I am too dumb to know how to put it back together.

I did save my noisy one though in case I learned.
