Hello - found this site while reading on http://www.nissanfrontier.net. I joined here due to my fondness of all things Nissan!

My daily driver is a 2002 Frontier, painted BRIGHT (Solar) YELLOW! That color looks great on the Zs too!

I'll try to post a pic later...

DRIVE!

Seriously bad arse.
At CN4XC we have 3 Pathfinders with SAS conversions.

2 are on 35's with dana 44's under the frame.
The other rides on 33's ( He had some garage restrictions so that was his max.

We have a Bob-tailed Hardbody that is going in for it's SAS conversion to 3/4 ton high-pinion dana 44's and his plan is for 38" Iroks on an 8 bolt Hummer wheel he picked up for cheap. Should be done in May/June sometime so I wll post when that one is done.

the truck is already wild with it's full exo - cage and rear deck.

Hey, I'm Chris, I have my third Nissan, a 2003 XTerra, with a 2.4 4 banger.
It's what I could afford, and it continues to impress me.
I still miss my old 2001 frontier S/C, but I don't miss feeding or maintaining it - still want another one day, but the 2.4 will have to do, married with a kid now.

now, why am I here?

I'm convinced that my XTerra is just right.
The only thing I've done so far is put a K&N stock style filter on it, ONLY used synthetic oil (it needs to run forever - easy for a Nissan) oh yeah, and drive it like I stole it everyday. @ 40,000 miles it's just waking up to the fact that it's a Nissan and will run for 200k+ more...
pictures? well, none yet, but hey, pull up a stock picture of a silver (ice) 03 XTerra with a roof rack and side step (not too common on the base models) and you've got my Xterra. Kind of reminds me of my 86 Sentra, which is why reason for liking Nissans - discovering that they don't die.
Yes, it looks like most every other one out there, I'm cool with that, I just want it to GO like no other!!!

Wow...you got a rare Xterra there. I haven't seen a 4 banger X since 99 maybe...

Check out my Nissan offroad club:
http://www.NOAS4xclub.com

we have 3-4 runs a year and about 6-7 members from FL that come to them.

We have our annual members only run at Riverrock ORV in Miledgeville GA in April and already have a confirmed showing of 29 trucks....

My buddy is going through an engine rebuild on his KA in his hardbody in the next few months. He plans on doing the upper end for now and leaving the bottom stock....he's a nissan master mechanic, so I guess he can do whatever he wants...

[Wow...you got a rare Xterra there. I haven't seen a 4 banger X since 99 maybe...]

NICE! I'd be interested in finding out what your friend does to his and any relatively cheap mods I can do for now, that won't void the warrantee.
Going to wait until either the vehicle is paid off or the warrantee is expired before going too nuts. Right now it's my main transport. VERY reliable of course.
and yes that is one bad *** truck.

Ok, I know that this is lame. Since I don't have any pics of my XTerra available (really sad, because I've had it for 3 years now)
I do have my old Frontier, and my wife's old frontier. Kinda wish we'd kept 'em both. But I was bound to get into trouble with mine, sooner or later. It was just too much fun. It drove like a CAR a really quick car too!!!

umm this isn't working, maybe I need IE... brb

Tell me Desert Rat, how do you like your Calmini sterring system? Specifically the idler arm?

Post Title: Re: Member Check-In!!! Post pics and info about yourself here! (Big-Bird)
Posted by: Desert Rat at 9:11 AM 1/18/2007

It's on its second one. they wear. The second one is holding up fine now that Calmini changed the bushing. Before I did the axle conversion on the Frontier, I had the Spencer Low setup on it....it costs twice as much as the calmini setup, and it ate idler arm bushings too....however, since it used a modified stock arm, replacement bushings were cheap and readily available.

Post Title: Re: (AZhitman)

could be. The truck draws a lot of attention even as the body gets more and more dilapidated from all the wheeling....poor thing has been getting beat over AZ trails for nearly 9 years now.

I finally got around to formatting this image so it can fit it here. Destination Xterra no longer exists so there is no issue with posting this now. My local photo studio took the picture with an 8MP camera and did all the corner images in photoshop. Then I had a 24x48 inch photograph printed up for my garage. The center image is the real thing by the way.

Pretty truck tho.

The image was from Summer of 2005. And it's had it's fair share of damage of past carnage. You already know the usual suspects yourself DR.

But I don't beat the tar out of it either since it is my daily driver.

Post Title: Re: (Big-Bird)

Yeah, it's nice to have my Frontier and Xterra sitting in the garage waiting for weekends. I hate using up mud tires on the freeway commuting to work.

With 4 vehicles, I do pay for a heckuva lot of car insurance though. Fortunately the two trucks and my commuter are paid for...just making payments on the wifey's car.

Going back to 2003 I found myself snooping in various Nissan Sites around the world one day and I discover the Xterra has a brother.

It's built in China only and today I went back the site and looked at the 2007 model. They have some nice styling cues. Notice the fenders and quarter panels are very similar to the Frontier?. Look at the bumper and those cool driving lights. Even the interior is a bit different.

And it has been in the Dakar Rally since they started building them.

I own a 2001 Frontier S/C 4x4. I use it for mostly street use and occasional off-road. One of my hobbies is a back-yard mechanic, so several things have been modified since I've purchased the truck including exhaust, CAI, tires (now 275/55/17), brakes, audio system, etc. Now if only gas prices would go down so I can drive the damn thing

Believe it or not I get 2mpg better but had an oil consumption problem. It was all good for about a month, then used a quart in 250 miles. Then 3 quarts in 150 miles.I had bad driveability problems in moderate cruise or static T.P.S. situations. Then pulled the top of two pistons off. I can't determine why or how it happened, but hope it was a clearance problem.I will use a custom piston next go around. The cost to do the machine work to the pistons and rods was close to half a set of JE pistons.I would like to split a set with someone whenever I get financially recovered. As for the power.O.M.G.It's like boost on acceleration. If Iget it right I'll have Jim Wolf Tech work my E.C.M. And the low end but no top end part of VG34E is a myth.I yanks after 3500 rpm.

Hey, my name's Alek from Tyrone, GA right outside Atlanta. My older brother and I both drive 1997 Hardbodies. I'm a Junior in High School, and he's a Junior in college. I love my D21, the ladies, they do not flock to it, so maybe you guys could help me.

I've got a pretty rare D21, or so people tell me. It's a 5 speed, power everything, factory sunroof, alloys, liner, and a whole buncha other stock stuff. It's fully stock, except for a new stereo and rear speakers, but I like my cars with all the buttons.

It's an SE model, and I'll have pics up later. The only thing we never could figure out was the paint color. I'm the second owner, and when we got the title from the first owner, it said Color:Unknown. It's kinda tan, with brown striping; but it looks gray at times when you see it. I don't know; it's weird.

I was beggin my parents for a 240 for a long time, but I got the D21, so I'm here to make lemonade as they say. I'm lookin for ways to maybe make my truck more attractive.

Hello all. I am the new guy. Used to hang out on a sportbike forum. Crashed that and moved on to my truck. I live in south florida so other then swamp buggy stuff there isn't much in the way of 4X4 activities, so I bought a boat.

I bought the truck new. 2006 Nismo Frontier. 2WD with the standard Nismo features. No engine mods...yet. I am a bit conservative when it comes to the mods, it will be simple changes like dual exhaust and an intake. Maybe after that some suspension work. It tows the boat (20ft fourwinns 200 horizon) with little trouble, as long as the trailer has brakes.

I put a cap on the bed and the truck has a DVD player and screen. I am thinking that I will be creating the Tow/Travel type of truck. More of a urban street vehical with more purpose then taking the kids to school or a ball game.

ATS Billet running boards
AIRRAID suction kit

I have yet to install my leveling kit and get a custom exhaust welded up. I also replaced the garbage stock Goodyear wranglers for some Firestone destinations, considering my truck has 22k on it and they were almost bald.

I also happen to drive around a 2004 XTerra when dad finds it in his graces to let me drive it. Let me just tell you, if I could get rid of the Camaro and drive the Xterra I would do it and never look back. Currently, I don't have any pictures but I will take some tomorrow and post them ASAP.

P.S. These trucks are all sexy as hell, I wish I could take my off roading but it was a show car before dad bought it and until the current tires lose their tread it has to drive around on street tires.

Hello, my name is Riley and i drive a 95 hardbody. It's been lowered a bit, lower offset toyota rims, custom exhaust, waiting on an RB20 fuel pressure regulator. As well, it should have an E-fan out of an R34 and a welded rear diff soon. O yah i am trying o track down some smaller tires as well, the 28.5" one are a little big and the body needs some help. It's a work in progress.

Hey guys whats up I'm Cody and i live in Fall River WI (dont ask where it is lol)

I have a 91 d21 hardbody 2wd with a 2in body drop, 2 hydro pumps 6batts, some nice paint on it and this thing is just going to be my little project for the next year or so. I plan on finishing up the interior since there is no carpet from the body drop and touching things up in the bed area to clean it all up. Ill have some more pics later but this is all i have for now

My name is Jeff I drive a fairly stock 94' Hardbody single cab that I have absoutley fallen in love with. This truck has single handedly changed my mind about Nissans When I first got the vehicle when I was 16 I "knew" I was going to hate the little stick shift monster. Boy was I wrong, I intend to have this vehicle for many years to come and it will have many Nissan sibblings in the future.

What's up everyone. Been frequenting the Versa subforum since I got it back in Feb, and it'll be nice to meet even more members here at Nico.

Hope you're all ready for a short novel.

Wife and I made the decision to get a truck a while back. A big truck. A really, really big truck. Something with lots of interior room, 4x4, ample bed space, and a factory tow package giving enough towing capacity to make others jealous.

We were looking to take advantage of the model year end discounts and all the extra rebates and whatnot on a brand new '08. After test driving numerous trucks, we narrowed it down to the Dodge 1500 Big Horn Edition (had to settle for the Quad Cab, as all the Mega Cabs were already gobbled up) and the Nissan Titan SE (no worries about the Crew Cab, as it's seemingly just as large as the Mega Cab).

We drove the Ford and Chevy Crew Cabs, but were disappointed more than we thought we'd be. Poor wife was a Ford girl since that's all her parents had, and I'm rather glad she was completely let down by the big blue oval (loose door handles, center console trays that you could jiggle back and forth, the list of laughs go on and on.. and the $37K truck we drove had 28 miles on it...sad), as I really didn't want a Ford. The Chevy was nice, but the interior just seemed..... rather dated. The ride was too "squishy", for lack of a better term.

Our frustrations mounted when the local dealers were trying to stick us with a $500+/mo payment for 72 months. We'd have ended up paying over $36,000 after the loan term. No thanks and have a nice day.

That, and our preferred Nissan dealer went back on their word. They told us we could get an SE CC 4x4 (Timberline w/Almond bench seats, Popular Package, Tow Kit, High Utility Bed Package, Moonroof, and Floor Mats that'd been sitting at another dealer for a full year now... it's MSRP was $36,785) for wholesale pricing of $25,000 before trade-in rollover, taxes, title, licensing, etc etc. We come back 2 days later to finalize the numbers, and all of a sudden it's $28,025, we'd have to roll over $3,000 more from the trade in, plus everything else factored in for somewhere between $489-509/month for 72 months. That was about $60+ more per month than we were figuring since they were trying to stick us with the disgustingly high APR of around 10%. No love, especially since this would have been our 3rd brand new Nissan from them.

So, after another scour of Autotrader, I found what follows in St Louis, MO. Made the call, had them put a hold on it, and we hightailed it down there this past Monday evening to make the deal Tuesday morning.

2007 Nissan Titan Crew Cab 4x4 SE

* 5.6L V8 317HP 385 ft-lbs

* 5 Speed Automatic

* ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist

* Factory Tow Package
o Class IV Rear Hitch
o 7-Pin Wiring Harness and Trailer Brake Controller Wiring
o Front Tow Hooks
o Reverse Sonar Backup System
o Extendable, Heated, Power Side View Mirrors with Separate Blind Spot Mirrors
o Selectable Transmission Tow Mode
o Transmission Oil Temp Gauge
o 9,100 lbs Towing Capacity

* High Utility Bed Package
o Factory Spray On Bedliner
o Utili-Track Sliding Tie Down System
o Driver’s Side Rear Bed Storage Lockbox
o Cargo Bed Illumination

* Preferred Package (and other options not included in the package)
o Auto Dim Rear View Mirror
o Digital Compass and Temperature Gauge
o Homelink Universal Remote Transmitter
o Power Adjustable Pedals
o Extended Overhead Storage Compartment
o Front Heated Leather Captains Chair Buckets w/Power Drivers Seat and Adjustable Lumbar Support
o Rear Leather Fold Up/Down 60/40 Split Bench
o Rear Seat Power Plug and HVAC Vents
o Power Vertical Sliding Rear Window w/Defroster
o 6 Front/4 Rear Cupholders
o Under Seat Storage Bin
o 6 Disc In-Dash MP3 CD Changer with Rear Audio Controls and Wired and Wireless Headphone Ports
o 8 Speakers
o Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel w/Integrated Audio and Cruise Control Buttons

16,300 miles when we picked it up.
Got it for under the wholesale price of the '08 Timberline OTD (included the trade in roll over, all taxes, title, licensing, etc, plus the Nissan Certified Used and 7/100 WRAP warranty plus GAP). Even came in under our expected payment range and less than the Altima we traded in.

I've been on NICO for a while as a great source of info for doing the VH45 turbo swap into my Patrol. I race it in winch challenges in New Zealand so it has a fairly lengthy list of mods.
VH45 intercooled and turboed, 375 rwhp, manual shift auto (RE40R3A), extended wheelbase to 104.5" (same as D21 Pathy), strengthened chassis (after bending one early this year), twin shocks and fox bumpstops, H233 diffs front and rear, ARB locker front and Factory loacker rear, 35x11.5/15 Simex Extreme Trekkers with Staun internal beadlocks, Warn 8274 winch with twin 7.8hp 24v motors, widened drum and custom freespool, holds 90m of 10mm dyneema, (about 300' of 3/8"). 12v for truck and 24v 70amp alternator and twin 25 plate 925 cca batteries just for winch. Sometimes I run twin 6hp (9.5xp) 12v motors with 24v through them. This is fast but not great for really heavy winching.
The list of future mods includes full coilover and bypass shock suspension and a retune. Currently the rev limit is set at 6000rpm and not using VVT. The plan is to increase revs and drop boost a little so that I have similar power but can run 98octane instead of avgas like I currently do.
Another thing being tossed around is to take the running gear out and drop it into my D21 Pathy I have lying around. A bit light smaller etc so would go pretty well with 550hp dropped into it.

engine bay

Rolling chassis

bit of air

what 550hp does to tyres and mud!

At speed

That's probably more than enough from me!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here. I just picked up my first truck.
Found an old 1990 nissan 4X4 hardbody P/U.
I was looking for a 3.0 V6 4X4 because I both drive long distances everyday and I live in the country on a dirt road on top of a mountain.
After looking at my options I think this is exactly what I need.

She's not much to look at, but the engine seems sound with only 191,000 miles on it ------my friend has one right now with over 300,000!!

you'll probably be seeing me post with some questions soon!

just wanted to say 'Hi' first

Hey guise, my name is Josh. Just found this place while searching on Google for info on swapping Pathfinder seats into my D21 to get rid of that god-awful bench. This is my truck, '91 Hardbody. Got it this summer to use as a work truck, but now it's my daily since I'm currently laid off!

It's come a long way since I got it. When I bought it in August, it had a seriously ugly corrugated aluminum canopy, a ratty old KC lightbar, a 3" body lift, and tires that were just about bald. I took the canopy off the same day, as well as the light bar.

If you're wondering why the front end is so clean, it's because 2 days after I bought it, some woman pulled out in front of me while doing about 35, and I t-boned her, so pretty much the whole front end was replaced. Then shortly after that, a friend and I pulled the body lift off, pulled out the ****ty plastic bedliner, and I've been cleaning it up ever since.

I've got some plans for it, but nothing too extreme, since it's just my daily. I'm definitely swapping in Pathfinder seats now that I've seen it's possible, and maybe the dash, since mine has the fugly early squarish one, and I want to do an OEM center console also. I also want to do the later model grill and bumpers. Hope to pick up a lot of info and hopefully contribute some, too!

It's stock for the most part -- XE 3.3l V6 4x4 (Automatic ). I'll make a new topic talking about what you all think I should customize first. Thanks! I plan to be here a while.

hey figured id throw 2 cents in. im jer from western mass also. i picked up a 90 hardbody 2wd a few months ago and i have been messing with it since. i already swapped most of the interior out and changed the seats. i took most of the carpet out. i raised the front up 2" cuz the kid before me cranked the torsion bars down 3" so technically it is lowered and pretty much stripped. i stripped a truck in ny and got a lot of the exterior pieces i needed from that. i wanna kick a few ideas around about a possible motor swap either the dohc or sr20. let me know what you guys think!

Well first off i love the forums and am glad to be a new part of them. Now i own a 1989 Nissan D21 that has been sitting for 3 years now (Army/Germany) so that being said i picked the truck up in 2003 for $200. Starter is going out the engine ticks pretty loud almost a diesel sound! seat is tore the brakes are completely shot (my fault) I drove this truck so hard jumping it downshifting and dropping the clutch to bark the tires but i drove this truck for 2 years and didn't have a single problem with it. So i have decided to fix it up to be the best truck ever!!!!
What i mean by that is the most indestructible truck in the world!!!!
So if possible i need ideas

My name's David -- I'm originally from Virginia but more recently have called Georgia, Kentucky, and (soon to be) Maryland home.

I got my 1996 Hardbody XE as a gift from my pastor, who was getting a new SUV. Though I've dropped several thousand into this thing over the years, I absolutely love it -- runs well, looks sharp, and is simple enough that I've been able to learn quite a bit about working-on vehicles.

And man am I glad to find this forum! I had no idea all the things the humble Hardbody could become!

Hey everyone my name is Abdi, I just decided to join this forum. I have a 1987 nissan hardbody that I bought about 6 years ago, she has 266,000 miles and still running pretty strong. Never let me down once.....

She doesnt burn that much oil and there is no smoke out of the tail-pipe. No leaks either. All the work I did since I owned her was; New breaks front and rear, new waterpump fan/clutch pully, New head-gasket and tune up. I really like this truck, I bought it from the original owner. Its got a fair amount of scratches here and there and one ding on the front right fender. Other than that, its original paint and stock everything.

I did a newer front end conversion and recently put some 16" crome rims on.

The pic makes it look better than it is, its a great truck but the interior is a mess. Needs a new bench seat and the dash is all cracked.

I do have a few issues with her, the temp guage does not work and the truck runs a little cold in the winter, so I have to partially cover the rad with cardboard or else she wont warm up completely. Any help appreciated!!!

This is the only pic I can find so far, shes a great truck. I don't believe I will ever sell this car.

Sounds like it could be the thermostat to me -- didn't have nearly that big of a problem with my '96 HB, but similar issues.

Anyone else?

My 96
Bought this one new back in 96. It just turned 150 k miles. The truck has been great.
I started to smell antifreeze. The radiator top had a small crack in it. I replaced the
radiator and decided to spend some cash on the truck. New Hoses, Belts, Plugs,
Plug Wires, Dist Cap, Rotor, Motor Oil and Filter, Brake Fluid, PS fluid, Shocks,
(for a split second I thought about greasing the front wheel bearings) New Front

The “To Do List”.
Different Exhaust ( don’t know if I should do a cat back or do the cat too) Suggestions?

well it depends on emissions in your area... either way do 2.25"

if you don't have emissions where you live go catless... otherwise get a magnaflow cat and do a custom catback

Hi everybody, I have a 97 HB KC xe 2WD that I just bought last week. I am looking to put big Nissan wheels like maybe the newer 18 or 20 inch Armada / Titan wheels. Any advice on the 20s is appreciated.

BTW I am a retard and clueless when it comes to custom work so DIY fabrication is a no-no for me.

Post Title: Staggered Q's
Posted by: Asuncion at 12:55 PM 9/26/2009

Nice trucks. Has anyone considered a staggered tire setup. I bought the 18x8 titan wheels and in order to avoid buying 4x4 fenders, I wanted to put 225/50/18 front and 255/45/18 rear. Anyone try this, or am I just too cheap and should buy the fenders?

Figured its time to post in here now. I've been around the general chat/240sx forums for a wile now... But things have changed.

My 240sx is far from a daily driver, And I got sick of trying to fool my self into thinking it was.

Anyways, So I picked this up last weekend. Its a 1994 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 V6 XE. I'm the second owner, And its only got 111k on the clock. Frames good and the ac blows cold. The last owner also left me a stack of service records and the original window sticker.

I do... I bought a daily driver. Not another project car/truck.

I don't see why you wouldn't want A/C for a stock vehicle... Well, Unless you enjoy always smelling like sweaty nuts. That's just not for me though.

i have varying opinions on a/c

in a stock car i would not personally remove it... but here in CO i would only use it on the hottest summer days (90+) because at only 80 or so out it feels nice just to have the wind blowing in. now of course like i said i'd leave it in because girls don't like their hair being blown around and on those hot days i don't want to smell like nutsack... but A/C overall is not a necessity to me

one other thing about A/C... i hate it in turbo cars... it feels like the turbo lag is catastrophic and i'd only use it on the highway... off topic a little but still...

welcome to the trucks forums man!!!

New here. I have an 85 720. It started out as my wife's truck. It was her first car. She drove it for a while but wasn't the best on maintenance and it became somewhat unsafe. So it was taken off the road and she started driving a 96 Nissan truck. From there, the 85 went to her stepdad. He drove it for while, then her younger brother drove it, and her older brother got a hold of it. He lowered it, straight piped it (exhaust manifold to cat to straight pipe out the rear driver corner), and put air shocks in the rear to be able to lift it back up when carrying a load.
I plan on bringing it back to stock height, putting some 30" BFG ATs under it and finding a Pathfinder with a LSD to pull the rear axle from. I can't decide what I want to do for the engine though. Either rebuild the Z24 and eventually turbo it, swap in a KA24 with 240SX manifolds and computer, then turbo that, or I have a 99 Yukon 350 I can put in...only problem being, all I have is the engine. I would need to find the emissions equipment and a wrecked GM F-body to steal the stick shift and computer from...:D

^^ You got some cool ideas, man. The biggest thing with your truck, in my opinion, is that the platform isn't rusted out so you have a nice frame to work with.

89 Hardbody undergoing resto for my 13 year old son. Z24, auto, A/C 2wd.
Found a little rust and getting it ready for paint. I will use it for towing a
small boat till my son is old enough to drive.
