I will check. But it does seem to associated more with oil issues. When I add Marvel it goes away rather fast. Where is the cooling fan so I can check it?

Sounds like HLA noise (AKA Lifters)... I assume the noise changes with engine speed? The MMO is probably helping to clean out the ports on the HLA. I'd put in several ounces of MMO right before the oil change and let it idle for a while. You might also search for the Mobil 1 ATF trick, and BGQuick Clean. The one thing to always remember with oil flushes is take it easy! If you're too aggressive you can trash your engine by loosening up too much stuff at one time and clogging the oil pick-up tube in the oil pan!Good luck! Heath

You nailed it. It sounds exactly like that. I will try that BGQuick clean this weekend and let you know what happens. If not, I read about the ATF and it sounds like that will be the last resort. Thanks a lot.

Per Q45Techs recommendations, I would change the oil first (with the cheapest conventional oil and filter you can find)... add 1/2 can of Quick Clean, idle for the time it says on the can, then immediately drain. Add more conventional oil, another new cheapie filter, and run the other half of the can through at idle for the time specified. Then drain again, and fill with whatever type of oi and filterl you normally use. I've also heard from a few techs. that BG MOA is a good additive to help with HLA noise... you might try it in your final oil fill. It's a pretty common Nissan problem, so they may be on to something. Heath

Heath -I will do exactly as you state. i must let you know one thing. I went to an automtove store to buy BG Qucik Clean and they never heard of it. I did find an oil additive by Gunk that said it would do what you said. So I tried it becuase I won't get to the oil change for a bit. IT WORKED! All the noise went away. You are a genius! I will try to find the BG Quick and do the oil flush also. thaks a lot. I really appreicate it.

BG products are typically only sold at dealerships and service centers... Glad what you tried worked! I would still follow it up ASAP with an oil change... Heath

Question? I have a Q45 and I've been having problems ever since I got it(94) I put another engine inside (40,000mi) and my old mechanic said somthing was wrong with the oil pump. Any advice?Alsoit was sitting in a Junk Yard the engine for a while and the oil pump could be good but it could be the pick up tube or the screen may be clogged. Hey im just trying to save money and not be charge 20 hrs. of labor. If u could give advice It would be a help to me

Don't quite understand your question or why a mechanic would install an engine with a known bad oil pump.Clearance to the pump pickup is critical, and if the oil pan is bashed in any at all, pump can starve and engine will not last long.

Products not safe for the general monkey population to use as prescribed and thus only available to trade professionals to use correctly under the right circumstances for which the products were intended.
