The only sure-shot additive I know of is extra fuel.

If it sounds too good to be true...

http://www.lubedev.com/articles/alcohol.htm

Much of what he says in the above anti- alcohol article is true "in my opinion".

However with O2 controlled OBD ecu not sure if anything could improve cruise mileage by more than 10%..............the ecu can only lean the mixture by so much from the 14.7 nominal............for sure the oxygenates fool O2 and ecu into running richer than 14.7 [by what ever extra oxygen is added to gasoline mixture].

The ecu has a normal rich [for safety bias].......if O2 get sluggish [from age] which oxygenates take advantage of.........so sluggish O2 and oxygenates are extremely bad combination............but MTBE is an oxygenate so one wants non oxygenated fuels PERIOD.

Even EPA confirms oxygenates do this, along with gasoline MARKETEERS.

Compared with all the off shelf products [fuel system cleaners] 1 Ounce of acetone per 10 gallons [premixed properly] is probably benign compared to a 1 gallon [ethanol/water mixture] in 9 gallons of gasoline at the pump.

I'm not suggesting it just that it will probably do no harm if premixed properly...............we put 11 ounces of BG 44k in 10 gallons of gasoline. It apper that some of the chemical codes [ingredents] might be related.

You can always use the unused acetone as paint thinner.

It is important to learn the chemicals in gasoline and what each is there for as most are not just haphazardly added or just by products of the refinery process..........each refinery is different and thus each natural ouput varies with the oil inputed then things are added to make a functional product.

It was in my gas tank this weekend when I got the 25mpg........I read the article earlier in the week and could find no fault or danger in that amount of acetone...all my friends think I'm an idiot for trying but I'm curious....Wal-mart has 100% pure acetone in 16oz bottles for $2..........

If you try it -----buy a gallon of gasoline [portable can] and premix shake then pour the gallon into tank, that way at least what ever additive is prediluted by 2/128= to less than 1%.................just in case the density differences send it straight to bottom center [fuel pump pickup point].

At least these experiments do no harm..........m/p-xylene, toluene, acetone, isopropyl alcohol [dry gas].............avoid methanol [rubber fuel hose damage for sure].

Avoid organo-metallics octane enhancers [like Manganese [tetraethyl lead replacement]] as it leaves crud on plugs and piston tops and deactivates the cats after a time.

Interesting study what happens to human blood after filling your tank up!http://www.epi.hss.state.ak.us...0.pdf

Checkout this seal compatability chart with Acetone:http://www.efunda.com/designst...etone

Isn't INET wonderful this blog and others will carry the message [true or false] around the world quickly..........acetone sales will double.http://blog.planetpreterist.co...d=214

Specific gravity 0.784-0.786

Specific gravity is the comparison of the weight of fuel in relation to the weight of water. If water is rated as a value of one, then gasolines (since they are lighter) are specified as a percentage of 1. Many street unleaded 92-octane gasolines measure from 0.75 or higher, while leaded race and unleaded 87-octane street gasolines can test below 0.75. This is important, since the specific gravity of a particular fuel affects the mass of fuel that can pass through a jet orifice.
