the situation: i allready own a 240sx that needs ALOT of work to get it up and running to what i want it to be. There is a 1990 n/a 300zx a friend of a friend has for sale. the body of the 300zx is in much much better condition than my 240sx.

the question: what would be the way to go? a 300zx swap to twin turbo (i have read up about the swap, so if you are going to reply with how it would be better to just buy a TT 300zx, save it.) or keep the 240sx?

i dont want crazy horsepower, but it would be easier/cheaper to achieve with a vg30de than a ka24e IMO. The 240sx has rust that would definity need to be fixed, if it can even be fixed.

don't bother...

it's way too much work an money to convert the 300...

the 300 is uh...I dunno...

I need to make my brother sell his to get it outta the damn yard...

it's multicolored and has a nice dent in the quarter right behind the driver's door. and the transmission is shot (the moron neutral drops automatics...)

you could make a decent junkyard turbokit for what you'd pay for a VG30dett alone...

If you want the 300 you can get a vg30dett for 1200-1500 for the whole front clip from http://www.jhotexports.comhow much work is required on the 240.

the 240 has major rust on the frame in the engine bay, the urethane is coming apart from the frame, and the frame underneath is starting to rust apart, the paint is really **** too, the engine is pretty much missing everything electrical - the fuse box is just laying there and there is no wiring going to it, wtf is that about (i was stupid and didnt notice when i bought it), it needs a new fuel pump

obviously 16 years of south daktoa snow and salt has taken its toll on the underbody.. the 300zx on the other hand isnt rusted like the 240, and i were to get it, i would definitly store it for the winter

despite all that, the waaay original owner (friend of my brother) who owned the car before me, before the previous owner, before the previous owner, wants to buy back the car and restore it

THAT Z32 is only $1,100?!?!

BUY IT! Looks super clean.

Don't deal with a rusted car, more trouble than it's worth. Just be happy with a hella nice NA Z32 for now. NA Z's are cool too:)

At that price you better buy it.You'll spend that much money just fixing all your supports and rust damage reapir with ane paint job. Then you still got all your electrical issue you'd have to deal with.Maybe keep the 240 as your winter car.

They way you have explained it sound like you already have your mind made up and have no real choice. The 240 sounds pretty bad. I don't think you have an option, do you?

I would go for the 300z, much better looking car and just cooler overall.

The 240 was marketed as the bargain basement version of the 300 back then.

That's SUCH a clean Z. I can't believe you're going to get that for $1,100.

Does it have any problems? Get us some interior/engine bay shots.

That is a DEAL and a half man.

There's a Z that looks to be in that same condition for sale around where I live, but he's asking $2500 for it, and it doesn't run! I think that's a helluva deal that you're looking at.

Get the 300.

it has sparco adjustable seats inside, otherwise its pretty much stockonly problems lie within the auto transmission, second gear doesnt work

its parked just a few blocks from my house, on my way home from work i didnt see it parked at the house anymore, i hope its not sold allready

Honestly, you should have bought that Z immediately regardless of the transmission problems, BEFORE you decided. You could sell that Z for $2500+ EASILY, so had you decided not to keep it, you would have made a killing.

I didn't know it was an auto, that's sorta weak, but not the end of the world. You can either do a swap, or just leave it that way. I'd rather have an auto Z than an auto S13.

Hopefully it isnt' sold already. If it was me, I'd buy it, clean it up real good everywhere, then sell it again for at least double what you paid for it and make some cash. With the money you make, find some other car to buy, ie another 240 that isn't deteriorating.

I'd be all over that Z for 1100.
