I have a 93' 240sx Hatch Manual, pretty much stock except for a AEM short ram intake and F &R project mu B-force brake pads with brembo rotors.

One morning I was in traffic in 2nd gear at about 2-2.5k rpms, i tapped the brakes. After that the car started to jerk back and forth with some kind buckling sound. The rpm meter started going down at increments of about 200rpm, it didn;t constantly go down, but in small chunks. It was if my car was losing power or something. (I did not get back on the gas after I tapped the brakes). Thinking i might stall i immediately pushed in the clutch, put the car in neutral and everything was fine. I was thinking maybe i let the rpms go to low, while i was in traffic, but the car should NOT be jerking like that. I've stalled enough times to know this isn't normal, or that what i keep thinking. Anyway i always drive like that and never had this problem till now. I've had this car for about 2 years already and never seen this happen.

I did some tests on some stop signs, i've noticed that it happens if i tap the brakes quickly coming to a stop in gear. (tested it coming to a stop in 2 and 3 gear). If i just engine brake coming to a stop, then tap the brakes real quickly at around 2-2.5 rpms, it starts jerking back and forth, having buckling sounds. Also i have only been able to do this is in the mornings after a cold start. I was thinking maybe i didn't warm the car up enough, because i usually never have the time, but this situation has never happened before.

THis is really bugging me cause i keep thinking the car will start jerking now everytime i hit the brakes. Help!

Same thing happened this morning except that it started as i was braking to a stop in 2nd gear, and right after my car ran over bump on the road, the car started to jerk, stutter, lose rpms really quickly like it was gonna stall. Seems this problem comes up alot on this kind of uneven bumpy road i drive on every morning. Van Ness street for those who live familiar with san francisco...

Problems seems similar to this thread toohttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=100324

I'm thinking that i need a tune-up, cause i haven't tuned up the car since last december.

It sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere based on the bump or abrupt jerk from hitting the brakes, with the car idling start wiggling harnesses under the hood and see if any of them affect the idle quality.

Side note I always though Van Ness was pretty smooth? Havent been down it in awhile, last time I was down it I slobbered all over the window display where they have the lambo's..lol Is that place still there? cant remember the name of the place but all they sell there is exotic sports cars.
