Post Title: j30 bogs out over 2500rpm
Posted by: Jebadiah at 2:06 PM 6/24/2009

I have a 1995 j30 and yesterday as I was pulling into my driveway the engine light came on and it started running a little rough. This morning i had a hard time getting it going buy eventually i got it running ok with one exception. Below 2500rpm it runs fine but it bogs out over 2500rpm. i figured it may have been the fuel filter so i changed that but it didnt help at all. Any ideas what might be causing the problem? Thanx for and direction.

Have you checked the codes that lit up the Check engine light ??
That might help narrow it down.

ok so I checked the codes and it was code number 12 which was Mas Air Flow Sensor. I had already replaced the fuel filter and had no difference. I pulled the MAS and cleaned it with MAS cleaner but it was really clean to start with. That also made no difference. I think I may have no choice at this point but to take it in for analysis to pinpoint the issue. Any other ideas?

Check the FSM MAF trouble-shooting and specs pages, and disconnect/clean/reconnect the harness connectors to the MAF.

If it comes down to it, I believe there are MAF soldering/repair instructions floating around here somewhere and it doesn't sound like anything other than an OEM replacement unit really works.
