Wassup everybody....I NEED HELP. My 96 I30 isn't passing state inspections. In the past i have gotten an O2 sensor code but for some reason most recently it didn't come up...I want to knock out any possibility of the recall being the issue so does anybody know what was done to the infinitis in detail because my car never had the "recall" performed on it and the Infiniti Dealers won't do it because its a salvaged title...I have run the codes and im getting a few EVAP related ones and a knock sensor related one and theres also been an O2 sensor code.

Since your car is a duplicate of the max i am not sure what recall your reffering to on the 96, I know there was an alt recall on the max but that is the only one I am familier with.

on 2 your codes. The o2 is likely malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. The evap code is likely for the purge volume control valve located on the intke plentium about dead center in the back of the engine compartment on top. There was a technical service bulletin on it and a service file on the parts to replace it with a new design. although they have also been known to have vent control valve problems too.

The knock sensor isnt really required to pass smog but for optimum performance I do recommend replacing it.

This shows the "recall" that was issued and like Advanced Auto Parts shows it too. Can you tell me more about the TSB on the PVCV how can i clean the system or somehting ...a sight to a detailed TSB or something would be great. I opened up the whole housing of the PVCV and found that the valve is a solenoid that can be adjusted so i did until i couldn't get air through it i have yet to check if the codes have disappeared.

I completly for got about that recall as at the time it seemed a bit rediculas all you did was add a water seperater after the vent valve on your canister. I believe thats the one you have listed. the way to tell is to look at your evap canister [located behind your left rear wheel under the car] look for the biggest hose coming off the canister and follow it. at its end should be a round small black canister looking thing, if not and its just a rubber tip it hasent been done. The round 2 port canister is the water seperater.
