Much of what he says in the above anti- alcohol article is true "in my opinion".
However with O2 controlled OBD ecu not sure if anything could improve cruise mileage by more than 10%..............the ecu can only lean the mixture by so much from the 14.7 nominal............for sure the oxygenates fool O2 and ecu into running richer than 14.7 [by what ever extra oxygen is added to gasoline mixture].
The ecu has a normal rich [for safety bias].......if O2 get sluggish [from age] which oxygenates take advantage of.........so sluggish O2 and oxygenates are extremely bad combination............but MTBE is an oxygenate so one wants non oxygenated fuels PERIOD.
Even EPA confirms oxygenates do this, along with gasoline MARKETEERS.
Compared with all the off shelf products [fuel system cleaners] 1 Ounce of acetone per 10 gallons [premixed properly] is probably benign compared to a 1 gallon [ethanol/water mixture] in 9 gallons of gasoline at the pump.
I'm not suggesting it just that it will probably do no harm if premixed properly...............we put 11 ounces of BG 44k in 10 gallons of gasoline. It apper that some of the chemical codes [ingredents] might be related.
You can always use the unused acetone as paint thinner.

It is important to learn the chemicals in gasoline and what each is there for as most are not just haphazardly added or just by products of the refinery process..........each refinery is different and thus each natural ouput varies with the oil inputed then things are added to make a functional product.
