Well I've been floating around the forums for alittle over a year now and never really introduced myself. My name is Dan and I live in beautiful Youngstown Ohio. I am engaged to Crystal we have been together for 5 years in July. Here's a poopy pic of us at out companies X-mas partyShe likes cars just as much as I do which is great. She's not affraid to get dirty in the garage with the guys. I've always wanted a 240 but never had a real reason to get one. Well about 2.5 years ago now my Z34's transmission puked so I got rid of it. Me and my fiance work together so I really didn't need a car right away. I turned away afew people that where selling their 240's but they where not what I wanted(SOHC). Then one day Crystal's sister calls and says that one of her guy friends is selling his 240, its a 93, and he's asking $700 with a bad transmission. Now I'm thinking great another bad transmission, but the kid says he has one out of the junkyard. So I talk to afew of my friends and they say it shouldn't be a problem. So I'm like screw it lets go look at it. So here's what we see:Now there are a few things to take note on in these pictures:1: look at the taillights real good, notice anything......2: kid claims he had professional body work done........3: body lines, one-side has them, the other don't.......4: You can't see them but the turn signals in the bumper have arrows sprayed on them.......5: And oh yes the muffler ( if thats what you want to call it ) 6: No that is not primer, it is flat black rattle can I can say though the interior was in really good shape other then the infamous tear in the bolster on the drivers seat and it looks like they had bolted a large tach through the dash. Now my girl wants to hear the car run, should be no problem right.........wrong. Since the transmission was bad the kid started to take it out so the started was hanging down on the ground and all the bellhousing bolts have been removed except for one ( anyone that has swapped out an auto knows which one ) so I ask the kid " how much you askin?" he says $700. I'm like damn I cant even hear it run so I counter with $400, he says thats not enough, so I tell him call me when it doesn't sell and I'll buy it. Three days later he calls and says I'll sell it for $500, I talk it over with Crystal and she says its up to you but it better run. So I have AAA meet me at the car to have it towed home. We get it in the garage look around it, put some of the transmission bolts in, bolt the starter up, throw it on the battery charger, turn the key and.............it ran. No strange noises no leaks not nothing. I was happy, she was happy so we started to tear it apart. We took the transmission out of the trunk that came with the car and within 2 weekends we drove the car down the road. Then it was time to start working on the body.I had no choice but to remove the body lines from the car. It had been wrecked on the passanger side and when it was "professionally fixed" they did not put the large bodyline around the bottom back in. The trunk lid was hammered because they used spray foam in between the frame and skin which made it wavey, plus in the cars history it had OEM spoiler, then Big mofo wing and as you see when I got it it had nothing. So I bought a trunk lid and spoiler here on NICO from a member to resolve that problem. So now all the body work is done, it was something that I could not do all myself so I called in a favor to a friend. Ryan is all responsible for the body work and paint. It is something he does on the side but we all tell him he should do it all the time. So with lack of more pictures ( no digi have to have picture CD made ) here is how the car sits somewaht now:

We are getting ready to do the jams and will be doing the engine compartment next winter.

I will have more pictures as I can get them. This is all I have as of right now.

Now I would like to take this time to thank Crystal for putting up with long nights in the garage.

Ryan for doing all the body work and paint.

And of coarse NICO for having great members and insight, without you I'd still be trying to figure out where that last transmission bolt is.

HAHA that's a good one. I know it's horrible. I would get a BRM but I want to get just the muffler, a good friend of the family owes a muffler shop.

Get a BRM exhaust. I just had one put in my S14 Saturday morning and it sounds mean. Also the dual tip looks close to stock so it doesn't attract too much attention.

What plans do you have for the car? Suspension? Motor swap? N/A the hell out of the KA?

Well as of right now I got in on the S-Tech spring buy from everything nissan, still need to get struts. The car sits on ebay "coilovers" in the rear and cut springs in the front. Thats how it came. It also came with a rear strut tower brace and ebay CAI.Looks like I am leaning towards turbo KA but that is still undecided.

Well, "formally" Welcome to NICO.

nice little write up, and can't wait to see/hear more about what you've been able to do to your car. A gray 240 Coupe is something I've wanted for awahile, but I'm not willing to go the $500 car rooute and some guys just want too much for "decent" (non-swapped) drivers.

More Ohio on the NICO, woot.

Yeah, good job man.

What exactly is that exhaust made from? From your pic of it as you're restoring it, it looks like dryer tubing

Or is it a single-tip bolted/welded on the stock twin-tip?

LOL, No actually it is an actual muffler. I came with the car, waiting to change it until I have enough to do a complete exhaust ( which is soon, don't worry). I think it is a 6" tip. God I hate it.

gabossie - As of right now it is garage kept, still need to spray the door jams. After those are done we are wet sanding and buffing, then it will be on the road everyday.

Nice to meet you Dan Looks like you got quite a project on your hands with the 240 you bought. Good luck with that.

Have you and your fiance set a wedding date yet? Congratulations, you two are a cute couple. You picked a good one...she's into cars, cant get any luckier than that lol. I'm sure my boyfriend would second that.

You and Crystal should come to one of our car shows this summer. Your not too far from cleveland. There fun!!

Nice to formally meet you Danno! Hi Crystal! I too am impressed with the task you have undertaken and the progress you have made. There are so many people that take the wrong path with their cars. It's nice to see someone doing the right thing.

Are you going to throw some nice wheels on it or keep the stockers? And by the way, have you ever taken it off any sweet jumps?

NSR240sxe - We have had dates set and it seems something always comes up. We are planning on getting married on Put-In-Bay but she wants to go to Flordia. Which like I told her it doesn't matter to me as long we get married. We are planning on coming up to meet you guys sometime this summer, I've been keeping an eye on the regional meet section to keep updated. It only takes us about 45 min. to get up to Cleveland, we usually come up an walk around Tower City and we love to eat at Hard Rock, but want to try The House of Blues.

REPO - I am planning on keeping the stockers until probally next year. I work for a custom wheel wholesaler so wheels are a must, but we mostly cater to big trucks ( 20's to 26's ). We did get in some "tuner" stuff but the offsets are horrid +40/42 but the price is right. So I will try to get something to work (no sunkin wheels) until I can get something I really want.

Well actually my buddy has rented a shop/garage space which has a mezzanine in it. We tarped off the ceiling and opening with ventalation in the ceiling. When I have more pics avail you will be able to see what I'm talking about. Dust is minimal if at all. Nothing in the paint, we did get a few specs of dust in the last coat of clear which will wet sand out. We did 5 coats of color and 4 coats of clear.

The air compressor is from sears and they spray gun is from harbor freight. Yes harbor freight.

Air Compressor - http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...=TOOL

Spray Gun - http://www.harborfreight.com/c...43430

We have had no problems with the spray gun at all. My buddy has painted at least 8 complete cars with it.

Another car painted with same gun and compressor. I know its a honda but, whatcha gonna do....

Oh ya I think we have 16 light fixtures in there too. Yes its make shift but it gets the job done.

Well once we stripped the car to reveal the previous body work the quater panel and rocker where wrecked, actually torn and just filled with bondo. We cut out part of the quater and rocker and replaced with new metal thanks to a donar car at the junkyard.

I have to admit, I was very skeptical when we first bought this "project car" a little over a year ago. Throughout this past year though, I have just been so amazed with all the effort and time everyone has put into helping Dan & I get this poor car lookin' good again! I am really looking forward to being able to drive this "new" car up to Cleveland and meet some of you guys!!................ALMOST!!!!!

Well I have a small update for everyone. I did buy wheels from work even though I still have not finished the door jams or had it wet sanded and buffed but oh well. Spring fever hit me hard.

The wheels arre 18x7.5 with a 40 offset. I used 22540R18 up front and 25535R18 in the rear. So heres the pics.
