Don't know the story either, but could it be he knows the person who stole it? Or some friend of a friend? I'd start stalking all of them.
Hope you get your Dime back in one piece!

If it has been too long, then you are probably right in that about it being pretty much impossible to recover.

Keep a tight watch. My car was spotted again and Dan was once again the one who called, except he was attacked by several men this time because he was spotted. He got me a plate number which matched mine.
I called the cops and they sent out a chopper and a police unit, but by the time they got to the location they had already bolted. The locattion which they were spotted was 1248 W. Temple street Echo Park.
I'm heading out there right now. My number is (310) 947-2388. Gimme a call if you happen to see anything.

I rushed over to the location where the car was seen. Dan described there to be 3 cars. One was mine, the other was red, and the other was undefined during our conversation. There were a group of men arguing near the cars. Dan grabbed a plate number for me, confirming that this was indeed my car. The men then began to yell at each other.
After that, they saw Dan looking at them while on the phone. I heard Dan say to me, "Oh sh1t they saw me. They're coming towards me."
Then I heard, "What the fvck are you doing? WHAT THE FVCK ARE YOU DOING??!!! Who the fvck are you on the phone with." I instantly told Dan I was going to call 911 and that I was going to hang up, which I preceded to do.
I instantly called the police and informed them of everything. They got an address and told me they'd call me to let me know what happens. I got a call about 3-4 minutes later. The officer on the line told me the following, "We sent out 1 helicopter and 2 units over to the location. There was nothing there. Are you sure it was correct?" I told her that I was indeed sure. I also told her that I would be on way ASAP. I called my friend Daniel (I bought the car from him, and he's the one who recommended this guy to fix the car. I will not mention his name) and he told me he'd meet me down there.
We got there and went by the guys house. The TV was on, but nobody appeared to be home. We preceded to go up the street, and met up with Daniel there. Then Daniel tells me, "You said there was a red car? That guy's car is red." There you have it. We now have a suspect. Well we headed down to the market, and of course nothing was there. Thats when Daniel got a call from the guy. Daniel immediately asked about my keys (which had been impossible to get after the guy kept making up BS excuses to not give them to us.) and as expected, he said he wasnt around to give them to us.
We got a call back about 5 minutes later saying that his brother would come gove us the keys at his (the guy's) house. We continued to patrol the area as Daniel went to retrieve the keys. My ultimate goal was for Daniel to retrieve the keys, then I would follow the brother to wherever the hell he was going. Possibly leading to my car. Well, the brother never came. At least, while we were there. He actually came before we had gotten there, and dropped off the keys on a window ledge. How convenient....
Just after that, a police car was patroling the area. We flagged him and we spoke to him about what was going on. It turns out that they were actually specifically looking for my car. My car was involved in a crime the night before. So now my car was stolen, and it was hot. I showed the officers pictures of my car from my cell and we spoke for about 30 minutes. They left and continued to look for it. We decided we would go to Kinkos and snatch some pictures from the internet, print them, and bring them to the police department. After getting lost numerous times within LA's retarded "one way street" madness, we found the stupid Kinkos. It cost me 10 bucks to use the internet for 3 or so minutes.
We then went to the police department, and I once again thouroughly explained the situation about the guy, his brother, and how my car was hard to steal unless you knew where sh1t was. They told me that they would notify me right away if they were to find it. Now they have pictures, so it should be even easier to spot.
Thats where I leave off for tonight. Have fun reading all of it.

The problem with that is that he has a prepaid phone, so he cannot receive calls, only send them out. I have been trying to call his house phone, but it does not ring, and the mailbox is full. So police can't trace the crime to them but instead visit you first since it is your car thus giving them time to run/hide/flee the country.

What makes me the most angry is that I told them that I have all of the info to back up the fact that this guy stole my car and I asked if they can investigate it somehow. They responded that it wasn't the crime of the century and that if it turns up then it turns up, and if it doesnt, then too bad...
I mean. I know (95%) sure its this guy, and I would really hate for them to not make haste on this and let this jackasss get away.
She told me to wait 1 or 2 more weeks... I was like "NO! Don't you realize that in 1 or 2 weeks that car is as good as gone?!" She was like, "Well I understand but..."
This whole situation is frustrating when you know whats going on and can't do sh1t about it because even the police aren't a huge help.

Your car is stolen from a friend of a friends residence
the car is then used to commit some crime
and the cops still don't give a chit, nor any information?

Everyone from Torrance should call the car in, maybe it will actually get the cop's attention then.

Agreed. Just have all of your friends and just about everybody you know call and say they were stopped at a redlight when somebody in the car pointed a gun at them.
Also do you think you could steal that friend of a friends car? Or severely vandalized it. You could pretty unsupsiciously pour bleach in his gas tank.

i don't know about you, but if calls started coming in stating that a datsun 510 was pulling ****, it would be a little suspicious, because 99% of people don't even know what the hell kind of car it is. It's a grey box on wheels. And then you give them a false location, which would just cause police to search in that area, when you really have no idea where this thing even is. I mean seriously, what are you gonna say? Even if you do it from a public phone, they're still gonna ask you for your info. Are you just gonna hang up?

He was actually trying to sell it for like 6 which he wasnt ganna get, but it was in front of his grandfathers house facing the road. Well it wouldnt start so someone musta broke the windows and flatbedded that POS. So today he calls me and tells me that they found it in MD but uh....as you can guess, stripped to the frame everything gone & sold if not used. Its kinda what he deserved too but the thing I hate about him is that mommy will just pull out the mastercard and get a 00' Si.

| Eh, you shouldn't have to. A STOLEN vehicle involved in a CRIME should be known by ever officer in the area and immediately pulled over if seen. Not "well, we'll get around to it if we're in the area and it's parked and no effort is to be exerted by us." That's bull****. |
Let me explain how stolen vehicles are dealt with.
1. The vehicle is entered into the BCA national database.
2. Whenever that license plate or VIN is run by an officer (i.e. on a traffic stop, for a parking violation, etc.) the vehicle will have a "hit", coming up as stolen.
Due to the volume of calls departments receive, it's neither practical or possible to actively investigate thefts such as this.
Really, recovering stolen vehicles isn't a matter of investigative prowess or determination, it's just a matter of time or luck.

The NX2000 / B13
The Miata
The 2.5 RS Impreza

The occasional high mileage NSX

Receipts can also help you get more cash. Just go into your insurance in person, with your receipts, if you're still a teenager, you might want to bring a parent just for backup, some worker people tend to ignore young people in cases like this.... a concerned older person will help give u leverage...;
What insurance you got?

The yearbook staff is writing a piece for this years YearBook about my stolen 510. They want to take a picture of me holding the title and my keys.
So I pulled out the envelope with my title in it. This envelope also had the keys inside. Well as I pull ou the keys I noticed something that I can't believe I didn't notice before...
One of the keys was not the original.
The key to my club has obviously either been copied or exchanged with another one. My key was from 1989. It was majorly worn, and it was bent at the teeth. The end was not pointy, but round due to wear and tear.
This key however, almost looks brand new, and its as straight as an arrow. The tip of it as sharp and still square. This so obviously isn't my key. I never noticed before because I didn't touch them in case they needed to lift prints from them.
I just thought I'd share this with you all.

I think he is saying that when he left his keys with the guy who was supposed to fix his car there was an OEM key, and when he got the keys back, the OEM key was missing and a copy was in its place, like whoever took the car, didnt need to hotwire it because they had a key.
