Post Title: Help with ABS... really bad
Posted by: MSL558 at 1:18 PM 6/19/2009

This is my first post for Nico club. I'm so desperate I took my Gc at the dealer cause the VDC,SLIP amd ABS lights are on. By the end of the day my service advisor told me I need new tires at the rear, I looked at it and yeah I definitely I need one. So Yesterday I got a new set of Michelin Pilot sports and the lights are are out but and the ABS is kicking every time I pressed on the brake? but if the ABS,SLIP and VDC OFF lights are on the ABS is not kicking in everytime I stepped on the brakes? INFINITI will charge me $125/hr labor to make a diagnostics on my car, but Im trying to find a solution before spending money again. I spent $450 on my Tire yesterday and Im heaving a headache by just thingking about it . I got no answer from the other forums yet and I'm hoping to get an answer on this forum. Thanks in advance.

CK YOUR BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, IF IT IS LOW THAT IS AN INDICATOR OF HOW WELL YOUR BRAKE PAD CONDITION IS IN.. TOP OFF YOUR BRAKE FLUID AND TAKE IT IN FOR BRAKE SERVICE. IF BRAKE FLUID IS NOT LOW YOU WILL NEED TO GET IT SCANNED - PROBABLY AT THE DEALER JUST TO FIND OUT WHAT TROUBLE CODE YOUR CAR HAS

Thanjks for the reply. Yes my brake fluid is always top off. I went to a local shop and gtold me that my front rotors need replacement also the brake pads.

quetion for you... can the dealer scan for codes even though there are no warning lights on the dash? cause my ABS,SLIP,VDC OFF lights goes away after turning off the engine. Also after driving today I noticed thjat if the ABS,SLIP,VDC OFF warning lights are on the brakes work fine? but if the warning lights are off ABS kicks in every time I stepped on the brakes w a rattling sound?

Here's a sound clip of the nolise. the clicking sound is when i let go of the gas and by the end olf the video you will hear the ABS KICKING IN AFTER I STOP.

Yes, some OBD II codes are stored when CEL is not on.

If it is AWD, different compound tires front and rear can cause problems.

Please include year, and correct model. Is your car really a RHD JDM Skyline 350-GT?

My car is a G 35 coupe 2003 rear wheel drive. I'm lucky enough to have someone answer my question on the other forum site. He was saying that it happened to him too and the dealer change his ABS BEARING/ SENSOR. I just want to make sure that it is the prblem so I can pin point the problem to the dealer and save $125/hr labor

I don't think the Tire size are the issues. I have a wider tires on the front and rear. I'll try to change my rotors and brake pads next week after my vegas trip. Ihave to earn money playing poker to but the new sets of C/D rotors!

Ooooooh, cool!

Don't buy the cheap Chinese ones. I have used the Stillen Brembo (Joe occasionally runs specials) and besides being plated so they don't corrode, they last forever.

Ok. after 2 weeks of researching! The cause of the ABS Actuation and lights lid on the dash is because of oversize 'REAR TIRE"! so stupid of me that i got 255/45/18 on the rear instead of 255/35/18! so today bought the right size and went to stock 245/45/18 and everything went back to normal.
