My dust boots on my "a" need replacing as they are torn. I had my Scottsdale Infiniti parts sent direclty to my mechanic for install. He as not worked on an "a" before so had to rely on his manuals. He stated that the manual instructed him to re-charge the accumulators which he is not equiped to do.

My question is - must I have new accumlators in order to change my dust boots? My tech stated that the pressure in the accumulators must be released in order to remove the acutators - is this true?

Thas's a lot of BS. You DO need to release the OIL pressure. The best way is to open the 'flush valve' on the multi-valve unit (driver side front fender well) by screwing IN on that valve to open the main pressure control valve. Then open the bleeders on top of each strut to check that all the pressure is , in fact, gone. There are also 'bleeders' on each of the pressure control valves (2 right front, 2 right rear) that will release any pressure on the struts. Be sure he loosens the 'top nut' on the front struts per the book before removing the strut or else he ain't gonna get them loose. Drop me a line off line ([email protected]) and I'll send you a simplified flush/bleed procedure.

Tom-i've just ordered the 4 boots and 2 front bounds [the joust bumpers or whatever you want to call them--sit over the strut piston to help cushion a hard bottoming]. don't have 'em yet. I asked Joe to send me diagrams, which i'm sure he will when he gets a minute. i think it's one of those things that will make sense when it's apart---i just can't visualise it yet. If you do this soon, please take pix and I'd appreciate any pointers. liewise, I'll do the same. better yet, come on down, and we can have a double-active party!

Jay - what's your 20?

Don't know when I'll be able to GTG though I'd love to. My job is TOOOOO Crazy!!!! I've been having to work nights and weekends to keep up (I'm somewhat new so I'm hoping some day to have a bit more time).

Texasoil. Thanks for your input as always. Sorry I've been dragging my *** in regards to ordering accumulators. It may be some time before I do as I've got a lot to un-tangle in my life right now as most of it's a big mess right now!
