Drifting in GT is t3h easy.
Turn off all driving aids, except I leave the ASM on level 1 for my most powerful cars.
Then add simulation tires, this especially helps the lower-powered cars like the AE86.
And if you don't already use the manual transmission option in the game, start, gives you infinitely better control during the drift, and you can always upshift then quickly downshift again to re-plant the tires to the pavement when coming out of a slide to avoid overdoing it.
