I bought some of this:

I took a whiff, and it smelled JUST like watered down dish soap. It was also a bit bubbly when I poured it in -- just like soap! It actually smelled a bit pleasant and poured clear. Is this really nothing but soap?

The reason I got it is because I foolishly decided to use "Liquid Aluminum" to seal coolant leaks until I could replace the under-plenum hoses. Now, I think some cooling passages are clogged. Running with just distilled water, the Q sometimes gets a bit warm/hot.

Your running your car on straight water? Or distilled water/coolant mix?

Well the car is not supposed to run on pure water. Could cause your slight overheating. I had a chart somewhere that showed how much effect the right coolant/water mix had on combustion chamber temps but I cant find it right now. However the proper 50/50 mix is imperative in keeping the engine cooled off properly.

I would use the stuff you bought to flush it out, then flush with water a couple times and finally fill her up with 50/50 mix and you should be good to go.

Pure water has the highest heat transfer ability......primarily you need the anticorrosion additives in AF.

Many use 20-25% AF in Summer vs 50/50 in winter.........as long as you monitor the coolant [PH+] to avoid acidic situations [ethylene glycol degrades to acids without additives].

Many cities have very bad tap water [chemicals added to claify and desludge] for engines.

Jesda,

Is that the kit that contains also a hose and a bucket? I've seen one up here that does.

Water Wetter is preferred by Q owners in the south and southwest. Seems to work well.

Should be used by everyone...

It may increase temps as read by the sensor, but it wil reduce temps at the heads which is what is more important......!
