I believe it to be a short as well. After putting in a smart glow fuse (10 amp) in the backup light fuse slot, proceeded to start the car it worked great but then depressed shift lock and pedal, it shifted but as it passed reverse the fuse blew and began to glow red. I installed a new fuse and removed the remote started cpu just in case and same thing happened, fuse blew. Wes, you said that your Q had the same issue, where was the short? Shift lock cpu? Would the shift lock cpu have something to do with my car not shifting into 1st, 2nd or 4th...or do you think its two different issues? Anyone? Anyone?

Have you tried replacing one of the main fuses?

Is it the fuse for the brake lights? That will prevent the shift lock from working too. You probably have melted bulb tips or bad sockets on the brake lamp circuit.

Are you saying that the shift lock wont work if the light bulbs are out??

Green, my Q had a short in a couple places... Ill have to check the records to verify..... I seem to remember it being on the trunk arm and also somewhere in the harness in the rear...

I know i have a jerry rigged setup, probably why my shift lock doesnt work.....

Gnik"Have you tried replacing one of the main fuses?"

Which fuse do you speak of?

I replaced the backup light fuse underdash fusebox.

"Is it the fuse for the brake lights? That will prevent the shift lock from working too. You probably have melted bulb tips or bad sockets on the brake lamp circuit." Heath

The break light fuse is ok it's the Backup light fuse that keeps blowing.

If I move the shifter is moved passed reverse the fuse DOES NOT blow.only if I dwell in reverse.

Here is the best part....

If the fuse does not blow the transmission shifts fine.

Will somebody try driving with the backup fuse pulled and see if there transmission shifts normal or not...

Thanks

Could someone PLEASE pull the backup light fuse on there G50\Q45 and see if it affect the shift lock and transmission shifting.

If that fuse blows in my Q I must override the shift lock and the car won't shift out of third whrn placed in any drive gear.

Reverse gears is what blows the fuse so I will start my short hunting @ the trunk lid wire harness.s

I would just like to know if any other G50\Q45's that do the same thing if that fuse is blown or pulled or if I have a lot more troubleshooting to go.

Thanks
