Post Title: JL Audio and Alpine Amplifiers --- A Bunch To Choose From!!! Posted by:Broadfield at 8:26 PM 3/20/2009 Posting up the current JL Audio and Alpine amplifiers for sale. I am going to list the different lines in order of overall performance. The last line having the best tonal sound quality. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, taking into consideration price, quality, performance, size, features etc. So please ask me if you have any questions and I'll be sure to recommend the one that best suits your needs within your budget. As always, I have everything you need for wiring, sound deadening etc. Keep in mind I do not every amplifier listed here.... just the popular models. So please take into consideration it may take up to a week to get it in stock. Just ask because my stock changes daily.
Product Update: Alpine's new add-on amplifier is now shipping. The KTP-445 is a 45-watt x 4 RMS amplifier. It simply plugs inline into the back of your Alpine. So no wiring, no hassle etc. It is small enough to fit behind the radio of most vehicles. It works with any 'black" plug Alpine head units.
KTP-445 Retail $140 Nico Price: $119 shipped! or $99 when packaged with any head unit! In Stock
First up are the Alpine MRP series. These are very budget friendly with decent output. They are the cheapest amplifier line I carry, but it's still an Alpine, so you are still getting good sound and quality. Rated RMS power is achieved @ 14.4 volts.
Now you will be getting into a pretty good amplifier. The Alpine PDX will have great sound quality, are VERY efficient and the chassis is VERY small and stack-able. Rated RMS power is achieved at 2 or 4 ohm @ 14.4 volts.
Even better sound quality and boasting a fully regulated intelligent power supply are the JL Audio Slash v2 series. All Slash series also have comprehensive signal processing selections. Rated RMS power is achieved anywhere between 1.5 to 4 ohm @ 11.5 - 14.5 volts.
Sporting the best sound quality and in a VERY small chassis at that, is the JL Audio HD series. This line is very new and has slightly less processing selections than the Slash series. Still has the same fully regulated intelligent power supply and are stack-able like the Alpine PDX. Rated RMS power is achieved anywhere between 1.5 to 4 ohm @ 11.5 - 14.5 volts.
If you need something even better, then contact me about some high-end Zapco's. BEWARE! retail gets up into the $1500 - $9000 range.

Yeah, let me know what you think of the whole setup!?!
Also, the KTP-445 has a high/low switch on the bottom of it. You will leave it on high unless you are running a subwoofer setup.

THanks Alot TOBY! I just got done installing everything and it does sound alot better. Its alot louder in the mid and high region but the low not so much. Is their anyway other than getting subwoofers to enhance the low end?
Post Title: Re: JL Audio and Alpine Amplifiers --- A Bunch To Choose From!!! (MastaYu) Posted by:Broadfield at 12:31 PM 9/5/2009 Yeah, you can only reproduce low notes with a big cone. You would need 8" subs at the very least, a sealed enclosure for them and an amplifier to driver them. Hybrid Audio 6.5" component drivers produce the best mid-bass I have ever heard, but they still don't reproduce sub-bass.
Post Title: Re: JL Audio and Alpine Amplifiers --- A Bunch To Choose From!!! (Broadfield) Posted by:MastaYu at 3:10 PM 9/5/2009 o ok. i would definately like the full spectrum of sound but the main thing that is holding me back with the low end would be space and I dont want so much power that the car rattles.
Post Title: Re: JL Audio and Alpine Amplifiers --- A Bunch To Choose From!!! (MastaYu) Posted by:Broadfield at 6:15 PM 9/5/2009 Space and rattles are easy to overcome. Do a single JL 13W5 flat sub fiberglassed in the spare tire well. This will take up zero space and be completely hidden with the OEM rear carpet mat in place. This will give you GREAT bass, but not so much that you are heard from blocks away.... which also translates into not a lot of rattles. If you have any rattles, most of it will be concentrated in one or two spots..... so some simple sound deadening and you are good to go.
This is an example of a spare tire well 13W5 I did in a Z06. Then the factory cover goes over it.... or in your case your carpet. In your case I would simply incorporate some steel grill material over the sub. That way you would still have full use of your hatch.

Post Title: Posted by:MastaYu at 8:48 PM 9/8/2009 Hey Toby i got a quick question. Since i have the ktp-445 am i suppose to turn off the power ic on the head unit?
Thanks
Post Title: Re: (MastaYu) Posted by:Broadfield at 10:11 PM 9/8/2009
Nope, you have to leave it on. That would only be used if you were only using RCA level out as your signal out.
Post Title: Re: (Broadfield) Posted by:MastaYu at 4:45 PM 9/9/2009 Thanks Toby!

Post Title: Re: (Broadfield) Posted by:BoBa524 at 3:42 PM 9/15/2009 Hey broadfield... i sold my S14 and got an 06 Passat 3.6L 4motion. I need to transfer over my Pioneer AVIC-D3 Navi into this thing. I need the best install kit, and everything needed to make it work, also a GPS antenna for the D3 cuz i left it in the 240. The passat is the highest trim w/o navi. If you could shoot me a price shipped to 02472 that would be awesome. vrusski@yahoo.com

Post Title: Re: (BoBa524) Posted by:Broadfield at 10:41 AM 9/16/2009 You will need to take pictures of the OEM wiring harness. There are three different harness possibilities. Also, one of those possibilities is a $100 interface module that you may need depending on what OEM system is in there. You will also need an antenna adapter and a dash kit. I don't even stock most of these items. In my 16 years of business, I have only done maybe one radio install in a Passat. I am not a Pioneer dealer, so you would have to source that GPS antenna somewhere else.
Post Title: Re: (Broadfield) Posted by:BoBa524 at 3:22 PM 9/16/2009 Let me know what i need...how much...and your paypal address
Post Title: Re: (BoBa524) Posted by:Broadfield at 1:37 PM 9/18/2009
You will need the standard harness, kit and antenna adapter. I'm pretty sure that you don't need the data interface, but you won't know until you try it. For the three things I just listed you are looking at $39 shipped. My Paypal is in my sig.

got it today...the install kit looks awesome. Just one question what do i do with the two CANbus wires so that i don't mess up the communication between other modules?
Post Title: Re: (BoBa524) Posted by:VRoy at 7:38 PM 9/25/2009 Broadfield everything is priced great man. I have a question i think will fit here. My girlfriend recently bought a 2003 accord and is looking to do the JL clean sweep to go along with her 10" 10w7 setup from her last accord. Can you get a price on the clean sweep for her model? I'm not a audiohead by any measure, so any input would be great too. Hopefully getting the holidays knocked out early

Well, in order to run the Cleansweep, you have to run an aftermarket amplifier to all of the speakers in the car. Are you simply wanting to just hook up the sub?
Post Title: Re: (Broadfield) Posted by:VRoy at 9:02 PM 9/29/2009
I believe she wants to get it as close to what she had before as possible. As far as I know she had a higher end Alpine head unit and door speakers. With a amp only running to the sub. From what I can gather she wants the same/comparable sound quality as she had before, while retaining the stock head unit and climate controls. So far this is all i have been able to find with out going with a crazy touch screen or something. If a small amp for the door speakers was needed also i dont see that being to much of a problem. Thanks for the help. I have not really been able to wrap my head around this Clean Sweep setup from what JL has on the website.
Post Title: Re: (VRoy) Posted by:Broadfield at 4:55 PM 9/30/2009 Well, the CleanSweep is used to take the signal from an OEM radio and make it into a flat signal. A lot of radios these days output a pre-equalized signal. Which will only cause havoc when you are trying to install aftermarket amplifiers and/or speakers. So the CleanSweep really isn't needed if the OEM radio has a non-equalized output. So in order to use a CleanSweep, you have to use aftermarket amplifiers on ALL of your speakers in the vehicle. Here is a tad bit of info on the unit and some examples of what it does in a couple different vehicles.

not a problem i was just making sure you didnt change email and forgot to update your profile. I did realize that my audi has 6 interior speakers so i think a 5 channell amp is out of the question now. I have a mrdm605( i think that is the model) to run my type r so i dont really need an amp to run the subs i just thought it would be cleaner to only have one amp instead of two.
