I have to agree. I kept it straight filthy dirty in this mix. Makes it for an enjoyable listening experience when you have a sub bangin along with it.
Alot of these tracks hit real hard in really low frequencies.
Glad you liked it.

Absolutely
Im running a Klipsch Synergy Sub-12 So my bass gets ridiculous and this mix really puts the sub through its paces. But thats the reason i bought it. I wanted that stomach destroying bass.
Its an amazing mix, and so far my favorite from you by quite a bit.

Bass is my friend.
As for the mix thanks. This is by far my favorite as well. I spent alot of time searching for just really filthy and dirty dubstep to put into the mix. Started creating this mix since I released my last one. Kept changing things, from track layout to how things dropped.
Eventually I got enough tracks together and made a great flow.

| Anyone hear any level problems? I burnt this on a cd for my friend and we listened to it in his car and some tracks were way louder than others. Was that something anyone noticed? It could be the CD. |
No level problems my end. But then again i play directly off my PC to Amp.
So maybe when burnt to CD something goes wrong.

I could really only bring some decks but club standard decks are CDJ 1000's (1400 bucks each) and I only have CDJ 400's. As well as my mixer isnt club standard and well the only thing I have club standard in terms of equipment is my headphones.
But of course if I went to a club with the gear I'd just need my cd's n headphones to rock that place.

So I've sent them a pretty professional looking message to their myspace as their website doesnt have any contact info. Just lists their events and dj's.
I'm also going to contact some labels to try and see if any of them want to release the dub buddha track I made.
Lets see how it pans out.

Lol I got everything fixed, I had two blown shocks now I'm dropped on progress/blues
. I've been looking into doing some massive chassis stiffening because this damn thing is comparable to a floppy noodle lol.
Buutttt I do need some new speakers. And you aren't helping my chassis plans! ahahahah

After that 70min mix, I checked the peaks on my spectrum analyzer. Mind you, I did not have it at full volume. My neighbors would not appreciate that.
20hz = -19.5db
22.5hz = -19db
25hz = -17.5db
28hz = -18.4db
31.5hz = -15.8db
35.5 = -13db
40 = -10.6db
45 = -11db
50 = -11db
56 = -11.8db
63 = -11.7db
71 = -12.9db
80 = -17.4db
89 = -18db
100hz = -20.9db
112hz = -24.4db
My crossover is set at 80hz
So, with 40hz being the highest at -10.6db, an octave below it, 20hz is only 8.9db quieter. That's quite loud for most genre's. Dance music typically has little content below 40hz
This is the problem with dubstep, folded horns are the norm in PA systems, or stacks of ported 18" woofers with 8-10mm xmax (linear travel). That content below 35hz requires a whole other kind of subwoofer than what's typically used. The folded horns either need to be increased in length or scrapped for tapped horns. Those vented bass bins need more hardcore subwoofers tuned a bit lower, but that also requires bigger amps, increasing costs and power requirements.
Talking strictly physics, if a woofer could produce Xdb at 40hz, in a sealed enclosure, if you wanted to produce Xdb at 20hz (one octave lower) the speaker cone would need to move 4x farther. So if it only moved 5mm at 40hz, it'd need to move 20mm at 20hz.
This is why we're seeing more capable PA subwoofers being produced...well this isn't the only reason, there are a lot.
Anyhow, this mix was good, but not great. However I have no idea why and have no constructive critcism. I must attribute it to the bad mood I was in while washing my car because i started so late in the evening and felt rushed.

Long live the dub.
And interesting read about the subwoofers. I'll keep frequencies in mind when I buy my sound system.
Gotta rock the lil ravers.

That Youtube link posted of La Roux - In for the kill; awesome.
Some really great songs just off the top of my head,
York - Awakening (MOS mellow mix)
Andain - Beautiful things (tiesto mix)
Motorcycle - As the rush comes
Faithless - God is a DJ
...And the originals of those songs are great too.
You know what they all have in common, including La Roux they're all vocal. Or at least the originals are. York - Awakening (MOS mellow mix) is not vocal.
But I'm just one person and my tastes tend to favor vocal trance and I guess even vocal dubstep? But that's the hard part about being a DJ, each crowd will be different and it's a matter of reading the crowd. If I'm not feeling it, but 250 other people are, better keep it up. If I'm feeling it, but 250 people just left the dance floor

I listened to caspas new mix and I didnt like some of his track selection. I also realized I can mix dubstep to the same caliber as he can.
Woot. My mix rivals the pros. I'm pumped.
