Post Title: 93 supra tt maf sensor Posted by:lelek240sx at 4:42 PM 3/9/2006 hi . did anyone had tried use supra tt maf on ka-t with help of safc? i really wanna try it but im still waiting for my safc but as far as i know i should work without problems
Post Title: Re: 93 supra tt maf sensor (lelek240sx) Posted by:Chezedik at 5:54 PM 3/9/2006 I am not quite sure about the in's and out's but why would you want to do that? Wouldn't they be harder to find and more expensive than an N60 or N62? Also, you would be working through all of the tuning on your own. I don't know that it is worth doing, but would anyone else like to say anything?
Post Title: Re: 93 supra tt maf sensor (Chezedik) Posted by:lelek240sx at 1:59 PM 3/10/2006 for 1 i already have supra maf and i got it for free the reason i would like to try this maf is because im not happy with 300zx maf, damn thing is just too sensitive to any tourbulances and surges trom turbo .n62 maf was designed to work with very long intake and when you trying to use it on anything shorter than 3 feet u get spikes in voltages . i just love supra maf design ,it can only read air flow one way and was engeneered to be close to turbo intlet . as for problems with tunning i think safc 2 have map for supra maf (setting hw12 ) + i have wide band sensor so it shouldnt be that bad . let me know what you guys think

Yes, I love the Toyota AFM flapper design. I'll bet you could also use a 3sgte (MR2 turbo, 2nd gen) AFM also. The only problem with them I see is the size. They're a bit bulky.
Let us know how it goes. I hope you get it set up real nice.

The 2jz maf isn't really bulky at all. It actually looks smaller than a z32, but pictures can be deceiving. I don't see why you couldn't use it. If you have a diagram of which wires are what, or even the sensor that plugs into the maf, you could use an safc2 or emanage to change the hotwire settings. As long as it uses the same basic wires a z32 does, I say go for it and let us know.
Post Title: Posted by:Chezedik at 7:04 PM 3/11/2006 Well, that is a good point, other than it being a flapper design, I say it sounds like nothing but roses.
Post Title: Re: (Chezedik) Posted by:lelek240sx at 4:27 AM 3/13/2006 93 usdm supra turbo uses hot wire maf , not flapper and its capable of around 550 whp so just a little more than n62 ( doesnt really matter to me becouse im not gonna make that kind of power any way ) but i like the design of it being so surge proof , and some people going say that is more restrictive than n62 but for average ka-t i dont think its going to matter . stock supras make around 290 to 320 whp so this maf has to flow good

Post Title: Re: (lelek240sx) Posted by:lelek240sx at 5:12 PM 3/15/2006 update --- just got it working . wow what a difference car no longer wants to die at stop light plus no more explosions from tail pipe .
Post Title: Posted by:KATwo40 at 5:22 PM 3/15/2006 SWEET! What SAFC2 settings for In/Out?
Thanks for the update, too. Now, I'll start looking for one of those...
Post Title: Posted by:sunnys14 at 7:20 PM 3/15/2006
yeah, whats the in/out settings!?
Post Title: Re: (sunnys14) Posted by:lelek240sx at 10:50 PM 3/15/2006 12 in 02 out ( i have jwt ecu set for z32 maf )
Post Title: Posted by:sunnys14 at 3:20 PM 3/16/2006 so how would u use this for stock ecu?
Post Title: Re: (sunnys14) Posted by:lelek240sx at 4:07 PM 3/16/2006 i belive stock 240sx maf is hw 7 but im not 100% sure so in that case it would be 12 in 7 out but check it to be sure
Post Title: Posted by:S14tat at 11:24 PM 3/17/2006 how is the tuning effected by running a supra maf? and how did you wire it up?
Post Title: Re: (S14tat) Posted by:lelek240sx at 4:22 AM 3/19/2006 wiring is easy, there is 5 pins on the maf 3 are for maf sensor and 2 are for intake air temperature ,im going to look later for exact wires but like in s14 maf u only need to hook up 3 wires , 12 v , ground from ecu and signal , as for how is the tuning effected , i just love how you can can run this maf really close to turbo and not get any false readings even when turbo is surging ( my z32 maf would get major amount of false reading when turo was surging sending afr to like 9.9 ) now is much better , the z32 maf was design to sit so far from turbos or throttle body in n/a that is not even funny , i was looking at my friend's 94 300zx and he has it at at least 5ft from throttle body to maf , so no wonder this maf is sensitive becouse it was not design to be so close to turbo , on the other hand check pictures of supra maf , this thing is built right , so other than being more accurate i think there is no real big changes
Post Title: Posted by:emperor_lunchbox at 5:36 AM 3/19/2006 That is cool that you got it working. I was just wondering what the part number is on the supra unit. I found one at a junk yard off of another model toyota, it looks just like yours. I think the car was an avalon. the part number on the avalon one is 22250-20020. Do you think it will work.
Post Title: Posted by:S14tat at 9:38 AM 3/19/2006 sweet, i tried lookin at car parts.com and they only have 1 and it cost $200!!!! pretty steep.
Post Title: Re: (emperor_lunchbox) Posted by:emperor_lunchbox at 2:15 PM 3/19/2006 here is the one I am talking about.
It looks similar. Do you think it will work?
Post Title: Posted by:WDRacing at 9:58 AM 12/28/2006
Supra guys swap out the MAF because they are very restrictive...they work well though. The 300ZX MAF is still your best bet for high hp, but I would like to play with one of the Supra MAFs and see what differences it makes in driveability.
Good thread. I'll sticky it as per request Mike.
*Edit* Upon rethinking that statement, I don't see why we would have any issues with the Supra MAF. As far as restriction goes that is. The 2JZ IIRC uses the stock MAF till around 500WHP. So thats more then enough flow for us.

Thank you Homey. Im picking one up today and see if I can figure that ***** out heh.
Post Title: Posted by:turbo2nr at 11:35 AM 12/28/2006 LOL TAKE BEN'S MAF WHEN HE UPGRADES TO MAP SENSORS.
Post Title: Posted by:Chezedik at 9:20 PM 12/29/2006 I still don't see the purpose, is driveability that bad?
Edit: This would be much more easily done with the Emanage.
Post Title: Re: (Chezedik) Posted by:S13FX at 7:45 PM 12/30/2006
It's just another option pretty much it, and it is more adaptable for a turbo since it only reads air coming in one way. But I guess it's just mostly for one extra option. Like I got mine for free from a buddy of mine.
Post Title: Posted by:Chezedik at 8:05 PM 12/30/2006 Bummer, so you don't need my extra one? If not, I may put it on eBay.
