While doing my weekly search for Kouki's for sale on autotrader and ebay I spotted a white 98 240sx. Looks good, only has 56,123 miles, automatic transmission, etc. There is less then one day left on the auction and I am very interested. The bidding is only at $ 2,550...odd, huh? And there is no reserve. For all of you who know me, you know how much I really want a Kouki. I really need all of your guys advice on this car, so please help me Let me know if anyone finds anything strange or wrong with the car or if anyone has ever dealt with this seller before. Here's the link to the auction:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

And here are a few things that I found wrong with the car:-No spoiler but he claims its a SE-Factory side skirts aren't on the car-No badges (on the trunk)-A noticable amount of wheel gap (more than usual for the 240's)-The seller has a few previous transactions that are strange -He sold a transmission off of a 97-98 240sx not too long ago http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...94313 -He sold a dash from a 97-98 240sx also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...44999 -And sold a front clip, hood, fenders, etc from a 97 240sx http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...85933

Also if anyone could run a carfax for me I would greatly apprecitate it...VIN Number: jn1as44d5ww107881

Thanks guys

If there was more time left on the auction I'd say to find a NICO'er in that area of NY and have them take a look for you.

I'd certainly do it if it were in my area.

Best of luck with this.

Hmmm,$2500 does seem odd...To be perfectly honest I dont think its an SE,It has the wrong parts as you mentioned and interior isnt the grey diomond print as I've seen on SE's.

the only think it has going for it is the 5-lug

As for the weird parts he sold, I don't think its much to worry about, Id be more concerned with the cold air intake having hydrolocked (or done damage to) the engine for it to be going that cheap

good luck with search... lol, I know how you want a kouki

***edit*** It also doesnt have SE foglights as he mentions...

I have always found that auctions on ebay usually blow up when it gets close to ending. Keep an eye on it and see, I'll bet it goes for alot more. But its ebay so you never know. Some auctions just go unnoticed. Good Luck with finding yourself a Kouki

Im not sure if its the same car or not. The listing was for a 97 front clip and hes selling the car as a 98, same thing but who knows. I also just noticed in the pics of the front clip that the passenger side door is missing. And the headlights have some kind of black tape or something on them (eyelids??) but who would put them on a kouki.

Thanks everyone for your help and comments...I hope to find the perfect white kouki soon

Didnt notice the door missing in that pic. Maybe its the angle, but it looks like it was hit behind the front passenger side wheel. He says the drivers fender is damaged, but it looks good in the pics. Maybe it was the passenger fender (and door) that got damaged.

BTW, the surest way to tell if its really a SE is to look at the wiper switch. All SE's came with variable intermittent wipers, and no base models did. If someone was trying to fake an SE, I doubt they would think about changing the wipers...

^^^your absolutly right, good call...it looks as though it has the variable intermitant wipers in the pics, cause i know the single speed wipers have a thin look much like S13's have

Hmmm......lots of fishy stuff on this car

-headlights are the same as the ones supposedly sold with the "clip"...note the electrical tape-intake on the 97 that he sold the clip from had the same intake that's on the "98"-as you stated, no spoiler, doesn't look to have fogs, no skirts, etc-high bidder before had very similar name to the seller-him selling stuff similar makes me wonder what its been through and what he's changed and all that

Like I said earlier....I really want to get you into a white kouki, and we will soon. Just don't know if this is the right one. If things were as they should be with this car we'd be buying it tomorrow

i think its bs, totally nothing to lose sleep over.

1: the pic of the engine bay is TOTALLY FISHY, seeing that on my right side the door mirrors are white and on my left side they are black & all the other pics have both white door mirrors.

2: wtf is the black stuff on top of the headlights? electric tape?

engine bay is pretty dirty compared to mine, and my '97 Se has 30k more miles then his does...

im totally thinking its a s14 zenki with a front end/ rear tail light conversion from a kouki. but i could be wrong.

Thanks guys for all your help and opinions Yeah i think I'm gonna pass on this one, too many questionable things wrong with it. Let's hope whoever wins the auction doesnt have to many problems with the car. I'll let you all know how the search goes and hopefully I'll have one soon.

that sucks, but better to pass and wait for the right one than get antsy and get into a nightmare you'll regret later. Good choice, and good luck on finding one soon.

Anyone that sells that much in "parts" ina two month period for more than 1 car would make me leary.

As others have said, smells fishy, cut bait and try for another.

Ok, guy replied to our questions to seller....

Steph asked about the spoiler and side skirts and he said that the trunk with spoiler had been scratched and wasn't clear coated so he put a different one on. Interesting. As for the side skirts he says he was going to put a body kit on it so he sold them but then changed his mind.

Good luck to whoever buys this car. Got a feeling that she's gonna be full of problems.

At least he replied...theres a lot of other questions I'm curious to ask him about but we'll leave it at that, the car is not worth it at all.

In case anyone was wondering...right now theres 2 hrs left on the auction and there have been 28 bids. Current bid is at $5100. Should be interesting to see how much it sells for lol

It's only questionable if you know to ask the questions...

I bet the buyer didn't.
