We made a big mistake buying the Versa within the first couple of model years on the U.S. market. We won't be making that mistake again.

Totally await for this. I shall keep my Silvia and sell my Sentra to get that Cube instead.

I'm waiting for the specs to drop. A lot of talk about the Versa 1.8 engine going to the Cube instead of the 1.4. Works for me.

THE CUBE IS LIFE

I shall have one, unless it truly sucketh, in which case I'll get a new Fit.

Why is that? I have a '08 with zero issues. Not saying it because I'm biased and that I do ad work for Nissan. I was neutral towards Nissans before, and after sampling some of the products and now owning one, I'm now 100% sold. There are three things that matter in the auto industry: content, style and quality. They've got all three.

Specs are out. Released on the 19th, the first press day of the LA Auto Show.

3 trims available: standard, S and SL. All 3 will have the 1.8L from the Versa, which has been getting about 27/33 mpg by folks on the Versa board. Not sure what the cube will be as ratings have not been released but the press release says 30+. 6MT or CVT will be available. An optional sonar back-up assist system (like the ones you see on luxury cars) will be available.

Check out the mini-site: http://www.nissanusa.com/cube

I just saw the cube at the LA autoshow last weekend and I thought it looked better in pictures than it did in person.

Im a newbie here....looking into the Cube and some info for my old Maxima brought me to this board....
I'm seriously considering getting a Cube, but I do also believe in the hesitation to buy first-model-year vehicles. In my experience with cars and newly produced models of equipment (or nearly any porduct for that matter), there is allways at least some minor faults that get through the production system that doesn't become evident until the product is put into service....or into a new service environment, for that matter.....if you have access to it, just search any automotive line service bulletins and you'd see what I mean. Problems came up shortly after the model was released and then changes where made to eliminate it in later years....My delema here is that I like the car enough and trust Nissan's overall quality that I am nearly set on taking that risk with the hope that warranty will take care of any of those issues that arise.
My other thought is that Im not impressed by the MPG I've seen for the cube....but I also have allways experienced better MPG from my Nissans (on my 5th now) than what they advertise.

Nope, not my type of vehicle. Though some of my guy friends are seriously considering otherwise.

The design may be far fetched, but it takes time to grow on you. I like the utilitarian design and how it's roomy inside. The stadium seating in the back is awesome, wish the Versa had that.

The climate control instrument panel is fitter than the V's. It has a temperature display and you can adjust it with the readout. Also, it has an auto fan feature which keeps it a constant temperature so you don't have to adjust it to the right temp.

However, I already have a Versa and appreciate what I got for now. May glance into it physically once it's released next spring.

In fact, the Xb came after the Cube...so it's more like Toyota copied on Nissan.

I am REALLY thinking about getting one soon after they come out. I'd like to get a new car sometime before 2010, and I think the CUBE is for me.

I'll have a S13 to sell / part out and a J30 to sell.

Let's GO

I've seen 2 Nissan Cube today at Miami (1 silver and 1 brown). Look good.

Hmm wonder what the insurance rates are like for the Cube.

I really like the styling of the new Cube. I'm not really worried about the first year issues as the car was restyled but has already existed in the Japanese market for almost 10 years.

Post Title: Re: Cube or Not to Cube (Dalma)

Dalma is right, but for the wrong reasons. The new Cube is a new Cube, so the previous generations in Japan aren't going to do much, if anything to improve the reliability of the present generation. However, the new Cube is basically a different body on a Versa chassis, so most of the bugs were worked out on the Versa.

I wonder about driving with those tiny wheels in a snowstorm and availability of winter/all weather tires... me thinks those tiny wheels and those tight wheel wells will get bunged up with snow & ice. It's not like the e-AWD (?) option is available in NA.

I also wonder about that side-hinged rear 'fridge' door and how easy it is to use parked backed-in to a wall vs hatch/trunk lid.

I'd seriously consider if they made a SpecV one with a big a** VQ in it with LSD and AWD lol

Will it be as good as some others? No. But unless you're living on a ranch outside of Edmonton or some farm in northern North Dakota it won't matter too much at all in the grand scheme of things.

True, most manufactures couldn't get away with the sparse, mindless interiors that Toyota does and somehow not get Yugo comparisons.
