Post Title: Tmobile internet! Cell phone users take a look
Posted by: PoorManQ45 at 7:46 AM 1/17/2008

This is for anyone that has tmobile and has wanted to use the internet, but doesn't want to fork over $20 to get the "unlimited plan".

First, add the $5.99 Tmobile web to your service plan(may take up to 24hours to apply). Then:(note, these instructions are directly for the Tmobile Dash, but the settings are the same on all phones for the hack to work):

In Settings/Connections/GPRS/T-Mobile Data: Tmobile Data
Connects to: Wap Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

AND add another GPRS option:

T-Mobile Data2
Connects to: Work
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com

Then create TWO Proxies:
Settings/Connections/Proxy

First Proxy:
Name:Tzones Proxy
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

Second Proxy:
Name Tzones Proxy2
Connects from: Work
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP

In connections, click menu, then advance and set ALL connections to AUTOMATIC

To get the Exchange Server working:
(Exchange Server settings)
Options/Advanced
Connection: Internet

To get Pop mail accounts working:
(This will need to be done for each account you have)

Options/Account settings/Advanced Server Settings
Network Connection: Work
NOTE! The option to select which way to connect isnt available until you finish creating the POP account (go back in and change to: Work)

To get IE working:
(In IE)Menu/Tools/Options/Connections
Check "Automatically Detect Settings"
Select Network: WAP Network

I've done this on my dash and its working great. I'm not restricted to tmobiles stupid internal website.

I'm currently testing to see if I can send text messages over the GPRS at no cost. If so this will allow me to eliminate my additional text message plan. This will offset the $5.99 for the internet.

Tmobile once locked this workaround down, but within a week they received so many complaints that they decided to open it back up. $5.99 extra is better then losing customers, right?

Let me know if you need any assistance and i'll do my best to help you out.

Wow! Thank you soooooo much.
I just switched to Tmobile web from the over-priced data plan the other day, and hadn't been able to figure this out.

what model phone do you have? As far as I know you have to atleast have a built browser. QWERTY keyboard preferred.
Update: Opera Mini stopped working. When I get home Ill try to figure it out. Its something to do with it being a java app, I know that much

I have a Blackberry curve with T-Mobile. I have to use the Blackberry service I believe. Nice find though.

I found over the course of 2 years, I had 2 valid uses for internet on my phone. And even then, a simply phone call would have been able to accomplish the the same thing. So for me, I can't justify the cost of the internet on the phone.

On the curve can you access, and modify/add, the GPRS and Proxy settings? If so then this workaround should work for you.
You have to use you computer, I did too, to add the Tmobile web service. You cant add it from the phone as this connection wasnt designed for high bandwidth PDA/SmartphoneS.

When I had t mobile I used to try to use the net but I barley ever had phone service. Their pricing is superior but since I switched to Verizon I've been much happer.

What youre getting are known as phantom alarms. This is a slight glitch with the ROM version that you have. An updated ROM was released last month. It fixes the issue. Remember to sync up and save everything
