Let me start of by saying it was running fine the night before. I woked up the next morning to go to work and my car made a clonki noise like it was stuck. I tried to start it two more times it did the same thing. Finally on the fourth try it started but it was shaking. I turned it of a took my benz to work. When I got off from work it did not start at all, it just make a clonking noise. I had my dad change the starter and it does the same thing. Can someone help me figure this out. One person told me that the engine was locked up and one person told me it was a electrical problem. I need some help from the experts before I go throwing money into the car.

three areas1) fuel - fuel pressure? leaky injector o-rings (this will cause hydrolock)?2) air - MAF sognal? TPS signal?3) ignition - coil resistance? good spark plug? cam angle sensor signal?

Most likely you have leaky injector o-rings which causes hydro lock.

Check your ECU and see if its throwing a code. If it is, you can dramaticaly narrow down the source of the problem.

Have you looked under the hood in the area of the fan, the accessory belts and the things that they drive? And how about cleaning the battery terminals and the cable connections, though I wouldn't keep cranking the engine until I had a better idea of why things are making noises.

When was the timing belt last replaced?

You might want to disconnect the battery, remove all six spark plugs and rotate the engine manually by turning the crank bolt, listening for noises. It should turn pretty freely and don't force things if you encounter a lot of resistance.

Maybe mark and pull the camshaft position sensor and watch the end that drives it to see if the camshafts are turning.

Fuel will seep down past the rings to the crankcase overnight, These things I know
