Does any one ever do anything with these engines, I see a lot of threads on vq30dets which I assume is a non US engine? or just a vq30de with a turbo added on to it?
But it is the normal maxima/i30 engine good, as in reliable, makes good power, semi upgradable(not looking for huge power but capible of holding 6-10lbs of boost from say a t3 size turbo, like one from a vg30et).
Just looking for a better sounding and more powerful non aspirated engine than the vg30et, the vg30et is a great engine, its just not stock non turbo, That is all ive dealt with car wise and im looking to put a dohc v6 in a 73 toyota truck I have. And I really want a vq35, those sound so good and make great power, but I dont want to spend that much, I think I can get a vq30de and a 350z 6spd for under a grand... and source the ecu and eletronics from various junkyards... and I read it makes 190hp, that should be great in a light truck.
Im just looking for the flaws of this engine
And is there a write up on using the vq35 6spd on a vq30de, I think ive read the only thing is using the vq35 flywheel and clutch?
Also one more thing, are these front or rear sumps? I assume they are front because my 1990 maxima was front sump, but I wouldnt be surpised if they changed it in 95.
Edit: and was looking at the I30 some more and they made almost 230hp in 2000+, is there anything different with that engine? What made it have more power? Does it have to do with the intake? could I use electronics from say a 95+ with the later engine, they are around the same price as the 95-2000. If I am going to do all this work I might as well spend the extra 250 bucks and get the better engine, unless It requires a lot more wiring or more expensive ecus or something like that.
