Post Title: LT1 Test fit pics are up

You have been warned they are large 1mb or so each.
Please excuse the dirty intake manifold, previous owner wasnt too friendly to the engine and i havent gotten around to taking it off for gasket replacement yet, timing and rear main seal have been replaced to avoid any bottom end leaks..

So what conclusion did you come to about a pan? what does your tranny mount look like? when the shifter is hooked up does it go through the gears or did you modify the tunnel. good luck with the project lookin good so far though

I havent started with any of the fab yet, honestly im still at the point where i havent modified anything permanent and may still put an SR20 back in the car.

From the measurements i took tonight i think i could fab up a rear sump pan and pickup tube that would work, but nothing off the shelf will work that i know of.

Test fit to see how the radiator and water pump would get along, there isnt enough space to run a meziere LT1 electric water pump and a Koyo radiator, only about 7/16 between the two, going back to a stock type LT1 pump would gain plenty of clearance there.

Yep, custom headers ftw. I always wanted to take a crack at building a nice set of headers. Best of luck fabbing the sump and whatnot. Might as well make her hold a few extra quarts of oil.

I said F it, i'd rather wait and put a LS1 in it so i'd have a factory oil pan, i've been wanting to find another thirdgen f body to put the LT1/T56 in anyway. I put another SR in the car so i can drive it till i find a motorset to LS1 it.

I think summit sells an electric water pump kit that reuses your OEM housing.......

be a good option

The meziere one I have and the one summit sells are pretty well the same thing, you have to remove the impeller and drive from the inside, then plug the hole in the rear of the housing, the electric motor then bolts where the front cover goes and the motor is added length on the front of the housing, about 3.5" or so, which is why i said a stock pump would get back enough room to run fans.

Grab an Iroc man. I've loved the IrocZ Since I was 14 years old and my neighbor got one.

Win win

Take my words of wisdom when it comes to lt1's .... ditch the optispark, get a delteq setup or something similar.

It will be a 92 6 cyl RS, the only iroc that would be ideal for the swap would be a 90 and there are far too few of them for me to want to slice up doing an LT1/T56 swap to.

As for mistaken, well you are very well mistaken, hearing about optispark bs is quite annoying, bunch of people want to complain about an optical distributor going bad after they pressure wash it numerous times after putting 100k + on it without so much as changing the cap and rotor, most opti failures are due to abuse.

However yes the delteq is nice, I have one for this engine but currently it's on a friends engine in her 91 RS
