Post Title: Talk to me about the Rogue/Murano/Mitsu outlander...
Posted by: joe603 at 7:35 AM 8/21/2008

I dropped off my G at the dealer yesterday for some warranty work, and we stopped at the Nissan dealer to look at the Murano. ...So we're looking at the front of the row with Murano's and they turned into a row of Rogue's...(thought it was a different year of Murano )

Anyway...I hadn't considered a Rogue but after seeing/driving one, it's hard to justify paying more for the Murano for a tiny bit more space compared to the Rogue. How are these things? We don't need all the nit-noid upgrades in trim that the Murano has (it's a vehicle for the wify)

Next we stopped at the Mitsu dealer to look at the outlander. They had a killer deal on a few 07's. Any dirt on these things? I can save about 6k if I do the Mitsu (partly because of owner loyalty). She really liked the outlander...the rear cargo area is much larger than the Nissan's and it has a fold down tailgate thing that she loved. It was also a V6...almost like getting a Murano for a Rogue price...

Help guys!! any info is greatly appreciated !!!!!

Did you just say you are interested in a Mitsu? Oh no you didn't!!!! I don't know much about the Outlander, but I love the look of the Rogue and the Murano much better, and the Murano especially has some sweet features. The Rogue's 2.5 with the CVT feels just as powerful as the Mitsu's V6, but with better MPG. I would say drive them all, and see what you like the best!

For me...I like the Murano. The wife likes the Outlander. The bank account likes the outlander too...I could get a brand new 07 for under 16k!! With a trade, that brings the loan down to 11k. That will be harder with the Rogue because they are too new, and the Murano is just more expensive....though I may be able to get an 07 cheap....

Wow, I can't believe they still have '07 models left on the lot, I know the '09 models are out now.

Hey there fellow "Georgian."

I have to agree with Timmbo, it's a bit shocking to know that some of the '07's are still on the lot and I don't think the Mitsu's skipped their '08MY like the MO's did. Some dealers are better than other's but hopefully those 07's were maintained on the lot rather than just sitting around (i.e. battery, gas cycling). The 07's are already due for an oil change for example. The fact that they still have 07's only shows how slow they are moving but I for one cannot really say they are bad vehicles since I've never driven one and don't know any friends that have one.

I won't give my opinion on which one you should get since I'm obviously biased. I will say with the Murano though you are paying for a V6, a very nice interior (w/ leather) and a list of options that can quickly approach Infiniti.

Well spoken!
Yes, there was an '08 Outlander, so you can buy an '07, an '08, or an '09. Crazy!

Can't do leather. We have dogs and a car seat...I just don't want to deal with the hassle.

Honestly, that is one of the reasons I love leather! It stays clean, I also have a dog, and a child seat, my son is almost two, you don't have to worry about food getting mashed into the seats. Every now and then my black leather computer case (man purse) will leave black scuffs on my tan leather seats, but I simply remove those with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and then use a leather wipe to re-moisten the leather. I have had terrible luck with cloth seats, and much better luck with leather.

Interesting...does the car seat leave marks or indents??

Only for a short time, after someone sits there, it goes back to normal. I would totally recommend leather, I didn't think I would like it at first, but every vehicle I have purchased since my '99 Altima had leather in it. I think it looks newer and cleaner than the cloth. You don't have to worry about any spills because they never set into the material, you wipe it off and you are done.
