So long story short, my bf's Z developed a severe rod-knock issue (we believe, don't know for sure), so instead of trying to fix the n/a engine (for now, I think he intends to rebuild it later) he dropped some cash down on a front clip. Came today, a lot more screwed up looking than we expected, but the engine looks good. Here are the pics:

almost forgot...!The recipient:

Not bad surprisingly. All the accessories are out, and the harness is unclipped, and the engine is unbolted from the engine mounts. So its ready to be pulled. I just realized i work till 6pm on Saturday, so i have to manage to get out early to meet you at the house. I mean, i have to be a host. :P

I think we're good in the tool department, he bought most of the stuff he needs for the swap. We have an air compressor, the cherry picker, etc. If you have something that's unique i'd bring it. But other than that i think we're cool. Why aren't you on aim homeslice?

What you doing with what's left of the front clip after swapping out the motor? There are a couple parts I might be interested if he's gonna sell some stuff....mainly the hood prop

J-Spec: The motor's out! (the n/a one) and the TT motor is ready-to-go and strapped to the hoist. It would be awesome if you stopped by Saturday (the day of the East Coast Z meet) to help us out. It would be cool if we meet some Z32 people at the meet who could help with the mess of vacum lines in the back. That's going to be the hard part.

NSRZ32: I'll let him know if your'e interested. The calipers have some dibs on them already, and I am going to snatch the brake dust shields and see if i can weld them on to my car, since we had to rip the stock ones off to fit my 26mm z32 brakes on. It sucks nothing else is salvagable on the car, the hood is crap, the fenders, the headlights are shattered, we have ONE good turn signal, the bumper is screwed, and for a minute we thought the air ducts/tunnels for the intercoolers were damaged but they seem to be 'ok' along with the radiator. But those are items that will be getting upgraded in the future.

Here are another pic:

The sob engine wouldn't sit on the engine stand since it was so top-heavy, so we sat it on a palette (sp?).

More pics to come!

Do the plenums serve any purpose? Because my friend has a Z31 n/a 2+2 (gorgeous and for sale btw) and its engine bay is no where near as cramped as the Z32 and there is an absence of plenums.

Yes. Plenums work kinda as a collector to distribute the air evenly. Theres alot more theory to it than that, but don't leave them off

haha, no, we know they're needed, they are just a nuisance since they block everything else.

the vacumm lines on this clip is nuts!

The Z31 has a plentium it sits atop the intake manifold. it is the peice with the NISSAN 3000 cover on it. It is just alot smaller since it only has one intake port instead of 2. Also the Z31 is single overhead cam where the Z32 is dual and has extreamly wide heads. It is the only car in nissans line up with that head configuration. on the infiniti side the J30 has the same setup.

Me.

Took a damn long time to draw the front of that engine, and i ended up running off the page because of the crank pulley.

Sorry for the super-late update guys, but the TT engine is IN! (for real this time). He actually got it in a couple of weeks ago from today.

I'll try to post up some pics in a bit, it's freakin loud because its running on the downpipes supplied by the clip, it started on its first try too! My bf had a tech from United Autosales (Z dealership in DE here, kinda-sorta famous) stop by and make sure everything was ok. It was running bad at first because of a bad engine ground but the Nissan dealer found it and corrected it (he just got a job at Nissan which is nice for discounts). The coolant temp sensor was causing an erratic idle, and he picked up a new one at discount.

Anyway, it's running decent so far, just needs and exhaust. Does anyone know if the HKS hiper he bought when the car was n/a still hook up to aftermarket downpipes?

I dunno, i'll try to convince him. But he definitely is going to come to the next event this May, he owes me. Plus i think he'll have a hell of a time doing ride-along's with other people too. He's uber green with auto-xing

So then, aftermarket TT downpipes will not line up/hook up to the 3" HKS Hiper?

Is the thread dead? If not I would really like to buy the brake master cylinder off of your clip.
