That's pretty freaking cool. Does the large Lexan window make the system run any hotter?

Usual approach is to send it in to MS for free warranty repairs. I assume baking your Xbox voids the warranty, though. 3 year warranty from date of purchase for RROD.

You can either pay the $100 to have it repaired through MS or $199 for a new Arcade unit.

Those are the safe options. Other than that, most RROD's appear to be contributed to the solder on the GPU. There are a few tricks you can find out there to not only fix the problem, but possibly prevent it from occuring again by reducing the stress created on the board when it heats up. For this, I'd refer to one of the xbox related forums (teamxbox or xboxscene).

Are you sure it's older than 3 years? I thought the oldest boxes would only become 3 years old next month...maybe I'm wrong.

Depends, what's involved in baking it? If you had to open it, the warranty will be void. Otherwise you might be okay.

all u do is pull all the stuff off like harddrive and component wires and then wrap it in a towel and turn it on then after about 10 minutes it will overheat and shut off so u keep turning it back on for like an hour then let it cool for like 30 minutes and ur good it worked for like a month both times but now it dosn;t work anymore at all

From Wikipedia:

"The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005, in the United States and Canada;"

So unless you have some mad connections, it must actually be 4/06.

Yeah, I'm not sure. It probably will kill the warranty unless it's obvious that only the sticker was messed with. I've never opened one (since I've never made it past warranty) so I'm not sure if there are more seals to show it's been opened. I guess if you can bear to be without it for a while, it's worth a try. You might even try calling customer support and asking them if that sticker alone will void it before you send it in.

That sticker will void the warranty if its cut or otherwise looks like it have been removed and re-applied, problem is you don't know if they will accept it or not till you send it off. If you want to repair it your self this is what needs to be done http://copronymous.com/wp-cont...d.pdf , I have personaly done this 3 times for people before the extended warranty came out and it works because it fixes the design flaw at the root its not a band-aid fix.

thanks that was a extremely helpful link the only thing im worried about is the fact the they sat to over heat it to fix the solders this in is basically what baking it does since iv done that twice now already think there is any kind of permenent damage caused by that i hope not i mean it fed up anyway so im goin to try but just a concern i had

Its not as bad as the towel trick because the mobo isn't cased in so the heat dosen't affect other components and the new bolts keeps it from coming loose again but yes there are risks. For example the GPU may not reseat properly if its not torqued down evenly, Of course if you have no warranty and its f***** anyways then there isn't a whole lot to lose but quite a bit to gain

Is the system back together or still outside the case?
