So we didnt get to make it out on wed due to rain and such, but luckily thus was much better.
We awoke and started prepping for the track. Fresh oil (motor, transmission, diff) and fresh coolant were put in. We also found time to steal poor Dans steering wheel (thats what he gets for leaving his doors unlocked).
We left at around 3pm and arrived at ??? o clock (I left my phone at home). I was zoned, sorta like I am now, as I was up early this morning to go beat the crap out of my neighboors dog for selectivly mating next to my window (I swear, it went on for an hr or so).
We found our way to the ticketing area and then we were letting the car cool down before I killed the motor, when all of a sudden we were approached by this odd German individual. He gave us his card:
and invited Jay and I to eat with him and his associated, because he "rarely ever see's any Nissan owners at the track".
We talked with him and he told us of all the test centers around here and how competitive it is here. We asked him about the GTR testing that is going on at Nurburg but he couldnt say much about it, which is understandable, so we didnt hassle him.
Oddly enough, he works for Nissan, lives in Germany, is surrounded by Porsches and Jag's every day during testing, and all he wanted to do is talk to us about foxbody Mustangs and Vettes.
When dinner was over, we parted ways. Jay and I headed over to the track to go get our ticket, pop my front camber out and set the damper to 4, and roll out on the ring.
Key points:
-While driving, both my brakes and rear cut springs (thats how the car came when I bought it) were giving me bad vibes. My rear Kei Office came in that day too, but I put off installing them as I didnt know what condition they were in and I didnt want to head out on possibly blown coils. I spun once on easily the hardest corner at Nurburgring when I over-anticipated how my rear suspension would act and the cut springs and small brakes came to bite me in the butt when I flew around, while spinning, I got myself off the course as quickly as I could to avoid a porsche enima.
-Shifting was done at 5.5-6k rpms, as this is my daily driver, and I wasnt going to go all out and possibly have to rent a car while I repair my get around vehicle.
-About 3/4ths through the video, I get behind a vette taping another vehicle in front of it. I kept wanting to pass, but I had a porsche right behind me and the driver kept acting like he was going to pass, but never did. Finally I got fed up with him and passed, and he blew by me seconds later.
-Nurburgring is a VERY hard place to keep your racing line as you have to constantly watch out for cars/bikes that are MUCH faster than you. I did as best job as I could, but always yeilded the right of way to the faster vehicles.
-On the final straightaway I did 170km and then let off, because again, I'm not trying to beat the crap out of my daily driver. It would have been a much different story if my HS13 was in this country.
And now, the video, enjoy:
