i understand that drifting on a sactioned event is the way to go ive also been in events but it is just very different how we run events than other states do. i know that street drifting is dangerous and there can be concicuences but you can achieve more skill than drifting in events which are pricey and limited. May i ask why drifters in japan street slide? plus i don't see how drifting in events will make me "grow up".

LOL

1) you will NEVER learn as much street drifting as you will doing real events

2) the events wont make you grow up, you need to grow up and have some respect.

Monkey see monkey do?

Just because they street drift in Japan doesn't mean its okay to do it here. Yah, sure we drool over Option Vids and such, but that still doesn't justify why it should be done here.

and Joe is right... you'll never learn on the streets like you would on a real track event.

I believe every venue at Balcony requires instructors...

regardless if thats not true, they do have instructors. Rules and Regs at the WSIR as getting beefed up and more strict.

Heres the message I heard thats been posted everywhere.

Quote »

This went to ALL DRIFT EVENT HOLDERS
It seems people dont follow all the rules which makes it harder for others to have fun...

Just a reminder that if you Purchase your insurance for your event through Willow Springs Raceway there are to be absolutely no passengers unless you have an instructor in the car. If that is the case then you can have the instructor and one (1) passenger in the car at a time. We have been seeing up to 4 passengers in the car at one time with cameras hanging out of the car. This is unacceptable. If you were to have this many passengers in the car and something were to have gone wrong the insurance company would not cover you due to not following their policies. If you would like to have events where passengers are allowed you can purchase your own insurance through a different insurance group.

Affective immediately WSIR will be monitoring all drifting events. If we are to see that you have passengers in the cars we will stop your event immediately and escort the group off of the balcony circuit with NO refunds.

We have also noticed that after events there is fence knocked down and WSIR was never notified. Over the past year we at Willow Springs have tried to make rules a little lenient for the drift groups after they have shown that they are responsible and professional enough to put on at least two events at the Balcony Circuit. If these incidents do not stop we have no other choice then to make a mandatory rule that Fire Rescue is to be at each and every Drifting track day at any and all of our tracks. This rule will apply to EVERY drifting organization that comes to Willow Springs Raceway.

If you are not aware of WSIR Policies and procedures please feel free to contact us in the main office and we will be more than happy to discuss them with you.

If you have any questions or concerns you may contact Jim Hutchings or Myself at 661-256-2471.

well, a lot of those guys actually show up to the 626drift events as well. A lot of guys from the ZT forums too. Michael Essa and Tech Trix' rx7 fc is always there at their events. Last event I went too, they had that red and yellow Formula D Miata doing some runs as well.

More venues = more track time. I'd suggest attending as much as you can to get more seat time. Plus you really get to meet a lot of cool instructors and experienced people and get different tips as well.

Another event I can suggest is the Touke events. I tried looking for a website, but I couldn't find one. http://jic-magic.blogspot.com/....html They do grip as well, but a lot of their events include drifting.

yea i know all about it. theres a multi page debate on ZT about it, and why all of a sudden it happened. certain organizations are far too unprofessional and are run basically by teenagers with no experience...

charlie at Justdrift is the reason drifting exists at WSIR in the first place.

Post Title:
Posted by: adrians_s13 at 2:50 PM 1/25/2009

let me also mention, 626drift has an event AT LEAST one weekend a month. Some twice...

yeah... its pretty bad.

a lot of times, once the event is over, theres really no one watching or supervising whats going on. Event holders need to actually stay and clean up after themselves instead of just leave once 5pm hits.

Ashpalt roads in the country, 90 degree turns around, intersections of farm land. Just don't go in the ditch and have an angry farmer have to pull you out...

you are both right as a street drifter myself there are things you learn in the street that you cant learn at the track 1 consistency on the street you have all the time in the world if your on a budget on the track that time will cost you 2: there is just a different type of fearlessness you get on the street than at the safety of a track you dont want to wreck your car on the street cause then you have to explain to cops what you did insurance and get home because it's probably a daily driver therese a ton more
but on the track you don't have to worry about those thing and can just focus on drifting and it's safe to push your car to it's limits you cant do that on the streets cause you'll die so both you guys are right stop arguing and just get the drifting fighting is something everyone needs to grow up from my motto get over it you'll live

ok buddy that's your story go and talk to d1gp drivers and ask them where they started hmm .. on the streets im not a pro yet but i lerned what i did drifting in japan on my military base then when i came back here i currently practice in an empty lot in ny and on certain street corners and when i finally whent to my first track event i was killing it . so you did it your way im not knocking that good for you but not everyone is as fortunate as you are so keep ya dam insults to yourself ya dam hypocrite maybe you need to grow up

Post Title: Re: WHERE TO DRIFT? (psycodrifter)

i will not allow the promotion of street drifting on my message board so you need to check yourself and realize where you are. i organize events to try and give kids a place to do it where its safe and legal.

yes, many people started with street drifting. yes many people still do it. but there is no reason to because as driftings popularity has grown there are events nearly all over the country, all the time.

p.s. you need to look up the definition of hypocrite. i would be a hypocrite if i said ive never street drifted, then went out and did it.

there is 1 event that happens near me once a year and requires driving 3 hours.
i dont do it on the street, but when an auto cross event happens.i sure do piss some people off. i also do find that warehouse districts at 3 in the morning are very inviting, but im not condoning it.

ive always wondered if enough people and safety cones showing up in one area at one time could be considered an "event"
