I bought this car for my mother 5 years ago. It had under 66,000 miles when purchased from the original owner. Mom loved the car but when she started forgetting things (dimentia) I had to take it away from her. Recent repairs and maintenance were done and I have invested $2200. in maintaining all of the cars working systems. I replaced all the cooling systems in the car. Radiator, water pump, hoses, belts, etc. Transmission flushed with new filter, rear window in top, the top is sound, brakes including new rotors on front and pads all around. Brand new starter was installed and a sensor for the shifting of the transmission. I later found out that the transmission was fine and that the temperature of the engine was the problem. Hench, the replacement of all cooling system components. I've found parts for the interior at local bone yards and outside of not installing the flywheel which I purchased from Nick on this forum, the car mechanically is very sound. Interior needs work. Passenger door panel stiching is poped, carpets need replacing, the bucket seats need to be redone. and a few minor incidental things like the buttons on the rear windows need to be fixed. Everything works as it should. I also installed 4 new speakers (Panasonic) and an AM/FM CD player along with an aftermarket antenna. Front end work was done, it needs aleignment but held off since the tires with about 7,000 mile on them (front only) were cupped and need to be replaced, although there is quite a bit of tread on them they make noise. So now you know where you can find and buy a low milage vert from someone who always loved the car and would like to find a new home for mom's mini-mercedes as she lovingly called it. paid $300 for it..wife and i both liked the style of the car and had no idea it was a nissan/american sunroof conversion when we adopted/brought home..or how few of them are around..[IMG][/IMG]we've had it about a year and really enjoy it/also have 96 sentra...
cleaned it up..had new long block/w/100k/3year warranty/radiator/brakes/struts/tires/fuel pump/rear seat/all door panels new upholstery/rear windows adjusted/new carpet/fixed/adjusted lights/ect...trying to keep it all oem/radio had already been changed to a sony/cd
spent alot of time cleaning/polishing/scrubbing..still working on little detail things/body good/minor parking lot dings/scrapes/clear coat starting to age... plan on having it repainted this fall...
still looking for vert boot/pretty hard to find/missed one on ebay

The registry is driven off the VIN. Without a VIN, it's rather pointless. How would you be able to differentiate between different cars and entries without the VIN? If you don't have your VIN, take a piece of paper and a pencil outside, look at any one of the 3 different VIN plates and copy it down. If it's too cold to go outside, I'm sure you could find it on any insurance, registration, or titling paperwork you should have filed in an easy to find place.

I think the best way would be to say you're looking for a part (say, a top motor), but that you need to check the VIN for compatibility (claim that there were 2 different "series" of top motors).

- Complete Ferrari Badge makeover. I put this together myself with authentic and knockoff badges from eBay and an internet badge retailer. This car is decked out with Ferrari badges and has tricked MANY people. The average person can't tell at all and many wannabe tuners, but most real tuners can tell it's a Nissan 240sx :P.
- MOMO/NISMO Steering wheel with quick release hub
- Billet Short Shifter with classic Ferrari style shifter knob
- "Carbon Fiber" Leather Racing seats (A pain to get in and not very adjustable due to the tight fit. Also feels REALLY wierd at first, but I am used to it now)
- Alpine CD Player
- 2 Technique 6x9's (4-way!) at 700watts EACH (no need for amp with this awesome deck)
- 2 Sony Xplod 12" Subwoofers in a Bandpass Box (These and the 6x9's take up the ENTIRE back seat. I will be removing them for a while until I get another car because I am married with 2 children and this is our only vehicle at time of posting.)
- 7.2" In-Dash LCD
- Custom Built Desktop PC mounted in the trunk. Has Wireless networking for downloading and internet surfing from the driveway or the street :P. Wired into the Alpine deck for ultimate audio while watching movies or playing video games in the PC. USB Ports are wired to the center console for use with the waterproof roll-up keyboard and mini mouse I keep in the console. Extra USB ports for whatever.
- At time of posting, still need to fix some damages to the body kit:
- RH Front fender caught on a misplaced cinder block and snapped the attached sideskirt and nearly tore the whole fender off
- LH front turn light lens snapped in half. One half is missing.
- Scratches around the keyhole of the trunk. Need to add soft backing to Ferrari emblem
- Both Headlights need to be re-attached to the bumper (custom, so needs glue and paint)

ALL convertibles left the factory and arrived at dealerships with automatic transmissions. The ONLY way to differentiate the different cars is by the VIN. The very first post in this thread says what information needs to be included as well as how to actually register your convertible. Until you do that, you really don't provide any useful information to the 240SX convertible community.

Of the last 18 people to post in this thread
- 7 people actually added their car to the real 240SX convertible registry.
- 3 people weren't able to find and read the VIN off their car.
- 8 people aren't able to read the instructions and add their VIN to the real registry (one twice).

To the three people who put their names down. Umm... Without a VIN, your information is worthless. How do we know it's not a car that hasn't already been registered in the past? This isn't rocket science. Get a pad of paper and a writing utensil. Go outside. Open the door, look in the windshield, open the hood and read the model plate. Copy the VIN from one of those three locations onto the pad of paper using the writing utensil. Then, go back inside and click the link in the first post of this thread. Here it is again:

Or... I'm sure you have documentation in your possession that has the VIN. Stuff like a title, insurance paperwork, registration renewal form, etc.

Without the VIN, it makes your "entry" worthless. How do we know this is a completely new entry or you ended up buying a car that's already in the system?

Awesome job to those that added their information to the registry. Thanks. The more cars that are in the system, the more complete the information becomes. This makes the system all that much better.

Since the last time I made one of these posts, 18 new entries were made. Thanks to those that have posted in both places. Thanks to those that have added to the registry. To those that only posted here, please add your cars to the real registry to make it more complete.

Also.....
If you run across one of these cars in a junkyard, GET THE VIN! It would be nice to have a record of the junked cars as well. Those that have entered their cars into the registry may have noticed the "VEHICLE STATUS" option. One of the options there is "DEAD/JUNKED/GONE". This item will help track which cars are off the road for good. It makes the numbers all that much more meaningful. Don't put your name as the owner, add the junkyards name, e-mail (if applicable), and website (if they have one). Also, if you can remember why it appears to be junked (front end collision, roll-over, etc).
