I have a 97 Nissan Pickup with a blown engine and just bought a 93 Nissan pickup engine with low miles. The distributor and the intake manifold are different on the 93 ka24e (obd1) compared to my 97 ka24e (obd2 engine). Can I just simply swap the 97 parts on the 93 engine(convert the 93 to obd2)? Would the distributor and everything else fit ok?

Why do you want to convert it?

I would think there's more to it than that... swapping the computer and harness? Exhaust to get the rear O2 sensor?

I want to convert the 93 truck engine since my trucks engine is done and the 93 engine has low miles. I have a complete 97 engine donor to swap the parts to the 93 engine. I also want to keep everything OBD2 compliant since I live in California and have to deal with the smog laws. Anyways, I don't need to swap the computer and harness if I am able to swap the intake manifold and distributor from the 97 engine. That is why, I just wanted to make sure if the parts are swappable to the 93 ka24e. I'm assuming that all KA24E Truck engines(long block) are all the same throughout the years other than the emission changes from OBD1 to OBD2. Please, someone enlighten me!

Duh... time for me to start reading for comprehension! I somehow messed up your first post and thought that you wanted to make a '93 truck OBDII compliant.

I have no idea on this one... hopefully someone with more KA experience will come to the rescue soon. Might check with a dealership to see if the long block part number is the same for the '97 vs. '93.

If you want to go to 93 from 97 then change out the front timing cover, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold, everything else is basically the same.

I agree except the port shape on the 97 head is slightly different so I have no idea if it will affect running problems with the sidefeed style injectors. I would swap the front cover to run the 97 dizzy and use the 93 intake and injectors. Make sur eyou swap over ALL 97 sensors directly attached to the engine. peace.

Ok guys so I have a 1997 hardbody automatic with a FRESH KA24e bored over. The trans is blown. I also have an identical 1993 hardbody 5 speed with the ka24e aswell but it has a blown motor. My question is what would it take to put the fresh motor out of the 97 into the 93? I'm not familiar with what I hear is obdI and obdII. Or would it be a better idea to 5 speed swap the 97 or if it's even possible with those years idk.. Please help!! Haha thank you everyone.
