OK, back to the 96 J30- 61k miles.

1. Re-programming the keyfob- got one coming via Ebay- how difficult to program?

2. Driver's side front regulator motor- how difficult is pulling the door panel and replacing the motor?

Thanks again gang!!!!

Thats what The Nico Nico Family is all about !!!

Ive never worked on anything but Old American Iron before I got the J.
Found this place and learned I can tackle about anything on this thing.
Except maybe the Tranny Internals.

i have a question , before you decided to go toward replacing the motor in the door, did you check the small black box with the prongs sticking out of it? its been known to kill your power window usage when they go bad, or out

FYI the J30 Field Service Manual can be found here.

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/J30/

We have some excellent very knowledgeable members on this board (Yoda amongst them) who are willing to share their experiences and help other J owners.

Still we get some disgruntled folks on this board every once in awhile who threaten members with bodily harm or death and of course they're banned promptly.

Thanks again. You guys have given me (and more importantly the wife- who thinks it's a money pit) more confidence. I had a Nissan Sentra that I sold at 247k miles (dummy!) that still ran like a champ. I know these things take a bit more maintenance, but I think in the long run it'll pay off... I spoke with another dealer (closest one is in Vegas) and he recommends the tb now, being it's over 10 years old. I'll have to save up for that and will do the tstat and water pump at the same time. Serviced at 51k and they replaced all other belts.

You guys are the best and God bless you all!!!

Have yet to get to the door...dealer "We Owe" They supplied the motor and I'll do the work. I believe it to be the motor due to it's slow climb up from the down position.

I don't know if your anywhere near Scottsdale Arizona.

Scottsdale Infinti is one of this boards longtime sponsors.

they have a website:

http://www.infinitipartsusa.co...id=55

where they sell OEM Nissan parts at below dealer prices. The website is worth checking out as is their parts department. Remember to mention your a nicoclub member.

DD- thanks for the heads up. The dealer I mentioned in PHX wasn't them. I'll order the parts from them and hope that Towbin Infiniti in Las Vegas will do the work. I am 4 hours to PHX and 2 to Las Vegas...

Thanks again to you and all the replies I hgot. I traded my tools in 20 years ago for computers, but still enjoy mokeying around. I really didn't know what I got myself into with this car, but damn, my wife looks good in it and it looks sharp. I've always wanted one but could never afford it- child support- 18 months to go - yeah!!!!

Ok, once you again you all have amazed me- wealth of knowledge- yes...

Since it's over 10 years old, I should be okay with JUST the belt for now, right? The tensioner and idler should be okay...

Gracias!

The only way to know for sure is when they are in there.
Both should spin freely with ZERO sound.
I opted not to do mine because they were all silent, and they were also replaced at 60K when the PO had the TBelt job done at the dealership.

Yup, a little tricky to add a second one. I salvaged the one that came with the car by drilling a hole through it. The sequence listed on Carlos' site had me confused....The driver's side window motor was a blast, NOT!
