Post Title:

fvck this sh1t guys. that car is my most prized possession.

The best of it is that you don't drive an everyday car. Have EVERYONE keep an eye on local boards, Craigslist, and even eBay. Don't just look for the car, look for the parts you've had on it. Whoever stole it isn't likely to sell it as a complete. I'll even check around eBay and CL for you man.

Post Title:

I need someone to be at the UFO Datsun swap meet on Saturday. I cant make it because I'll be at Formula D working.

If anyone see's some Tenzo R seats with a rip, or dual 44 Mikuni's or ANYTHING let me know.

I want someone's nutsack hanging over my fireplace for Christmas.

Don't know the story either, but could it be he knows the person who stole it? Or some friend of a friend? I'd start stalking all of them.

Hope you get your Dime back in one piece!

Take a torch and start with the toes.

Post Title:

bump for today. I have a suspicion that the guy I left it with has hidden it a long time ago, and reported it stolen to me last night. For all I know, its could be in NorCal being chopped to bits.

Post Title: Re: (S13Teddy)
Posted by: szhosain at 8:39 AM 10/12/2007

How long ago did he hide it?

Better question: when did you leave it with him?

If it has been too long, then you are probably right in that about it being pretty much impossible to recover.

Sorry about that!

Good luck finding your car man, every time I see a thread like this, I get the urge to install another kill switch or some other form of anti theft device, no mercy for car thieves. If you ever catch the pile of garbage that took it, hang him from the ceiling by his testicles.

I dont work booths, Im a camera man for the jumbo tron.

Anyway, the sad reality is I'll never see it again. Ever. That car has been long gone. I left the car with this guy September 29.

I'll be driving my 240 now. Oh well, AT LEAST it has an SR in it, so...

I still gotta check w/ insurance to see if I can get money. I also plan to sue the guy who i left it with.

Thats horrible man, sorry to hear about the theft, speaking from experience, I know that it absolutly burns your insides to know that somebody has your stuff. I hope you find the scumbags.

Post Title:

I hope you get some compensation for your loss. It would kill me if I lost such a car.

Post Title:

Sorry to hear buddy. I loved your car. Keep your fingers crossed though, you never know.

Post Title:
Posted by: Dattebayo at 9:16 PM 10/12/2007

I hope you had comprehensive insurance, or specialty insurance for collectors cars. Other wise I doubt it if you see any money.

I do not envy the search you have for finding a rust-free dime chassis...

Post Title: Re: (Dattebayo)
Posted by: Solar_Runner at 9:23 PM 10/12/2007

Damn Teddy, I don't really know you, but then, I feel like I don't have to. You had a car I've always wanted and that was enough for me. It makes me sick to hear that it was snatched like that.

I would totally suspect that your "mechanic" is involved. Cops should see it the same way. Things just work out that way.

I do hope you find it and it isn't thrashed.

Best of luck, Teddy.

Post Title:
Posted by: S13Teddy at 9:27 PM 10/12/2007

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate. Chances are, I will be completely screwed out of my mind by this. There wont be any evidence that this guy has my car if its already in pieces, and my insurance probably wont give me anything.

I most likely will not get another dime, at least for the next 10 years. The next one I'll own will be a garage only car. Right now, my main focus is getting my 240 back on the streets for now.

Again, thanks guys.

Wow, if I didn't get a dime for a car that I loved as much as you loved you 510, I don't know what I'd do. Teddy, you're the man. I know nothing anyone can say will make you feel better, but... somehow, someway, things will get better for you.

friend of a friend

Echo Park

2 phrases that should not be used when referring to your car.

Maybe your on that show "Overhaulin" and a friend of yours took the car to get it all done up by Chip Foose

Just trying to lighten it up man. Good luck. I wish you all the best. Remember things happen for a reason.

Post Title:
Posted by: S13Teddy at 12:21 PM 10/14/2007

Well you know, I figured that. Maybe it was stolen because I would have killed myself while driving it in the mountains or something.

But the least God could have done is "misplace" a $5,000 wad of cash in my mailbox or something....

holy **** teddy, you should go look at that craigslist ad, and worship Ubercks Balls for finding that.... That has a highhighhigh chance of being your car.... and that just goes to show that if it is yours it hasnt been completely chopped yet... get the detective to go with you too....

Uberck, You are the Man..

Edit: i just realized that it is parts only and not the shell... but still if it is yours and you have proof that that is your stuff.. just get the guy convicted and buy a shell and drop that stuff back in...

Post Title:

Thanks Uberck, but I caught that post the second it was posted. I go through craigslist 10 times per day, everyday. I called that number, and it turns out to be the number to Avis Rental Car service at Long Beach Airport. They dont know of anyone that would be selling datsun parts.

I also e-mailed and got no reply. If this guy is actually selling my stuff, he's not doing a very good job because he's impossible to get a hold of.

I really can't thank you enough Uberck for keeping watch like that. You are indeed the man. I will buy you a drink someday when I'm no longer underage.

UPDATE:

So last night, I got a call from a man by the name of Dan, who was in Echo Park. He told me he was looking at my car as we spoke, and the car was at a light on 12th street in Echo Park. He briefly described my car, and it definetly sounded like mine. I notified police, and they notified all officers in the area, but... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The only thing about it is that the police say they an't do anything unless the car is parked. I don't mean to be pesimistic, but if these guys are driving my car around Echo Park, they have probably changed the plates as well. On top of that, Dan's number was blocked, so I have no way of getting back in touch with him.

Post Title:

ATTENTION TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE IN LA AREA:

Keep a tight watch. My car was spotted again and Dan was once again the one who called, except he was attacked by several men this time because he was spotted. He got me a plate number which matched mine.

I called the cops and they sent out a chopper and a police unit, but by the time they got to the location they had already bolted. The locattion which they were spotted was 1248 W. Temple street Echo Park.

I'm heading out there right now. My number is (310) 947-2388. Gimme a call if you happen to see anything.

I wanna sleep really bad but i wanna know what happens next! This should be written into a short story, once it ends, and then be placed in the front section of nico haha

I hope when i get home from schoo tommarow, i can read the next page of the story

Post Title: Re: (Abdo)
Posted by: S13Teddy at 11:51 PM 10/17/2007

This story gets more and more crazy by the hour.

I rushed over to the location where the car was seen. Dan described there to be 3 cars. One was mine, the other was red, and the other was undefined during our conversation. There were a group of men arguing near the cars. Dan grabbed a plate number for me, confirming that this was indeed my car. The men then began to yell at each other.
After that, they saw Dan looking at them while on the phone. I heard Dan say to me, "Oh sh1t they saw me. They're coming towards me."
Then I heard, "What the fvck are you doing? WHAT THE FVCK ARE YOU DOING??!!! Who the fvck are you on the phone with." I instantly told Dan I was going to call 911 and that I was going to hang up, which I preceded to do.
I instantly called the police and informed them of everything. They got an address and told me they'd call me to let me know what happens. I got a call about 3-4 minutes later. The officer on the line told me the following, "We sent out 1 helicopter and 2 units over to the location. There was nothing there. Are you sure it was correct?" I told her that I was indeed sure. I also told her that I would be on way ASAP. I called my friend Daniel (I bought the car from him, and he's the one who recommended this guy to fix the car. I will not mention his name) and he told me he'd meet me down there.
We got there and went by the guys house. The TV was on, but nobody appeared to be home. We preceded to go up the street, and met up with Daniel there. Then Daniel tells me, "You said there was a red car? That guy's car is red." There you have it. We now have a suspect. Well we headed down to the market, and of course nothing was there. Thats when Daniel got a call from the guy. Daniel immediately asked about my keys (which had been impossible to get after the guy kept making up BS excuses to not give them to us.) and as expected, he said he wasnt around to give them to us.
We got a call back about 5 minutes later saying that his brother would come gove us the keys at his (the guy's) house. We continued to patrol the area as Daniel went to retrieve the keys. My ultimate goal was for Daniel to retrieve the keys, then I would follow the brother to wherever the hell he was going. Possibly leading to my car. Well, the brother never came. At least, while we were there. He actually came before we had gotten there, and dropped off the keys on a window ledge. How convenient....
Just after that, a police car was patroling the area. We flagged him and we spoke to him about what was going on. It turns out that they were actually specifically looking for my car. My car was involved in a crime the night before. So now my car was stolen, and it was hot. I showed the officers pictures of my car from my cell and we spoke for about 30 minutes. They left and continued to look for it. We decided we would go to Kinkos and snatch some pictures from the internet, print them, and bring them to the police department. After getting lost numerous times within LA's retarded "one way street" madness, we found the stupid Kinkos. It cost me 10 bucks to use the internet for 3 or so minutes.
We then went to the police department, and I once again thouroughly explained the situation about the guy, his brother, and how my car was hard to steal unless you knew where sh1t was. They told me that they would notify me right away if they were to find it. Now they have pictures, so it should be even easier to spot.

Thats where I leave off for tonight. Have fun reading all of it.

If you dial *67 on your phone, it'll show you the number of said blocked caller.

*69 will also call back the last received call, but leave you without the number.

taking a gun with you would have to be the stupidest thing you could possibly do ever. and why is it like every internet kids dream? "yeah i'd just pull out my shotgun and bangbang justice served! yeah american dream!!" You pull any weapon and you give them the perfect reason to jump/shoot/stab you. I'm glad teddy has a brain in his head. Don't risk your safety for a car man.

it's so crazy tho it does kind of sound like a perfect setup for an episode of Overhaulin', but to get the police involved to this extent kinda kills that idea. If you do get it back that would be a perfect pitch to get you on the show lol. You'd deserve it after so much ****. Someone call Chip Foose!

The problem with that is that he has a prepaid phone, so he cannot receive calls, only send them out. I have been trying to call his house phone, but it does not ring, and the mailbox is full. I'm worried to know if he is safe or not. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if he was hurt while trying to help me out.

So police can't trace the crime to them but instead visit you first since it is your car thus giving them time to run/hide/flee the country.

I was talking to a friend about this last night and we think there is a huge possibility that Dan is affiliated with the thieves, giving you locations of the car just to throw you off. Why else would he call from a private phone number? And the fact that he "was attacked" by those men could have just been another attempt at scaring you off. Be careful man. A Datsun 510 is most definitely not worth losing your life over. Take careful steps; don't get ahead of yourself, because when all is said and done justice will prevail. And that is obviously only because you've got NICO Club on your side, of course!

I've thought about that, and its definetly a possibliity, however, either way the car was still in that area up until last night since it was involved in some sort of crime.

I'm with the detectives on the phone right now and we trying to figure this out....

Ok I just got off the phone.

What makes me the most angry is that I told them that I have all of the info to back up the fact that this guy stole my car and I asked if they can investigate it somehow. They responded that it wasn't the crime of the century and that if it turns up then it turns up, and if it doesnt, then too bad...

I mean. I know (95%) sure its this guy, and I would really hate for them to not make haste on this and let this jackasss get away.

She told me to wait 1 or 2 more weeks... I was like "NO! Don't you realize that in 1 or 2 weeks that car is as good as gone?!" She was like, "Well I understand but..."

This whole situation is frustrating when you know whats going on and can't do sh1t about it because even the police aren't a huge help.

Ok so Lemme get this straight...

Your car is stolen from a friend of a friends residence

the car is then used to commit some crime

and the cops still don't give a chit, nor any information?

sounds like the cops are working with the thieves.

Damn dood, this sucks.

It sounds like you will get your car back, hopefully.

It also sounds like that Dan guy has somthing to do with it along with the guy who you left the car with.

Yea, now I'm beginning to question Dan's role in this. What are the odds that he spotted my car two nights in a row?

Coincidences happen, but.....meh. I dont want to jump to conclusions just yet.

sounds like the cops are working with the thieves.

Nobody watches out for the little guy anymore. America is becoming more and more corrupt as we speak. The police officer that handled the report when my car was broken into LITERALLY told me, "You'll never see your stuff again, tough luck kid."

No racism here, but Dan sounded like he was black to me. I also know that the guy who has my car is black. Dan's phone number was blocked. The guy who has my car..his number is blocked as well.

Dan told me he'd call back on both nights, but never did.

report a few false crimes with ur car in the midde of the scene??

or say u saw a old datsun flying from another scene, the more the cops have to look for ur car, the more chance u have of finding it???

That's a great idea! Everyone from Torrance should call the car in, maybe it will actually get the cop's attention then.

just an opinion...but looks like the guy who stole your car knew you somehow before, he found your thread for reaction and "he's" probably calling you, giving you hopes, but in reality, hes just watching your actions forward...so they can be two steps up front of you...just a guess..

but to be honest...if i see your car , i will check for street or address and move my *** out of it....not waiting to play the detective and even let me be seen for those guys... like he did...too risky you know...

Theres not much you can legally do, and the only things you can legally do right now... the popoz dont seem to be too caring.

Post Title: Re: (S13Teddy)

It's not about the cops not giving a sh*t, it's about the cops having a lot of other sh*t on their plate. Property comes WAY below lives on the scale of importance, so stolen cars are generally not the priority of detectives that also have to work on homicides, child molestations, and armed robberies.

Agreed. Just have all of your friends and just about everybody you know call and say they were stopped at a redlight when somebody in the car pointed a gun at them.

Also do you think you could steal that friend of a friends car? Or severely vandalized it. You could pretty unsupsiciously pour bleach in his gas tank.

Eh, you shouldn't have to. A STOLEN vehicle involved in a CRIME should be known by ever officer in the area and immediately pulled over if seen. Not "well, we'll get around to it if we're in the area and it's parked and no effort is to be exerted by us." That's bull****.

have fun making false reports to the police

i don't know about you, but if calls started coming in stating that a datsun 510 was pulling ****, it would be a little suspicious, because 99% of people don't even know what the hell kind of car it is. It's a grey box on wheels. And then you give them a false location, which would just cause police to search in that area, when you really have no idea where this thing even is. I mean seriously, what are you gonna say? Even if you do it from a public phone, they're still gonna ask you for your info. Are you just gonna hang up?

Yah, my buddy got his EF civic DX stolen, the police found it 4 months later in the garage of an abandoned house, all they took were the tools out of the back, the distributer, the wheels, the radiator, and the spare tire jack. Your car is a lot more Iconic though, good luck.

my friends 1990 DA integra was stolen saturday night. basically it had T66 turbo kit, nice front mount, but stock 97 motor, some ice, CF hood, crossdrilled brakes, coilovers.

He was actually trying to sell it for like 6 which he wasnt ganna get, but it was in front of his grandfathers house facing the road. Well it wouldnt start so someone musta broke the windows and flatbedded that POS. So today he calls me and tells me that they found it in MD but uh....as you can guess, stripped to the frame everything gone & sold if not used. Its kinda what he deserved too but the thing I hate about him is that mommy will just pull out the mastercard and get a 00' Si.

Let me explain how stolen vehicles are dealt with.

1. The vehicle is entered into the BCA national database.
2. Whenever that license plate or VIN is run by an officer (i.e. on a traffic stop, for a parking violation, etc.) the vehicle will have a "hit", coming up as stolen.

Due to the volume of calls departments receive, it's neither practical or possible to actively investigate thefts such as this.

Really, recovering stolen vehicles isn't a matter of investigative prowess or determination, it's just a matter of time or luck.

Post Title: Re: (Uberck)
Posted by: f1seb at 8:32 AM 10/23/2007

Yeah it sucks. Cars are an expensive hobby and this is one of the reasons why as well. The problem with Cops is not that they don't want to to help you it's that they don't have the manpower to do this. My brother is an NYPD officer and I talk to him about stuff like this and he tells me that the NYPD has a little over 30k officers, now these guys are pepperd all over Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, check the population in those areas. 30k no longer seems that much anymore. And as nchopp said before. There are crimes that take precedence over others. Now you may jump in and talk about all the BS that the police dept does to good people, like exhaust tickets, no front plate tickets, the "rolling emissions inspection stations". The truth is, it's not the police thats behind it, it's the politicians, check with your mayors. For the NYPD police officers get certain "perks" if they write down a certain amount of tickets in a certain amount of time that adds up to a certain amount of money. If they are consistent enough with the ticket writing then the rewards start to stack up. The city needs to make money somehow, and the people always bite that bullet.

First of all.... do you have rental car coverage?? Normally, you need to be at least 25 years old to rent a car in CA, but that rule doesn't apply when insurance is covering your bill. I've been thrashing rentals cars since the sweet age of 18. Unlimited mileage = lots of fun.

Receipts can also help you get more cash. Just go into your insurance in person, with your receipts, if you're still a teenager, you might want to bring a parent just for backup, some worker people tend to ignore young people in cases like this.... a concerned older person will help give u leverage...;

What insurance you got?

State farm paid me a mere 2 weeks after my car was stolen (and never recovered) and I had a rental car too.

Update:

The yearbook staff is writing a piece for this years YearBook about my stolen 510. They want to take a picture of me holding the title and my keys.

So I pulled out the envelope with my title in it. This envelope also had the keys inside. Well as I pull ou the keys I noticed something that I can't believe I didn't notice before...

One of the keys was not the original.

The key to my club has obviously either been copied or exchanged with another one. My key was from 1989. It was majorly worn, and it was bent at the teeth. The end was not pointy, but round due to wear and tear.

This key however, almost looks brand new, and its as straight as an arrow. The tip of it as sharp and still square. This so obviously isn't my key. I never noticed before because I didn't touch them in case they needed to lift prints from them.

I just thought I'd share this with you all.

I think he is saying that when he left his keys with the guy who was supposed to fix his car there was an OEM key, and when he got the keys back, the OEM key was missing and a copy was in its place, like whoever took the car, didnt need to hotwire it because they had a key.

Wow. Thieves suck. My friend lives in a gated condo complex and got his 20th AE Golf stolen. It was two kids 15 and 16 going for a joy ride, somehow they had a valet key for it. the plastic one, that locks gas cap and trunk once the car starts.

CA seems like thieve central. I might put full coverage on my Civic SI and drive there and park in shady neighborhoods to fund my 240sx.

Not a bad idea, I bought my 99 Si for $11k. I beat the sh** out of it, and pretty good too, had a lot of fun, got stolen 3 years later and they gave me $13500.

So I basically got PAID to trash my 99 Si, f*** a car payment!

if it has a wing and some rims 10 minutes tops is all you'll have to wait well if you leave it there past 8pm that is
