Post Title: What are you building?
Posted by: craigztoyz at 5:07 PM 5/9/2008

just curious how many guys are building what? I just realized that there is a third guy within a few hundred miles with a Z32 going VH45. I think there is even one running in Austin, but not sure.

PICS PLEASE I have noticed a few vehicles I'd love to see more about(32)
Thanx again for the great responses, glad to know how many of us realize the potential of this engine. I'd like to make a TX VH Group too.

I am converting a 90 N/a 2+2 To VH45, n/a for now, less then a week to go.

Pics are appreciated, be cool to have refrences, and ideas. Tried to enter other vehicles, wouldn't let me.

Thanx for the responses. I know we have a patrol in here, and at least one sandrail/dunebuggy from El Paso TX. I thought there was a lot of Z32 action, glad to see the participation.

What's an S30? Oh, one of those...

Oh Yeah, my bad....

a 74 would be SWEET. But I still think my dada, 81 Datsun 510(yes it says datsun all over it) with this driveline would be Awsome!!!!
An S30 would be a rocket, if you could get the rear to hold, and apply the torque. N NO Emissions test

That is the right engine for your 73

How did you manage to get it to stick to the wall like that?
(Your picture needs to be rotated or you need to pay for everyones visit to the chiropractor )

Looks like a mini-nova! lol

I was at a trackday yesterday (we hired our A1 circuit at Taupo, pic can be seen here), and Hadees showed up in a Torana similar to Bart's.

Toranas are nice as, and Hadees' Torana is in show condition, pimped out interior and NOS and all _b So go Bart, great choice for a conversion!

Thanks guys, it does look a little like a mini Nova, its a GM design and built in the early 70's by Holden in Australia (GMH) so i guess we got a lot of influence from the US GM.
Mettler the Torana you posted is the slightly larger later model but yeas love the shape also.
Theres heaps more fabrication work i can show but i dont have time yet, i will do later.

Update!

I had some oil starvation issues at full throttle, Building a new pan, and pulled the accu, as I think it is not working right. So driving it softly, today, pulled radiator, tring to get my griffen to fit, had to get another one, with necks @ differnet spot. Clutch bleeder broke in the housing by headlight.

But it runs, drives, and scares a lot of people by the sound of the intake sucking more air then Chong at a party.
A view from above

She's not the prettiest Z in Austin, But pretty sure that she will leave them way in the dust. New paint will help.

N a keen eye might notice that the City resurfaced my street this morning,
Over all my burnout streaks from the RX7. So I have a fresh pallet to 'paint' on with the tires.

N here is another view

looks stout.

Cant wait to see more,

The torque, thats not hard to get, when tuned well, and with a lil computer help, more is there.

Post Title: Re: (craigztoyz)
Posted by: midnightsliding at 6:49 PM 7/31/2008

yeah i have low standards but i will always take more if its their lol.

Post Title: Re: What are you building? (craigztoyz)
Posted by: craigztoyz at 7:28 PM 7/31/2008

The important part is how much torque there is so low in the power band. From what I understand its like 200 @ idle, which would surprise me from driving it, but I will wait for my Dyno sheet to tell the tale.

Post Title: Re: What are you building? (craigztoyz)
Posted by: midnightsliding at 7:46 PM 7/31/2008

yea im looking for more mid to top end Tq. i would like to design some headers to make more power up around 7400 rpm.

Here's a link to my "project" thread:

I already have a Vh with a tweaked rod and a running Q45 with a 10,000 mile engine in it. The tweaked rod motor with be Built (not REbuilt). Suspension and body all being brought up to snuff this winter.

sweet start.

I too am having to build my first VH, but it is just getting bearings, and rings, as the engine is still running great. Its on its way into a customers 02 Z.

This motor is amazing, 6 months after I started driving it daily, still beats c5 vetts, and is a joy to drive. Working on a few other VH projects, but busy making a Fullsize Blazer into a FWD truck with a few inches ride height.

Anyone need good info on the Vh, get in touch with me. Craig

I'm also building an s30 vh45de, it kills me being 300 miles away from my project at school most of the year. Anyways... what I have so far.

and almost ready to pull out...

With any luck, i'll have a running vh45de swap in my z31. Seen a few z32's and s30's with vh's in them already, but no z31's! My car was neglected very badly by the previous owner from what I can tell. The first oil change I did to the car, I drained absolute sludge out of the oil pan, and have had low oil pressure across the board. Along with that, the engine has had one of the infamous z31 injector fires at some point in its life. So my idea of a turbo swap onto that motor are fading rather quickly. Luckily the rest of the car is in decent shape, and should be a good shell for a VH to go into. With any luck, i'll find a good running motor.

^ Sounds like a good project! Do you still have the S14?

Post Title:
Posted by: Bronze MFP at 9:18 AM 4/8/2009

no, the s14 was sold a few years ago
I'd like to pick up another one eventually, but the z needs more powah!
