My M45 seems to be accurate, but I had a Jeep Cherokee that did what yours is doing.

| Has anyone had a problem with their fuel gauge? I have a 2004 M45 and ran out of gas the other day. My gauge showed over a 1/4 tank and the computer said 90 more miles until empty. |
Very common problem among Y34s (mine for one). If you ultimately want it fixed, it will take a trip to the dealership to have the gauge cluster replaced.

You may need to print it out and take it with you to the dealer and push them to give you a fix. If the car is out of warranty, then you need to push them a bit - may need to contact Infiniti Corporate about the issue.
