Post Title: Official Thread for NOPI 2006 Nationals
Posted by: nchopp at 12:02 PM 9/18/2006

http://www.nicoclub.com/nopi06-article.shtml

Well, here's the OFFICIAL thread! NOPI 2006 can best be summed up by Greg's motto (and I think NICO's new slogan):

GO BIG, OR GO HOME.

NOPI was, quite simply, NICOwned. Over 100 NICO cars, multiple NOPI award winning cars, a ridiculous amount of stuff both given away (over 900 posters and untold thousands of stickers\tattoos\tagging cards), and sold (t-shirts like hotcakes). Over 300 hamburgers and 200 hotdogs were grilled and consumed FREE for NICO members, local law enforcement, and other cool people. I personally had at least 15 people come up to me and say "Man, you guys sure do this stuff right."

I had to leave before the NOPI awards ceremony, and can't remember for sure who won all the NICO awards - we'll wait for Torry or Greg to post all that info up. We have an absolute crapload of pictures, but here are two pictures to whet your apetitties. Ahem.

Alisha was FANTASTIC. The most popular of the models, hands down. If I had a dollar for every picture we had to stop and take while we were walking, I wouldn't have to work another day in my life.

Ok, here are a few of mine. The ones outside suck. Apparently I had a setting wrong on the borrowed digi-cam.

The hatch before:

The hatch with 1,000 NICO shirts on the way to NOPI!

A few of the rowdies before we got into the Steakhouse

Inside the Steakhouse:

amolao's pignose hatch, quite possibly the nicest piggy I have ever seen in person. It also took Runner-Up in best 240:

The winning 240 was this one:

Winning Sentra with a VQ35 swap:

Runner-Up:

Prizewinners:

audtatious taking the Paul Souder Spirit Award for the year from Dan:

NICOmom drawing for tires with Chet and Alisha:

I've got more, but they'll have to wait a minute or ten. What a riot.

the fact that she didn't treat you like you had puke on your shirt certainly helped.

Outstanding weekend, gentlemen....This was my first time with my car and had a blast. Greg and the rest of the NICO gang are true professionals and real Nissan enthusiasts, in my book that counts a lot. What a show, the Skylines were in full effect and all of the 240SX's were top material. It was great to personally meet most of you guys/gals during both days, but there was so much to see and do that I wish NOPI was at least 4 days long.

My NOPI award is sitting in a very special place in my house, and it will be there for a long time. It really means a lot to me....thanks

As soon as I get my over 300 pics sorted out I will be posting a few...

I really enjoyed myself there. The meet & greet was a blast, as was NOPI. Greg and the rest of the team did an awsome job and really put NICO's name out there big time. There were a few other clubs representin' but none of them could hold NICO's jock. It was really one big party over at the big blue tent!

1der and Chopp did a great job with some comic relief on the megaphone and microphone. And my friend Goose, my brother, and myself all enjoyed sitting at the table and watching all the pretty womenz walk by. GOOD LORD ATLANTA HAS SOME PRETTY WOMEN WITH BIG AZZES!

We met up with my aunt in Buckhead Saturday night and she took us around the city a bit. We had dinner and I had a few drinks and we called it a night. We got 10 hours of sleep that night and opted to stay out of the sun and tour the city a bit more instead of going to the 2nd day of NOPI. We all liked Atlanta a lot and will definitely be back. My brother and I even left with the job listings from the Sunday paper.

We drove back to Indy following Wes most of the way so he'd have someone to help him drive. I'd say it was an awsome time! I feel sorry for anybody that missed it!

That demo is cool as hell! My car is in it from last year.. The '93 240sx in the second picture.. The gray one in the middle..

Also, I don't know where in hell she came from but I haven't heard anything about her since last year... Liz was, by far, hands down, the absolute BEST part of last years show.

For her to put up with all the dudes staring at her for 2 days straight, being pulled in 10 different directions to take photos, sign posters, and all kinds of other work... and to keep a smile on her face and a great attitude. She's was spectacular and we all hope she'll be willing to help out again next year!!!

It was chaos - we had a VERY short time window, and weren't allowed to have many people on the track...

Good times this past weekend. I didn't get to hang out under the tent as much as I was hoping to because I was running around taking pictures or trying to relax from the heat the two days.

Good seeing everyone and lots of nice Nissans to boot

Heh, that's the opposite of me. The only time I saw something other than the Nissan lot was on my way to the vendor area with the models, or on the trip around the track in a golfcart with Alisha and the tall model whose name I can't remember...

Vintage rice tates more stale.

I would love to get to go to one of these, but JUST to meet the NICO guys (I need to get my butt over to BRM next time I am in Tempe, which is soon), but 99% of the cars that are there seem to represent everything I am against: Bandwagon motors, big wings, and gaudy aesthetics. Not to stick my weenie in anyone's cheerios, but at least for awhile, my cat could've gotten "inducted" into Teckademics. They may have changed their policies though.

The guy that own the GTR VSpeII NUR was the biggest dick I have talk to! I was talking to a friend and he was talking to someone. After he was done. I ask him is the GTR his car and he said yes with a attute. I told Him nice Ride! He look at me like I was crazy! Then I told him you have a nice ride does not mean you have to be a dick Head. then I just walk away! 3 of my friends and my GF also said he was being a dick! Couple of my other friends also try to talk to him, they all got the same attute!

Post Title: Re: (9095240SXDUCK)

FWIW, I liked the GTR in our booth better anyway

I didn't approach anyone, as I wasn't there.

No one's ever required to be polite, but he's obviously quite proud of himself and his car (attention whore) so I still say he's an asshat if he sets up like that and is an unreasonable dick to people trying to talk to him about his car.

What does showing off your car mean to you???
If you pop your damn hood you know people are going to ask you questions or make comments about it.
You going to a damn car show, where you show off your car.
I didn't drive 422miles"6hrs"+ 72miles"2hrs"(master cylinder melting)= total of 494 miles and 8hrs to go to nopi to not show off my car. I did get mad everytime someone said somehting abotu my damn heatshield though.
If you aren't going to be nice, then don't go at all. If he had some personal issue then why the hell was he at the show.
If he bought that car that way and is acting like a dick then he can go crash into a tree and watch the car burn to the ground, I've worked countless hours on my car and been through hell form wrong parts to bolts just not wanting to stay where they are meant to be. I get defensive if someone talks crap abotu my car, Have you worked on your car? "no" Then get the fudge out of here......

Yes, he does owe everyone something, and that is plain common courtesy.

Just as you owe everyone here common courtesy, but feel free to keep going with calling staff "fanboys".

Wrong. He doesn't owe you anything. If he registered with NICO, or parked in your section, then sure, you could expect more of him.
Oh, and common courtesy doesn't involve answering every question or comment from some fanboy.

Yes, fanboy. I think that's a fair label for these people. You want to make this a "user insulting the staff" thing? Well go ahead then, edit or delete my posts, we all know how you like to do that. I wasn't going to reply again, that last sentence of yours irritated me a bit, though.

I don't know Florida that well but if you're calling Repo or myself fanboys, that's just plain hilarious to me. You'd be making make yourself look like an *** far better than I could ever hope to accomplish.

Like I said before, I wasn't even there and someone buying a supercar doesn't impress me much -- but if you set up like some grand poobah at a (largely) rice show and respond like a dick to even the simplest of compliments, not questions, you're a certified asshat.

Meh, I dunno about Andy but I've no problem with people not liking me and I deserve no special exceptions because I'm a mod.

No, but you deserve appreciation which equals some respect due to the effort and time you put into this site so others can enjoy it.

Ask Wes and Matt about Saturday night.

Saturday night I was feeling good off Captain Morgan....until I jumped on the beds and almost knocked myself out... 6 advils later I just layed there staring at the ceiling until 8am....sorry for being late that day

It's not like he was a **** to one person or he was doing something else(fixing alternator like me), he was a **** to every person that came by his car.
What is a car meet??? xyster

"These people?" Who exactly are "these people", Xyster? The ones that run the site you're at? I don't care if you dislike me or talk sh*t about me, but at least shove it when you're talking about people like Dan and Repo who haven't done anything to you, and put in a lot of hours to run the very site you're on. All you're doing is showing exactly why you told me "I don't go to NICO meets anymore" - you've managed to alienate everyone that goes to them.

Edit: The only reason I've ever deleted someone's post here is if they violate the terms of conduct. Funny. You'd almost think that's what the Staff is here for.

Xyster, you're wrong! If you go to a CAR SHOW and are a dick every time someone compliments you, that's BS. If you drive every "fanboys" dream car, you should expect every "fanboy" to ask questions or give compliments, and your use of the word "fanboy" is complete proof you're a jerk. "Fanboy" how GHEY.

Guys like the Skyline owner are summed up best by the words spoken by "Gunnery SGT. Hartman" in the movie "full metal jacket" "It looks to me like the best part of you ran down the crack of your mama's a$$ and ended up as a brown stain on the mattress! I think you've been cheated!"

I love that movie... I created a football team on Nfl street with all the characters and made them look like they did in the movie....before I had my 240...

Yeah, that guy was an asshat.

Then again, some people come to events to show off their car and collect nutswingers.

For the rest of us, the cars are incidental - We're there to spend time with friends and make new ones.

Any wanker can spend six figures to BUY a car - I'd rather talk to someone who BUILT theirs.

Posted by: Mr1der at 3:36 PM 9/24/2006

agreed.

I hardly looked at any of the cars...as most sucked.

well, if they weren't parked in our section, thougha few there did too

Seriously, I couldn't have cared less. Like Greg said, that show definitely ISN'T about the cars. It's about meeting friends you feel like you've known your entire life, but it's for the first time. Good stuff!®

Um, beer was in the cooler. Can't help it you didn't take advantage of it. We had some Miller Light and Coor Light. I know, because the remaining is currently residing in my refrigerator

Nope, xyster is right. I'm a fanboy. At least spell it right brozef. It's fanboi. Anyone that knows me knows that I am the trendiest basturd that ever lived. I jump on all the bandwagons I can and have no allegiance or loyalty to anyone or anything. I'm like a fart in the wind, I just drift to whatever happens to be cool at the time because I cannot think for myself. Hell, I've even got an SR in my 240 so I am now a certified fanboi. The only thing I ask is that you come tell me to my face sometime. We'll discuss the matter.
