Did you hardwire it or did you use an adapter kit?

i hardwired the radio, no kit was involved, running completely new wires throughout the car for a component system to be installed at a later date... i pulled the old radio out and clipped the wires on the back of the pigtail b/c i couldnt get tne original clips out of the radio.... is the interior lights run through the radio or are they seperate, i checked the fuses but im having no luck right now
