So we didnt get to make it out on wed due to rain and such, but luckily thus was much better.

We awoke and started prepping for the track. Fresh oil (motor, transmission, diff) and fresh coolant were put in. We also found time to steal poor Dans steering wheel (thats what he gets for leaving his doors unlocked).

We left at around 3pm and arrived at ??? o clock (I left my phone at home). I was zoned, sorta like I am now, as I was up early this morning to go beat the crap out of my neighboors dog for selectivly mating next to my window (I swear, it went on for an hr or so).

We found our way to the ticketing area and then we were letting the car cool down before I killed the motor, when all of a sudden we were approached by this odd German individual. He gave us his card:

and invited Jay and I to eat with him and his associated, because he "rarely ever see's any Nissan owners at the track".

We talked with him and he told us of all the test centers around here and how competitive it is here. We asked him about the GTR testing that is going on at Nurburg but he couldnt say much about it, which is understandable, so we didnt hassle him.

Oddly enough, he works for Nissan, lives in Germany, is surrounded by Porsches and Jag's every day during testing, and all he wanted to do is talk to us about foxbody Mustangs and Vettes.

When dinner was over, we parted ways. Jay and I headed over to the track to go get our ticket, pop my front camber out and set the damper to 4, and roll out on the ring.

Key points:

-While driving, both my brakes and rear cut springs (thats how the car came when I bought it) were giving me bad vibes. My rear Kei Office came in that day too, but I put off installing them as I didnt know what condition they were in and I didnt want to head out on possibly blown coils. I spun once on easily the hardest corner at Nurburgring when I over-anticipated how my rear suspension would act and the cut springs and small brakes came to bite me in the butt when I flew around, while spinning, I got myself off the course as quickly as I could to avoid a porsche enima.

-Shifting was done at 5.5-6k rpms, as this is my daily driver, and I wasnt going to go all out and possibly have to rent a car while I repair my get around vehicle.

-About 3/4ths through the video, I get behind a vette taping another vehicle in front of it. I kept wanting to pass, but I had a porsche right behind me and the driver kept acting like he was going to pass, but never did. Finally I got fed up with him and passed, and he blew by me seconds later.

-Nurburgring is a VERY hard place to keep your racing line as you have to constantly watch out for cars/bikes that are MUCH faster than you. I did as best job as I could, but always yeilded the right of way to the faster vehicles.

-On the final straightaway I did 170km and then let off, because again, I'm not trying to beat the crap out of my daily driver. It would have been a much different story if my HS13 was in this country.

And now, the video, enjoy: http://www.flohtingpoint.net/r...g.wmv

let me be the first to post a thank you for the vid! But, I gotta ask, why the hell did you play music through the whole thing, instead of just playing the audio that came w/ the video? I mean, if I wanted to hear music, I'll play it on my computer or home system. I wanted to hear how your car reacted to the track, and your comments on it. Also to those who want to watch this, I reccomend not watching up close...the camera shakes a lot in it and it can give you motion sickness. I backed away a bit and loved it though. If you can, repost an alternative with the original audio. That would kickass.

You can barely hear anything over Jay and I constantly shouting at each other, as he was my spotter, and quite alot of cars came my way or never passed me but got close. The camera's mic is terrible. Believe me, its worlds better w/out sound.

Hey, seriously, you hear nothing, Jay and I were constantly shouting at each other, its super annoying to listen to. There is also about a 2.5 minute section of static, as the camera we took has an audio issue we didnt know about (borrowed it from a friend).

Yea, sadly there are very minimal areas of stable ground on the ring. Alot of the corners feel like they're going to throw you, especially the two major banking curves. Go in shallow on the first w/out R-comps and you will get tossed a bit.

I Like it!! The music is fine with me, but as others said it'd be cool to listen to the mechanics of the drive..

We make monthly (sometimes twice a month) trips up there, so next time we'll try to grab a better camera, the only problem will be placing it, as they tend not to stay in place too well if mounted, due to the jagged terrain of the ring, so a passenger is usually needed.

That seems like it was a good day. Do they have tech inspections before they cut you loose? You don't understand how much I want to get out on a track.

so what do you have to do to get on the track? an inspection and release form? also what do they do, charge you by the lap?

Yea, it was a beautiful. Usually you have to be pretty jacket'ed up as its cold as hell there.

Sometimes they look at your car, but very rarely. You just sorta walk into the booth and say "I want a ticket for the ring" and you pay your 15 euro and then drive up to the gate, throw the card in they gave you (see picture) and then roll out.

I can imagine how much you want to drive on it man, I was probably the same way when we went the first time.

TurboKA: No release forms at all. There is a sign in german that says that this is considered a pseudo-public road and that the polezei (spelling?) are in charge here, so if you wreck they could find you at fault and such.

You're now officially my hero! Very nice ring run, the Adenauer Forst bit you in the *** pretty hard though. Glad your safe, I've seen some vids of people spinning on that turn, but going out into the grass + meeting the wall. Be glad that no officials saw you, cause they can charge you for any grass repairs from going off course.

I plan on driving on the ring eventually, although I doubt I'll ever be able to drive my own car on the ring, but that's ok.

Great vid, nice tunes, too bad the real sound couldn't be used, but that's still a great vid.

Sure, if you wanna get baptized by a BMW or a Porsche for getting sideways and taking up more of the coner than you should. I hate drifting with a passion, so I've never bothered to ask/try.

On the ring, its not like most tracks. Insurance counts and you'd be found at fault for the accident. Not a wise idea to do anything but go there and drive the track like you know it.

Great vid man. I am amazed at how well done GT4 is as far as the look in the game. Every time you came to a corner, I knew where it was in my mental map of the course. I wish I lived over there to drive that track...I will just have to settle with Suzuka and Tskuba if I ever get the ballz to go there and TA them.

Ah yea, the good ol days. Back when I was stationed at Yok, I used to tour that country all the time whenever I had leave, hitting up just about any track (even the drag strips) I could. The ones here in europe are all well and good, but I always felt safer back in Japan as if I busted something, I could always make my way to a boneyard and find a suitable replacement for dirt cheap.

I believe they're by DJ Icey =) I'm not that huge into techno so I dunno, I just heard them in a friends car and figured they'd go good on the video.
