Where is the filter for the cooled seats at?maxnix wrote: If you have the cooled seats, replace that one annually also.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it uses a Peltier heater/cooler plate attached to a fan assembly. Basically when you apply electricity in one direction, one side of the plate gets hot and the other side gets cool. If you apply electricity in the other direction, the hot side now becomes cool and the cool side becomes hot. More info here http://www.heatsink-guide.com/peltier.htmDouble E wrote:On the 03-04 units with cooled seats. I see the filter under the seat & it's not too tough to get to.
Can someone describe the throry of operation to me? For example, I think the cooled seats draw air from the seating surface and out the underside of the seat, right?
So why does a filter need to be in the exit of the (hot) airflow? Is it just filtering for particulate matter it finds on the seat surface and sucks through and filtered so it is not released into the cabin?
Mine was pretty clean after 4 years anyway...
SteveTheTech wrote:Replacing the engine air filter is really straight forward, and it really only fits in there one way (tab facing up). I strongly recommend using factory air filters. I have seen a rash of Ms having an issue with MAF sensors using aftermarket cheapo filters as they either do not fit properly or have a larger hole diameter allowing more particulate matter to bypass the filter.
The micro filter is pretty easy on the M. If you open the glove box and grab the top of the lid and gently pull up. This will unlock the lower retainers (snaps). After this you will need to pull it out at an angle and remove the tension line on the right side of the box. Once you have the cover off you will see a cover in the top right section of the rear of the housing. Simply put your fingers in the hole and push back slightly and pull down. Once the cover is removed you will see a while box behind it, Gently apply tension to the right clasp and pull out to reveal the filter. When installing the new filter make sure it is facing the correct direction for optimum airflow and filtration. Be careful when putting everything back together as the tabs can break pretty easily.
Check page 2-24 and 2-25 in the owners manual. It describes the seat blower as blowing warm or cool air up from the surface of the seat.Double E wrote:I don't think the heated seats use the seat fan at all. Am I wrong or were you describing that it did.
(Maybe my heated seats are supposed to use the seat fan & don't?)
Also, my seat cooler draws air into the seat, not out of the seat. It seems to work pretty well.
Am I dreaming on this?

Thanks for the suggestion I will take car of it and post it in our Infiniti Articles section and pass on a link here. It might take me a couple of days I need to wait till I get one of each model and good enough pics to post up.paigoomein wrote:this would be a good write-up if someone could put it together with pictures and such. I just had my filter replaced not too long ago but think this would be helpful when it comes time to replace it again.
Is this for an 06-08 M35 engine air filter? If so, do you know the part # for a common brand of filter? I went to the local place, where they carry Fram filters. I couldn't find one in their book for this car! Most every other Nissan with the 3.5 uses a XX4309 (where XX is the particular line of filters) so I took a chance and got one of these...doesn't fit! Paid $17 from the dealer for an OEM one.marlin29311 wrote:You can get the filters at any local auto store.
IoS is having a 10% off their already 25% discounted prices. They also have great deals on M1 oil filters.candymanfb wrote:This is the easiest access to the air filter I've seen in any of my cars, but unfortunately I was sent the wrong filter by Circle Infiniti in NJ. I plan on doing the in-cabin filter ...only after they verify I have the right unit.I'd hate to go through the process of dismantling the glove comp. and find out it's the wrong one!
I guess just looking at the engine compartment got me hesitant to not mess up anything "expensive" - I'm over that now!
Thanks again!
BTW - Circle charged me $10.50 for the engine air filter and 26.00 for the in-cabin with 6.00 for shipping(UPS) .... Infiniti of Santa Monica's prices were about 2 and half times Circle's!
Please see this from the FAQ (link is above) to see why we disallow this:ac604 wrote:i may re-post the pictures on the forum some other time...i need to goto bed
damn, i hate the forum link disabling and i can't even use the word re-post without the hyphen!!
This issue should now be fixed. Let's test: repost.szhosain wrote:P. S. I understand your comment about the word "re-post". Sems silly to me too (had to do with people jumping all over previously posted threads in our General Chat forum - a bit of a wild and woolly area - but seems a bit over the top to me to do this in all our forums). I will take that up with our Admins - will not necessarily get a resolution, but I will ask.
