DIY- Pulley Bearing?

Hey it's EQwhipD again form NC. O.K. so last night I crank up my car and I hear a loud whining noise in my engine bay. It got louder when engine revved up, and didn't get louder when making turns, so I can rule out power steering system. I did the "search" for "engine noise" and there was one that mentioned that the noise is caused by a bad pulley bearing. If so, is this a DIY, or does this involve plenum removal? thanks for your help fellas!- EQwhipD

A pulley is easy to replace. I assume you're referring to the belt pulleys on the front of the engine?

Assuming it is that pulley, just be careful as when my belt tensioner pulley went out, it squeaked for about 3 seconds before snapping the belt. FWIW, 3 belts, tensioner and labor was ~$200 from my dealer. It was cold and the dead of winter, it was worth it to me.

Defintely replace the bad tensioner and inspect the other ones...

Replace all the belts too... pretty easy job, maybe 2-3 hours.

I have 6 extra of the bearings needed for the pulleys --$10 a pair, takes 2 pair (one idler has 2 bearings)
