Post Title: z2.4i swap for ka2.4e 87 HB
Posted by: mitch89 at 9:04 AM 4/4/2009

hello i used the search app and couldnt find any information concerning my question. i have an 87 nissan HB, with a z2.4i, i also have a 89 240sx with a busted rear sub frame, and rear frame rails, but the engine is still good, i wanted to know how would the wiring harness work for me, do i need the one out of the 240sx, or can i fanagle the one in the 87? i know the engine will bolt up to the transmission on the HB.

thanks
mitchell.

don't cut your wiring harness at all!! lol Your 240 engine has a wiring harness that runs pretty much from the ECU to the engine stuff and nothing else in between... Your hardbody probably has a much more complicated wiring structure. I suggest just unplugging the old ecu, and then running the 240 engine harness and splicing over the necessary wires to the OLD ecu harness to get the proper signals.. This would make it ALOT easier to identify wires when searching for each individual wire.

I am swapping a different motor into my 1993 hardbody and made the mistake of trying to cut out the OLD oem ecu harness and jacked my wiring allll up. That is probably why I don't have any lights on my tail end working now..

well my truck is the carb year i am in a little bit of a snag as to how i would get my fuel injected ka24e into my HB... do i have to change over the dash in it to? do you know if anything else on the truck other then the engine runs off the vacuum lines?

i think some thing in your heating unit may run off vacuum but i'm not sure...

if you plan on using your 240 engine you may still need to swap the oil pan for one from a truck ka because of suspension clearance issues...

aw yes that would be a problem now wouldn't it. the truck i am buying right now has a miss, at about 3 grand or so. now i ordered a distributor cap and rotor, are the trucks common for these things to go? i just don't want to buy it and find out that i need a new distributor or module. i am buying it for 1800$, do you think i am getting ripped off? o yea there is a broken leaf, but i get a parts truck with a good leaf.

mitch. i did that swap
first thing you will need is:
ka24e truck mount brackets, oil pan, oil pickup, flywhell and pressure plate
set both engines to tdc before removal
use your napz fan and clutch and engine shroud and drop the engine in.
you may need to ut a crank alignment pin on the crank to fit the ka24 truck flywheel otherwise redrill the 240 flywheel to accept a truck bellhousing.
before you install the oilpan u will need to trim the lower engine girdle but do so with rags in the engine openings to stop shavings.. use anmd andle grinder.. and inch should do
the dipstick will need to be drilled into the other unused dipstic location.. compare motors and see

these mods will allow the drop in.
the engine will sit close to the heater core hoses on the pass side and you will have to plug a sensor at the rear of the intake manifold

if you have smog in your area, you will have to shorten the egr to ex manifold tube before installation.

have fun!

if u need more tips, hit me up!

i wanna sell a manual to recover a few swap costs
