I posted a while ago a thread regarding a grinding noise... That problem was solved with new gear oil in the axels... BUT the other thunk-ing noise I had was when I brakes (especially going down hill to a stop) My right front brake always seemed to be slipping.. So I thought it was a glazed out rotor needing replacement (after all the mechanic that inspected my car told me I needed new front brakes in about 5k) So I went to kragen to buy pads and rotors..... $150 later, I ended up returning them, because my gf's dad, who runs a Jaguar repair shop, told me its the ABS controller with some air in it.
Today I bled the brakes, and had a TON of air in them. It took 2 DOT3 12oz bottles to finally get the air out (or so I thought I got it all out). BUT when I took my car for a test drive after I did the repair, I had NO BRAKING POWER! The pedal went to the floor, and only the last inch before the pedal hit the floor, did the car actually build up enough power to stop. So I assume I have MORE air in my lines. BUT I dont know where the air came from! The tank never ran out of fluid to get air into it, my ABS module isnt leaking, all lines are tight. So I guess what I did was pull the air from the abs controller into my brake lines...
SO know I gotta figure out how to get it out! Should I just continue to bleed them using my vacuum pump (see pic below) until I get a steady stream of fluid? My gf's dad offered to open his shop tomorrow for me and he said would do a brake flush, but would that work better than me just bleeding them by hand?
I need the car by tomorrow night (to drive back to school) so im kinda in a sticky situation. Otherwise im stuck driving the explorer around til I get this pathy up and running again......
Thoughts, opinions, please post!
Thanks, James
