| Hey whats up guys. Im selling my 07 wrx and im buying a 1996 r33 gtr. It was imported about a month ago to a dealership in florida. The owner of the dealership just got a US title for it and has florida plates for it. I was wondering though would i have a hard time registering it in new jersey, because florida has no emisions or inspections. And also does any one know how hard it would be to get it insured. I dont have much time before someone else buys the car, so if you guys can get back to me as soon as possible that would be great |
Getting the title is another matter. It took me 4 visits to the DMV to get my NJ tittle (they print it and give it to you on the spot now). Just have all your paperwork filled out, get a VIN etching, take pictures of the VIN plate(and print them out), and that's all you should need. Depending on who you get, the rules will vary. You can call up the DMV in Trenton and they won't even know the correct process for registering a Skyline.
Do not rush it by buying something from out of state and finding out the paperwork is not straight. As long as you have the title, you should be fine but check to make sure all the numbers match up between the car and the title. It would be beneficial to get a sales receipt as well.

| Insurance is insurance. You should be able to get insurance for your cars. The only catch is the VIN will be 12 digits instead of the usual 17 digits. Your insurance company may or may not have your vehicle their database but they should be able to manually put it in. Getting the title is another matter. | You will run into a problem with inspection. NJ used ODB II for all 96+ cars and you will not be able to bypass this as the car was not a NHTSA approved car. John |
Thanks,

By this little tag. This is one for a TVR. It shows the vehicle conforms to all safety standards. Plus is the officer looks at the vin he'll know that US vins have 17 digits and aren't blue. Its the risk you take to own something different I guess.
