We had 3 Q45's (2 1995 & a mysteriously fast 1996) tonight at Moroso. It was real fun to see the other Q' out there being so well represented. Anyway...I am just going to post my best time slip as I did 8 runs and all were pretty consistent except for the time I spun the crap out of the back tires and managed a wonderful 16 sec ET.

R/T…....0.34760'….....2.245330'…...6.2781/8…....9.474MPH..….76.891000'….N/A1/4…....14.486MPH…...98.82

I had 2 runs in the 14.4's and the rest in the low 14.5's except for my tire spinning run which really sucked blowing the entire run due to massive tire spin.

Both Fastlane and 95BlackQ did awesome as well with FastLane taking the opportunity to break in his new OEM transmission at the track tonight.

I had a guy in a Jetta come up to me in the end and asked how the car did and said that they sure don't build them like the old 90-96 Q45's anymore who expressed appreciation for the 1st generation Q's. I also spanked (well only by 0.1 secs) a 1988 Mustang 5.0 that had a true trunk, not hatch back that was totally worked over with a similar setup as my car being no cats, headers, a/F ratio, fuel pressure regulator. We were neck & neck right from the start with me pulling on him slightly in the end. When we finished he could not believe how fast the Q was even with all my mods. I also met up with the Mustang that I beat 2 times my last trip to Moroso. We ran against each other twice again tonight and I got him my 0.1 secs the first run and then he got my by 0.1 secs the second run again which was really fun to run side by side from the starting line in such a tight race.

Everybody loved my new wheels which was nice to see as well. I thought my new wheels slowed me down somewhat, but after the dealer bumped up the timing to 17 from 15 I think it made things all equal again. The dealer came through in a big way for me today...they got the timing adjusted and fixed the tire wiggle issue and now it is so smooth and controlled feeling.

Also of course it was a lot warmer and more humid tonight which did not help things.

btw...I will post/email the other timeslips if anybody really wants them. I will also send Wes the video of the Q's racing. We got 1 or two nice runs video taped with many thanks to 95BlackQ (Larry's) friend.

yes...this was with my 18" wheels. I am thinking that given the bump in timing and warmer weather, that the 18" wheels have resulted in about an additional 0.1 secs ET which is something I can live with. I was thinking that I was back in high 14's, but still solidly running low 14.5's.

I think Fastlane got a 15.4 in his mysteriously fast 1996 Q45. He ran several runs close to his best time of the night.

I think 95BlackQ ran around a 15.4 also. He has a sweet black on black loaded 95 Q45 that is totally stock.

All the other runs are sitting on my desk waiting to be typed....I am just too lazy to type in my other 7 timeslips tonight.

So fastlane's is stock? I think the 1996 G50 are downrated for no particular reason other than the lack of VVT. On the other hand, the OBD II should give a more accurate Fuel/Air Ratio reading than less intelligent, slower, and fewer sensored OBD I, so some of the power lost may have been thus regained at higher rpms.

Maybe I am naive, but I think Infiniti would have down rated the engine if it didn't meet it's advertised horsepower. The Japanese are terrified of our litigous ways, and will avoid legal action in the US at all costs .

Well my best was a 15.5 @91.5 so Fastlane, with his 15.4 got a better time than me last night. Then we ran identical times each run after that.

Rob, that best et you posted above is from the run we had against eachother when I got a 15.6 @91.4. How did the video come out from that run?

As good as your rims look on your Q, I think .1 secs is nothing. I thought your Q looked good in the pics you posted before, but it looks a whole lot better in person when you can see it from all angles. Its given me a lot of direction for where I want to go with mine which is bone stock down to the air filter. I still have a few things left to fix on it, and then I'll start some mods. It'll take a whole lot to hang with you though...lol

Good fun last night.......I was concerned that the 96Q wouldn't run as good as before, but it seems to be ok, especially since it was about 80 degrees and humid.

Rob's car looks awsome with those wheels, it transforms the car into a very contemporary looking one.......really nice and still really fast.

It was nice to to meet Larry(Black 95Q) his car looks clean and and runs good.

Here is my best run :

R/T......... .31760'.......... 2.440330......... 6.781/8.......... 10.17mph........ 73.271000...... n/a (broken right lane)1/4......... 15.425mph........ 92.78

I don't think i'll racing at the track much more since I've answered my question about the car's performance before and after the new transmission (I'll still kick some but on my weekly 90 mile commute) I'd like to get another 100k out of her, and being practically ten years old with 160k, I'll be treating her with more respect.

Cruising home last nightat 90mph in myQ45 I was close to nirvana......... -----------------------------------------------------------

Hey FastLane....

It was great to run with you also last night at Moroso and Larry as well.

Eddy....be sure to ask for Steve Fisher @ Warren Henry Infiniti next time you need service and be sure to tell him you bought two cars from South Infiniti and always to dealer servicing, but yet they would not provide you a rental car when they charged you $900 in labor install for your new transmission. I got a G35 loaner for just my timing and alignment which came to $275.

I will most likely be taking a break from Moroso as well unless I should feel the need to beat up on a few Mustangs or get another mod. I redline my enough on a daily basis to and from work. It is such an adrenaline rush to race a slightly modded Mustang and to beat him or only loose by 0.1 seconds. The look on their face is definitely priceless when you can hang with them right from the starting line and start to pull them in around 60mph.

Hi Rob.......In all fairness to South Infiniti....they gave me a free rental(Hundaiii) but I was looking forward to a G35...I would think it's free advertising for them.

Yeah.... I,m still racing everyday..I thoroughly intimidated two new Acura TL's that were playing on my way home tonight (Fl. Turnpike)...Maybe next winter I'll get the urge for Moroso....it's too much fun.

That must be a new policy, South Infiniti always gave me an I30 when Id drop my car off for the day. Whereas Warren Henry I found to be extremely overpriced and rude. Id drive from Boca down to Miami just to go to South Infiniti rather than WH. My 2 cents.

My local dealer will give free loaners, but requires a couple weeks notice. Which isn't always possible, but I think realistic.

I know not all dealers aren't keeping the "Total Ownership Experience" in mind .

Good runs BTW Rob, I'd be interested what you can do with some super sticky tires on the BBS' . It may not be as much fun going to the drag strip with the BBS, but that adds to the WTF feeling of the guys that get beat by the big 4 door.

NY.....It's a new policy ..I've always been pleased with the service there. Next time I'll tell them I can get a loaner from their competition.

Your J30 reminds me of my first Infiniti (94 J30T)...I really loved that car...got totaled when some jerk lost control in the rain and knocked me into a concrete highway divider. The Insurance got me into my 96 Q45.

I laugh when I see the Mercedes add about the new style being a four door sports car....Infiniti did it a long time ago with the J30.

You got to be frickin kidding me! Another reason each one of us needs to cultivate a good realtionship with the best service writer at the local dealer.

I sulked when I got an I35, but not too much. Now they know I prefer the G35 and are happy to give me one. Neither did I buy there nor am I the original owner.
