I took a few new pics of my 1978 Datsun 620 truck today. Cleaned up the inside and oiled the dash. Soon its going to be time for some fresh paint. Got 3 colours in mind, blue like it is, factory orange or factory yellow from 1978.

Ill have a few post in here since you can only attach 1 pic at a time.

This is a shot of the outside

Heres the stock rubber floor mats. Blue was a rare colour for them and finding them in this shape is rare also.

And the new seat cover. I couldnt find one for the small size seat so i got one for a fullsize and made it fit. Its isnt pretty, but works great.

Props to you for keeping around a classic like that =) I used a diesel datsun king cab which looked alot like your truck for quite some time growing up until it finally kicked the bucket when I was 19 =(

The diesel models were 720 trucks, they are a little more squared off than mine. And yea ill be keeping this old thing around for along time. Its about 100 miles away from 79,000 so its just broke in. Maybe if i can find one ill stick a diesel motor in one of the other 2 620's i have.

This is a 720. This one lives right in front of me. Ive been trying to get the guy to sell it to me since it has all options (AC/PW/PL/Sunroof)and no rust at all. Needs a motor though.

Yea, that looks exactly like the pick-up I drove for three years =) Not the best get-up and go, but I'll be damned if it wasnt the most dependable vehicle I've driven with 200,xxx miles on it.

That truck used to have a Z24i motor in it. Damn those 8 plug motors. If i can get it im going to fit it with my spare L20b motor.

Looks great. Man... I don't know about the orange. My grandpa had an old 620 in the bright orange and one time I busted my head open on the corner of the tailgate playing butts up w/ my sister. Still got a scar, and probably a little orange paint stuck in the dome... maybe that's why I've been drawn to Datsuns and Nissans for so long.

the camper shell is being shed for a nice new tool box. Probley going with a white weather-gaurd box. They seem to last forever as we have one that is about 30 years old and still going strong. And right now the shell is very needed since ive got about $500 worth of tools in the bed.

Heres a fairly good pic of it without the camper.

how do yall think it would look with the bed hooks shaved off? They really dont serve any purpose to me since i can just stick a strap or bungie under the bed rail. About all they are good for is ripping my shirts.

have you ever shopped around for a motor on those trucks? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine has one and I have been thinking of getting it from him and restoring to working condition... however, if the motor is too expensive then I wont get it.

As for the piant, im talking about the colours, not real paint from 1978.

As for the motors, best way to find one is find a whole truck or car with one. I know of a yard down in SC that im going to try save the last 3 they have before they get smashed. I have 2 spares to rebuild down in SC if they are ever needed.

Where is this truck at? Im always in the market for another one. As of right now im about to head back to SC so i can make a little money to pick up a very nice one i found up here in TN. Its a 1979 King cab, black(faded), 130k on the clock, and only 2 small spots of surface rust. It seems that my luck has turned around for me on these trucks, my frist 2 were POS's.

And this is the colour im thinking of painting the king cab if i get it.

Very cool truck. I know it real well. My step mom had one that was green forever. Now she still has another one I think it's white. Uses it to haul gardening equipment around Whidbey IS. in Puget Sound.

that is the truck exactly. It is in AZ but I am not sure the guy is selling it. I have not approached him yet with the intent to get it from him.

Ohh an AZ truck should be very much rust free. Sucks its across the country. I dont think either of my trucks would like that trip pulling it back.
